Chapter Two

“You should have seen her guys! She snapped back at Victoria!” Juliette exclaimed before eating another forkful of spaghetti in her mouth.

“Wait Lancaster?” Her older brother, Adam, who’s also a senior asked as he ruffled his curly brown hair to make it slightly fluffier.

“Yeah! She defended me and now I’m cheer captain instead of Victoria, oh and Mr. Anderson is going to send me some links to enter my writing for his class. He said I have a pretty good chance of winning something so I might do that.” Juliette finished as her parents smiled.

“That’s amazing to hear JuJu!” Her mom smiled as she got up from the end of the table and walked over to Juliette to give her a kiss on the forehead and a hug.

“And what about you Adam? I heard that the football team was posted today.” Their dad chimed in as he took a drink of water.

“Well, I don’t mean to stop on your parade Jules…” Adam started.

“No, please by all means! I’m so excited to hear what you got!” Juliette stated happily.

“I GOT QUATERBACK!” Adam yelled as everyone cheer for him.

“Atta boy! 3rd year in a row.” His dad said as he got up to hug him.

“Oh, I am so proud of you both!” Their mom said.

“Come on Jules, are you sure you don’t want to come to the Caribbean for spring break?” Adam asked changing the topic completely.

“We’ve been through this already guys… plus your girlfriend can go with you now. So, your welcome!” Juliette teased as her parents chimed in with laughter. Their dinner was always held together as a family, with the exception of her parents missing dinner due to work. Juliette’s mom, Amanda Summers, worked as a veterinarian. This is where Juliette’s love fore animals came from and why she also aspires to be a veterinarian as well. Her mom was slightly taller than her dad, standing at 5’8, with long brown hair and eyes. She has the world’s softest smile with beautiful white teeth that only a mother could ever pull off. Juliette always thinks of a spring breeze after a harsh winter when she thought of her mom. Her dad on the other hand, she thinks of a soft blanket during the harshest storms. Her dad, Julius Summers, worked as a family physician. He stood at 5’5, but he loves his tall queen more than anything in the world. He rocked the salt and pepper color of hair and was always clean shaved. He was nothing but a support, both parents were; they always wanted the best for their children.

Adam Summers, Juliette’s older brother, made everyone jealous of their relationship as siblings. Adam and Juliette always have gotten along so well. They use to fight and bicker with one another when they were younger, but one day they both woke up and got along like two peas in a pod. Of course, they still teased one another, but never to the point where it would start a fight. Adam would always help Juliette and vice versa.

Their house never had any strict rules due to their parents practicing kind parenting. The only rules Juliette and Adam follow are; get good grades (C+ and higher), tell the truth, if you go to a party then text when you are back, and to keep their parents in the loop of their lives. It was pretty simple and has been working this whole time. Both kids are sprouting to be the most amazing people in the eyes of their parents.

“I mean when I was Juls’ age, I also loved going to rock concerts. I honestly never expected you nor Hana to like Death and Honor.” Her dad admitted as Juliette shrugged her shoulders.

“It’s a different type of vibe that I love compared to today’s songs.” Juliette said as she raise her eyebrows to Adam’s direction.

“Hey! Don’t you have packing to do?” Adam asked as their mom looked at the time.

“Juju, its nearly 10 o’clock. You have a 17hr drive ahead of you and I saw the mess in your room.” Her mom said as she started to gather all the empty plates. “Go on, get! Get!” She shooed Juliette as Adam help their mom with the dishes and cleaning the kitchen. She happily skipped upstairs before meeting with the monstrosity that is her room.

In order to clear her mind, she got started with putting all her clothes away except for what was left on top of the suitcase. From there she went to go facetime Hana, who was getting ready for bed. Hana and Juliette both spent the next hour going through outfit ideas and a good concert outfit.

“What if Marshal notices me?” Hana geeked as Juliette laughed.

“He’s on the drums, how are you going to get his attention?” Juliette asked as she finished zipping up her suitcase.

“Bro, I don’t know, I’m just saying what if?” Hana reiterated.

“Are you going to fuck him?” Juliette asked as Hana scrunched her face before both girls laughed.

“Alright, I’m going to bed now. Don’t forget we are going to pick you up at 3am so you better be ready or I’ll give someone else your ticket. Good night Juls.” Hana warned as Juliette rolled her eyes.

“I’m sure you will, good night Hans.” Juliette said as they hung up. Right before Juliette got ready for bed, there was a knock on her door. “Come in.”

“All packed up?” Her dad asked as he entered the room with something behind his back.

“Yup! I was about to get ready for bed. What time are you guys leaving for the airport?” Juliette asked as her dad sat on her bed.

“Just a little after you leave, so we will be up to say goodbye and all of that jazz. Say, by any chance do you still have room in that suitcase of yours?” Her dad asked as Juliette nodded her head. “Perfect cause I wanted to give you these.” He said pulling a box from behind his back.

“What is it?” Juliette asked as she shook the box a little, only to hear soft thumping coming from inside.

“Open it and you will see.” He answered. Inside the box was a black denim vest with a punch of patches with different bands. “Once upon a time when your mom and I were young we went to every metal and rock concert we could go to. I’ve been collecting patches from every single one we’ve been to. If you want to bring it with you on your trip to see your very first concert, you can. But if it doesn’t match your outfit-” “Are you kidding!? Obviously, I’m going to bring it! Thank you so much dad! Oh my god, I love it so much! You went to Behemoth!?” Juliette interrupted as she stared at all the patches and their designs in awe.

“Yup, that was 3 days before they got into that terrible accident killing them all.” Her dad said nonchalant.

“Thank you so much dad!” Juliette exclaimed as she hugged him.
