for all she knew they could be real like the goblins. but the last time, they were allowed to use weapons, this time around, if the creatures were real and weapons were not allowed, then the battle would be a hard one. she thought.
After choosing a part to follow, she got a system notification.
[Alert]
A cloaking ability has been detected in the vicinity. system has begun overriding the cloaking ability, and all hidden items and lifeforms would be visible to Host.
the moment elena received this notification, she noticed a small bar in the bottom left corner of her system screen. numbers were displayed inside the bar in an ascending order.
the moment it got to 100, the numbers stopped displaying, and she could tell something was different in her vicinity.
for one thing, she could see some strange looking mini creatures that look more like 10 butterflies put together.
they had the body of a man, with pointed nose and ears, and wings of butterflies. but these creatures weren't in any way beautiful or gentle like a butterfly.
their teeth were razor sharp. she could only see them because her system had overridden the cloaking abilities that were used to shield these creatures from the natural eye.
she kept walking forward, not wanting to draw any attention to herself by acting like she could see them, but deep down, she was scared. If anything, their hideous form and razor-sharp teeth all served as a warning to Elena.
the rule was that they weren't allowed to use an ability or weapons. Technically, she didn't have an ability. What she had were skills, the same skills she needed to use if she was going to get out of here in one piece.
she activated the scrutiny skill, wanting to know the creatures she was up against.
scrutiny skill activated
creatures Name: Sidhe.
creature type : magical blue winged creature.
abilities : Shapeshifters, mind control, magic.
state : immortal.
weakness: none.
"Wait, what?" She yelled in her head. "Drac, dracula, can you hear me?" She said internally while having a panic look on her face.
"I can see you're worried due to the type of opponents you would be facing this morning. Well, you have every right to be."So much for looking up to you for relief." elena said as if irritated.
dracula sighed like one who was tired of talking. "Well, if you must know, the sidhes are merciless magical creatures, one who are extremely protective of their territory. to complete this drill, I believe some students would lose their life today. except the sidhes are under a contract of not killing any student of z.w.A."
so that means it's not completely bad?. elena asked. "this in itself is still bad news, because if the sidhe are under contract and aren't allowed to kill the students, they will settle for the next best thing, which is to inflict grave damages. and there's a high chance the school doesn't care."
"In this world, the strong are favoured and protected while the weak are seen as a burden, so they are left to die." Elena said.
"Yes, and if any students die while completing this drill, the academy will see it as just another weakling being uprooted for the greater cause." I see, elena finally understood the situation.
thinking to herself, elena wondered how they were expected to fight against creatures that are immortal, without any weakness, creatures who could use magic, control the mind, and shapeshift.
in all honesty, this was going to be one tough drill. she kept walking forward like she didn't know about the sidhe presence already. taking another turn, here she could hear the loud cries of some students.
they were already engaging with the sidhe, one of the student was battling with a large monster that was two-headed. she quickly used her scrutiny skill, and then she could see the two-headed monster was actually a sidhe who had transformed.
not wanting to be caught up in the fight, elena retraced her step back. Only then did she realise the maze was constantly changing parts. In fact, the openings were constantly changing.
it would be next to impossible to locate a turn after exiting it.feeling like someone who had been locked in a confined space, elena was restless. she was becoming nervous, not just because of her opponents powers but also because she was one who hates confined spaces.
pushing forward and trying her best to be calm, she took several deep breaths. she noticed a small chest, She reckoned it to be the reward instructor Bella had talked about earlier.
right above the chest were several sidhes, flying in place, guarding the chest against intruders. She knew any attempt on her part to take the chest would result in an attack from the sidhes.
she was unsure if her vampiric energy would be enough to fend off these hideous looking wing monsters.
thinking back to the instructions of instructor Bella, she knew she needed to gather as many chest as she could, push come to shove, she would borrow the Claymore's skills with the hope that the skill could absorb magical powers as well.
she bent down, picked up the chest, fully expecting a full-scale attack from the sidhes present, to her surprise they made no move to attack her, they just stared at her blankly like she wasn't even there.
Elena was surprised, not wanting to stick around for long. She quickly made her way out of that part, taking another turn. This time around, she had arrived at a dead end.
at another location, Arwin and zareth were having a really difficult time. They were both in the middle of full-blown attack. the sidhes they were both facing were only four in number, making it two opponents each.
all four sidhes had transformed into different creatures. one of the sidhe had transformed into a wyvern. developing two giant wings, two large legs, a head that looks identical to dragons, and a long tail that had a stinger on the tip.
the wyvern kept swinging its tail towards arwin, constantly trying to sting her with the tip of his tail. the confusing thing was, she hadn't even made any attempt to pick up any rewards when these creatures started attacking her and zareth.
while fighting she couldn't help but think back to instructor Bella's words, she had said these creatures were guarding the rewards, but she hadn't even seen any rewards since she entered into this maze, yet the creatures where bent on killing her.
right now, she was using her vampiric energy as a sort of armour. the vampiric energy was so concentrated and pure that it looked like a crimson coloured armour set, covering every part of her body except for her eye, nose, and mouth.
