Doomsday Ascension

The world is darker than our shadows. That is what everyone assumes until they experience it themselves. This experience makes you doubt your sanity. Some years ago, the discovery of energy crystals was made. They were said to be stones carrying immense energies the world had never seen before. The crystals were later on improved and utilized to improve work both industrially and domestically. They were used to power hospitals where children were born. Children born under this light began to evolve with extraordinary powers. Throughout the years most generations without the powers perished and the planet was now run by the hierarchy of strength in power. The appearance of these crystals got the attention of other creatures around the world and the safety of the world was no longer assured. Those who weren't born in hospitals powered by these stones were left powerless to be feasted upon by society. The corrupt system must be put in check but who knew it was far worse than that? The rising threat

Tap! Tap!

The sound of footsteps was heard as a someone passed through the streets of the city. It was a boy around the age of 17. He took his steps carelessly as he proceeded without caution. By the look of things he was the only person on the streets. He wasn't afraid of being hurt on the silent street he treaded upon. Was it his pride that made him act like that or was that just his way of life? No one knew.

The sky was painted black with glittering balls of stars embedded uniformly in it. They blessed the empty streets with their comforting light. At the centre on it all was a giant one which sparkled with elegance. Its shape signified how dangerous the night could be for those who were just mortals. The moon was indeed gracing the streets with its beauty. It was full and bright and not just any other shape.

The boy glared at the night sky which also stared back at him. He was all alone in the streets and he still wasn't afraid. His hands were tightly stuck in his pockets as he ventured through the night without caring about what could go wrong.

A gentle breeze of cold air rushed through the entire streets where he walked. It would have been just a simple reduction in temperature but the silence of the nearby surroundings made it a little awkward. The intensity of the temperature reduction grew gradually within the minutes that followed. It was as if the temperature had dropped to subzero.

The boy stopped for a while and started rubbing his hand together in an attempt to generate heat. The expected results were obtained but it didn't last for long. The temperature dropped rapidly within the time he had tried to fend away the coldness.

Proceeding became a struggle since he couldn't breathe, he begun to pant uncontrollably. His mouth would open up frequently on its own in an attempt to grasp some oxygen. Oxygen was all that he needed at the moment to survive. A 'thud' resounded through the empty street as his hand struck his chest. He coughed up a couple times when his throat had started to dry up.

He started squeezing his chest, his grasp was so strong that his fingernails were digging into his skin. Blood began to trickle out in an instant. Thoughts were running wild when he realized that there was no way of escaping this situation. Frustration was biting through his skin as a predator does its prey.

*Thud!*

His body dropped on the floor as the sound resounded through the area. The sound was loud but not loud enough to wake up those within the vicinity. The throat he had always depended on to yell for help during times of trouble was no longer working due to how dry it had become.

Destruction was written all the streets as the boy had his consciousness slip away into oblivion. His eyes rolled away as blood filled the aqueous humour of his eyes. The hand he had grabbing his chest dropped down slowly and he gaved up his ghost.

-----

Around the same area where the boy had fallen a dark hooded figure stood amid the buildings by the road side. Its figure stood out among the items in the surrounding neighbourhood. The figure had a devilish smirk on his face as he watched everything unfolded.

His hands were glowing a faint blue and had vapour rising slowly from it. His eyes were bloodshot red and could be easily spotted since they stood out of the darkness which engulfed his body.

Swish!

Within an instant he had left his position and was already standing beside the boy's body. The sick smirk was still evident on his face as he bent down slightly to examine the body. A finger of his was placed on the boy's head and the grin on his face even got brighter which each passing moment.

The figures hand glew crimson red this time as an unknown energy was pumped into the poor dude's mind. Suprisingly the man's finger penetrated into the head through the skull as if it was a melon. Fresh blood sprayed out of the hole like a fountain when he had decided to remove his finger.

Standing up from the ground, the red glow around his hand glew dimly. He had turned his back on the body after he was done with his act. For an unknown reason the smile on his face hadn't disappeared when he started walking away from the body.

His red eyes lingered amid the darkness as he made his way through the night. He had accomplished his mission and this one was a quick one for him. "I will see you later, pawn. Before that time wreak havoc like never before", he said while peeking at the body for some split seconds. His happiness knew no bounds and the images flashing in his head of the destruction his new found pawn could wreak.

Grrrrrghhhhh!

The sound erupted throughout the whole area. The sound had come from the body on the ground. The thorax of the body begun heaving up and down rhythmically signifying the presence of life as its breathing got restarted. It begun to shake and convulse in a very disturbing manner. This spoke volumes of how the body couldn't handle the power which have been given to it by the hooded figure.

ROAR!

The situation continued for awhile until a sudden roar escaped out of the boy's lips.

For the remaining minutes, his body began to undergo some changes. Eyes were moving haphazardly while their color became just like that of the mystery figure.

Argggghhhhh!

He screamed in pain in an attempt to take his mind of the awkwardness of the situation as two huge black wings erupted from his back. They came with a force which teared his back into shreds. The skin below the wings begun to heal slowly after the wings were fully out of the body.

The huge wings wavered through space to declare their unwanted presence. A flap here and a flap there was all that was needed to create a gush of wind which cleared the ground of its impurities.

Next to appear out of where he had not expected was a long but thin tail which tore through his clothes in other to gain its freedom of movement. It was black in colour just like the wings flapping at his back. At the tip of the tail was the head of a snake which was constantly hissing and looking around for a prey to devour.

Fingernails outgrew their expected lengths and his hair grew a little taller while moving through space as if defying gravity.

ROAR!

The roar came out loudly again as darkness engulfed his body. What was left in the open now was the silhouette of a creature from the depths of hell. The ground shook slightly in terror when the creature had finally undergone and completed its ungodly transformation. It was its way of anticipating on the reign of terror that was about to befall the world and its inhabitants.

After it was done with everything, the flapping of his wings became stronger with every passing moment.

Boom!

It resounded through the whole place as the creature proceeded into flight. The ground beneath its feet got destroyed by the lifting force which acted upon it to enable flight.

The silhouette of the creature slowly disappeared as it ventured into the emptiness of the night sky. Its presence was finally gone and so was that of the hooded figure.
