Village

"Where do we start?"

" I think we'll start with Food, then a place to sleep and after that we visit the Guild. I'm interested what kind of people they employ for tasks. Let's go to the stall over there at the well, should be ok at least if they can use this kind of spot."

We walk over to the food stall, a bald man with an apron and a scar across his face seems to be the owner. Some people are in front of us and order meat skewers.

" Here's your food, Carl" said the man in the apron.

"Thanks Marcus," he replied," too bad you only have wolf meat, your rabbit is still the best"

"Can't do anything about it, the quest for adventurers at the guild hasn't been done in quite a while. No one in this forsaken village is brave enough to hunt them and we don't really have travelers, as you know."

"Sure thing, still, dreaming is allowed. When was the last time you had some? Must've been 2 years already, if I remember correctly."

"See, your getting old, it's almost been 3 years since the last party of adventurers came around and caught some. But I feel it in my toes, something's going to change."

"Change? You've raised the price again this week, at least put on more seasoning, cheap man, otherwise you'll lose customers."

"Can't do nothing about it, meat's got scarce, in time I'll only roast potatoes and you. Go away already, you'll Scare away other customers "

"Alright, alright, I'm already gone", said Carl and slouched away.

" Sorry you had to see this, but sometimes friends aren't the best customers. What can I get you two?"

" How much is a skewer?"

" 10 coals, but I'll give you 9 for a copper."

I give him a copper and took the skewers, giving 4 to Sarah and keeping the rest. As we turn to look for a place to sleep, Marcus stops us and asks:

" You're new here, that means you crossed the forest, right? Are you adventurers? You need some kind of strength to cross the forest,so you're adventurers, right? I knew somebody would get here and help us get meat, I knew it. When do you think you'll do the quests for us? But you should already have hunted something, right? Show me, show me, I give you a satisfactory reward for the stuff you have in stock. Please, gimme, gimme, we're almost out of meat, I don't want to roast vegetables!"

Surprised by his barrage, I turn to him, shaking my head.

" Sorry Marcus, we've hitched a ride with some merchants, who crossed the forest with escorting mercenaries and just jumped off the carriage as this village got in sight, the merchant continued to the next City. We're as weak as we are poor, I just hope we can afford a bed and a roof. I'm sorry, but we're not the people you hope for, at least for now I think, nobody can tell the future and miracles can happen. But we did want to take a look at the guild later."

Marcus revealed a sad and angry look, waved os off and we continued on our way.

As we look around and eat, we see the daily life of the people.

" A bit bland, don't you think?", said Sarah with a fed up expression.

"Maybe, but I want to experience this bland life, one has to see and life poor to appreciate luxury, just eat or they'll get cold. See, we've arrived at the tavern."

As I go up the stairs and inside the entrance of a 5 floor house, Sarah rolled her eyes, ate the rest and followed me inside.
