Demon Wars- Tale of the Legendary Rogue

Cole is nearly sacrificed to a demonic entity on an altar surrounded by worshippers. All he could remember was being brought to the Holy Knight Academy and passing the entrance exam, so how did he end up here of all places? What to expect: This is an Action/Horror novel which means that it will be very much action based but will include many horror elements. There is a tad bit of comedic elements at times, but I would consider it a minor part of the overall story. I am known for writing Eastern Fantasy novels and this is my first attempt at making an Action/Horror novel so hope you all enjoy! And last but not least, please rate even if you hate so I know how to improve. -OmniFrog

Chapter 7

In an instant, it seemed like everything was going according to Ms. Williams' plan as it only took a single strike in order to chop the demon's body in half. Several seconds had gone by, and the ray of light finally subsided as all of the students began to try retreating even though they were confident that it was now dead.

However, Leo was still standing in place frozen as he continued to look at the now dead demon's corpse in its entirety. He could not see it before, but the demon had very large sharp teeth and the amount of eyes on its head were six instead of two and each was a different color. Instead of retreating right away with the other students, Cole tried to walk towards Leo to help him.

"You two get back now!" Ms Williams shouted out as she quickly dashed towards Cole and Leo's location in a protective stance. Cole was trying to grasp why she would do such a thing so out of the blue, but strangely in the corner of his eye, he saw that the demon's dead corpse was beginning to twitch uncontrollably.

"I told you to run!" The look on her face went from one of worry immediately to anger because she saw that Cole was trying his best to pull Leo away, but that Leo was still frozen in place. "Damn it, I have no choice!" Ms. Williams said under her breath before charging once more towards the demon's corpse.

At this time, the corpse stopped shaking and exploded instead. This caught Ms. Williams off guard but the gallons of blood shooting at her was able to push her back into the opposite direction from the two boys. Floating in the air now above the corpse were eight eggs and they had many cracks around their shells, but were not moving.

"Leo, hey, we need to go now before we are no longer able to attempt to escape from here." Cole told Leo as he was finally able to overpower him and tried to leave the area before anything else happened. Ms. Williams once more wasted no time and ran towards the eight eggs, but she was stopped by a demon that was hiding beneath the ground.

"Where are all of these demons coming from?" Cole thought as one of the eggs finally burst open and a little demon started to chase after him and Leo. It looked like it was strong enough to kill them both, so all Cole could do was step in front of Leo who still seemed caught in a daze. The two daggers he had in his hands most likely could not even kill a large bug let alone an actual demon, but in a way he still felt it was better than going at this barehanded.

Similar to the demon that the eggs came out from, this little demon looked like a smaller version of it, but its claws were very large. Using its instincts alone, the demon did not slow down as it finally jumped into the air and slashed both of its claws towards Cole's head. But before the attack could connect, Cole used both daggers to block the little demon's claws like they were little daggers.

At this time, Leo finally snapped back to reality as he held the scythe in his hands while his body continued to shake from dread. Since Cole was now his friend, Leo felt that even if he had to risk his life, he had to at least do something to help him out as he charged towards the little demon as well.

With Leo's help, Cole was able to plan his attacks out a little better now that he did not have to look after him and because Leo's scythe was a mid range weapon, the little demon found itself unable to get close enough to land a heavy blow on either of the two friends. Once one minute had passed, both friends saw that Ms. Williams had finally killed the other demon and destroyed the eggs.

Taking advantage of Leo looking over for a bit too long, the little demon finally had its opportunity and caused a large gashing wound on his right shoulder. The deep pain Leo felt caused him to scream in agony as Cole chose to kick the little demon away which was just enough time for Ms. Williams to finally arrive and finish the job.

As Ms. Williams began giving Leo some basic first aid to at least stop the bleeding and minimize the pain, Cole just sat down on the ground gasping for breath. A moment later, the Vice Dean and a middle aged man arrived along with one of the academy's nurses who was carrying an entire toolkit. As the nurse took Ms. Williams' place in treating Leo, she gave both men an update on what had happened.

"I apologize Jean, my apprentice bit off more than she could chew and tried to face two third rank demons all by herself. Normally she would have been fine, but the seals on both demons had grown very weak by the time the battle started. None of your students were killed, but alas, it looks like I will have to find a new apprentice to train."

The middle aged man also turned towards Cole and apologized personally to him as well. Cole had no idea who this man was, but as long as him and Leo were able to survive, that is all that mattered to him at this time. "With that, we will take our leave for now. Because of this incident your students will be able to take two weeks of time to recompose themselves if they wish to remain studying in our academy."

"Ms. WIlliams, who was that middle aged man with the Vice Dean?" Cole couldn't help but ask his teacher now that Leo had finally passed out from the pain and the area was now very quiet as if nothing had happened just moments ago.

"That man was a Deacon of the Maroon Knights, one of the top three organizations that exist in our region. Originally he came to visit the academy to look for some prospects to personally train, however, it seems that he had lost someone special and stirred up quite a bit of trouble. This blunder of his will not cost him his position within his organization, but it may end up straining our relationship with them moving forward depending on if the two demons killed any students before arriving to our group."
