Demon Wars- Tale of the Legendary Rogue

Cole is nearly sacrificed to a demonic entity on an altar surrounded by worshippers. All he could remember was being brought to the Holy Knight Academy and passing the entrance exam, so how did he end up here of all places? What to expect: This is an Action/Horror novel which means that it will be very much action based but will include many horror elements. There is a tad bit of comedic elements at times, but I would consider it a minor part of the overall story. I am known for writing Eastern Fantasy novels and this is my first attempt at making an Action/Horror novel so hope you all enjoy! And last but not least, please rate even if you hate so I know how to improve. -OmniFrog

Chapter 3

Hearing that Leo seemingly cared more about food than his well being made Cole chuckle before lifting himself off of the floor. Both of them were twelve years old and had barely passed the entrance exam which consisted of them having enough endurance and physical strength to hit the minimum requirements.

Due to this, they were both placed into the Fighter class which was at the tailend of the Holy Knight Academy. Becoming a high level warrior or magi could mean the difference between remaining a commoner or ruling over an entire region. Though, this academy was the only local one that existed, just getting in as a student meant that they had a more secure future compared to the local commoners.

Both boys got dressed fairly quickly and couldn't help but to check themselves out in the mirror because their uniforms were said to have cost the academy a shocking one hundred gold pieces which was a month's salary for a commoner's family. This may have been shocking to both boys now, but they did not realize that some rare quality weapons and items alone could cost hundreds of thousands of gold pieces depending on their uses.

"Oh very nice, do you two want me to use my memory orb to take a mental image? It will only cost you both ten gold pieces and it will last an entire lifetime since there is absolutely no way either one of you being in the Fighter class will ever become ageless like the most powerful experts!" Rose said as she walked into their room. Rose was actually now on the path of becoming a magi since her affinity for the water element was above average.

Since anyone with enough hard work could become a warrior, it was far less impressive compared to becoming a magi. And because of this, Rose was actually given a monthly allowance of twenty gold pieces just so that another academy could not take her away from the one that they were currently in.

"Why don't you just take them for yourself since like you said, they will last longer and I am sure you need them." Leo replied while winking towards her. Cole was instead embarrassed from his actions and just laughed it off as Rose's cheeks began to blush from Leo's comment.

"Hmph, Cole the price still stands in the future but as for you Leo, those words just cost you another thousand gold pieces!" Unable to compose herself any longer, Rose left the room clearly heading towards the cafeteria as well. This did not surprise Leo since even if he was not very muscular, he did have an attractive face and he did not lack when it came to his personality either.

"We should get going too, and by the way man, if you ever want to teach me how to make a girl like Rose blush, I am totally willing to be your disciple." Cole teased Leo as they finally headed out towards the cafeteria which was on the other side of the academy.

As the two finally arrived, they both had to physically close their mouths after seeing how great the food selection was in the academy. Leo was from a very poor community that was just big enough to become a town after one more generation of children were born while Cole was from an established town but was not born into the mayor's clan.

To both of them, this scene was as if they had died and went to the heavens as they quickly filled their trays with a variety of small dishes and sat down at a table with the other Fighter class students that had just finished orientation with them the day prior. There were a total of fifteen of them which they were told was two more compared to the previous year.

Since the majority of their classmates were also from commoner upbringings, they all nearly refused to talk as they all had their very first meal together in the academy. But once everyone had finished, they began talking to Leo since he was clearly the number one prospect out of them.

Cole was in the top five according to the entrance test results, but only Leo seemed to have a chance of becoming strong enough to either join the military or to start his own clan in the future. This did not bother Cole since Leo explained to him in private that he hated the idea of fighting against demons on the front lines.

Cole actually lived near a small base that would have skirmishes with demons regularly and so he was able to experience their appearances first hand. The weaker demons he would see in life and death battles were not very frightening, but the ones in his nightmares were a much different story.

With one of the teachers in charge of announcements telling all of the students in the academy that it was time for class, the group of Cole along with Leo and the rest of the students all began heading towards their classes. This was an exciting moment in Cole's mind because they did not get to meet their teacher who was in charge of training them for the entire year until the end of the year test.

"Hey Cole, do you think we will be given a babe as a teacher or one of those older men that looks like they will die if someone blew some air in their direction?" Leo asked Cole as they were nearly at the entrance to their classroom.

"With our luck, we will have an attractive female teacher that is known for killing students who look at her the wrong way." Cole jokingly replied to Leo which caused Leo's face to go slightly pale after his perfect scenario driven daydream became one of a horrific nightmare.
