An Unknown Plague

It was a cold December day, Christmas if I recall correctly. I awoke to the alarm on my phone after turning said alarm off I got to rest and without waking anybody up I started breakfast. When I open the fridge I noticed the power was out but I thought nothing of it because it had been snowing for the past 2 days straight so I continued with breakfast it took about an hour to finish cooking and at 8:30 my family awoke and Emilia my wife Marie my daughter and my Klaus All came down the stairs. I had already made for flights you're grabbed a plate and sat down. Emilia tried to turn on the TV but to no Avail.

She turned to me with a puzzled look and asked openly "why won't the TV turn on?"

I responded with "The power's out."

She then decided to pull out her phone to check the news or something but she couldn't she asked me with a slight amount of worry in her voice "W.. What's going on,"

I thought she meant why she couldn't connect to the WiFi so I simply said: "Powers out so WiFi is down."

That's when she looked me dead in the eyes and said "Not that this she proceeded to show me a video she was sent by her sister it was of a person tearing into another person I was horrified by the sight and tried not to let my children see how distressed I was so I got up and went to the bathroom and took a long look in the mirror studying the scars on my face from the fights I've been in, with my brown eyes and hair I am almost an uncanny replica of my brother who sadly died while I was at war. Before heading down the stairs I grabbed a pill to keep myself calm. When I got back down Marie was the first to say something "Daddy what were you doing."

"just had to think sweetheart."

I told the kids to stay here and play with their toys and asked Emilia to come upstairs with me to our bedroom and I asked "what are we going to do," she waited and said, "well David we can't leave my sister in the city,"

I sat thinking then said, "you may be right but I'm refuse to leave you and the kids here and I refuse to take you out there." after a while, I finally gave in to her wishes "sigh! If we must go then we stick together and we take my knife."

She reluctantly replied "fine I will go tell the kids to get dressed after I get dressed," after an hour everyone is ready before we leave I grab my knife and we leave.
