Decisions

"The weak die and the strong survive, but the strongest dominate. Don't like this reality; gain strength and change it." King Bardock

Hippolyta Pov

A suffocating chorus of voices echoed through the intimate war room as her advisors and generals argued over what course of action to take and how to respond to the disastrous news the young prince had just informed them of.

Sitting upon her seat at the head of the wooden table, she pondered about what the prince had told her. She began to delve deep into her thoughts as the arguing of her council began to be drowned out by her own annoyance, fury, and fear.

Darkside had returned after twenty years and had completely decimated the Sayian empire. Not a single planet in the empire remained; he had destroyed all of them, a message to the rest of the universe to be sure.

Two decades after the Sayian king had killed him, he somehow came back out of his hole and destroyed not only the greatest empire in the universe but also the strongest race in the universe, so much so that all that remained of the ancient civilization was a boy who hadn't even lived three decades—an utter disaster to be sure.

Not only was Darkside now stronger than ever before, but his army, those abominations he called parademons, also seemed to be upgraded, and with the Sayians gone, was there truly a force left to stand against him? He was a foe almost as old as Arse, his son, who had tried to conquer us before. With the Sayians gone and the Gods refusal to interfere in man's world for lack of any faith left in them, did we even have a chance to stop him?

The boy was a mystery in his own sense; he seemed to carry around an ever-present sense of guilt in his eyes. I could see a deep self-loathing covered up only by burning fury and a desire for vengeance. The death of his homeworld had destroyed him mentally, which was to be expected; only revenge and sorrow seemed to be on his mind—a truly miserable end to the proud warrior race.

Crack

"SO WHAT IF THEY WERE OUR ALLIES IT'S NO LOSS FOR THE UNIVERSE THAT THEY HAVE BEEN WIPED OUT THEY WERE JUST PLANET-CONQUERING MONSTERS WE SHOULD SEND THAT BOY OFF THE ISLAND AND PREPARE OUR DEFENCE NO POINT IN THROWING AWAY Amazon Lives for the Dead; Let the Boy Worry About Revenge" Persephone bellowed over everyone, drawing me out of my thoughts. Murmurs of agreement resounded in the room.

She has a point; it is not beneficial to waste Amazonian lives trying to avenge non-Amazonians.

Crash

The room is silent as the table is thrown into the side wall, cracking it in half. Artimes walked from her side of the room towards Persephone, her red hair flowing in the air. One could almost feel the heat coming off the former strongest Amazonian fighter.

"You're a coward, Persephone, scared of the battlefield. They were our comrades; many of them shed blood with us, and some even fell for us, and now that they need our help, you want to reject them. That's the epitome of cowardice, sister." She spoke in a low but clear tone. Her fury does burn cold.

"Cowardice or rational sister? I speak only with the best intentions for our people, while you are blinded by your emotions for... Before she could even finish her sentence, Artemise's fist had embedded itself in the wall right next to her head.

Well, that was the expected reaction. Persophone may not have said the name, but it was evident she was going to speak about Gine, our fallen sister, a proud Sayain but prouder Amazon, the woman who had beaten back the son of Darkside before falling to her injuries, the very woman who had stolen Artimies heart and to whom it still belonged, and a faint joy sparks up in me as I think of the smiling face of my sister.

"Enough Artimes," I bellowed. "This is a war council; get your emotions in check or get out." I spoke in an authoritative tone, rising to my feet to make myself more prominent. I watched as Artemis paused for a moment before she retreated back to her side of the room.

Enough. Now that we have discussed this, we shall vote and see our next course of action." I spoke in a calm tone.

"Mother, wait before the vote. Allow me to speak." I heard a soft voice echo through the room. My daughter, what is she up to? I motioned for her to continue.

Her eyes brightened a bit as she made her way to the centre of the room and took a deep breath.

" my fellow sisters though most of you seem to want to not involve yourself in this mess and may want to wash your hands of this alliance now that the Saiyans can't provide anything to us I want you to think about what they did for us how they gave us technology beyond anything this world can still do not only did they give this to us they actually taught us how to make it and use it they also fought with us for us many times many of us have seen our comrades fall in the same battles as the Sayains we have had an alliance that was less beneficial for them than us for a while however they kept it for they were loyal to their word they were loyal to us never once did they turn down a request for aid from us and now that they need us the most when their Prince needs shelter and allies we turn our back on them how can we even consider this how can we consider our selves warriors if we betray our Allies we are Amazons we do not cower in fear we face death with a smile on our faces and we never surrender not to Arse and not to Darkside I say our alliance remains so long as even one Sayian does. I say we give him our help. I say we avenge our allies. I say we defeat Darkside. I say we show the universe the might of the Amazons, and if not for loyalty, then do it for our own benefit. Darkside has attacked us once, and we must prepare to land the first blow this time, for he will do it again. Let us welcome our ally from the stars, and let us prepare to end the tyrant once and for all. Let us show him Amazonian justice." she bellowed at the top of her lungs.

It was then that I saw some Amazoms moved from the side of Persephone to Artimes, making the decision clear.

"We will keep our alliance and offer the Prince shelter and our help in defeating the Darkside." I spoke with finality, making my decision clear.
