Chapter 142: Young Leader
After a while, the umbilical cord was cut, and the baby, wrapped in animal hide, still hadn't cried.
"Why isn't this baby crying?" Clara's heart skipped a beat. Could it be that the time was too long, and the baby suffocated?
"Clara!" Aunt Emily called Clara quietly, her hands trembling slightly, eyes red. Clara's heart sank; she knew something was wrong.
"It's a stillbirth. Poor Emma..." Aunt Emily cradled the small figure, gently touching it with tearful eyes.
Clara glanced over, seeing an extremely adorable baby with pointed ears and a pouty mouth. Yet, its face was tranquil, and when she checked the heartbeat, there was no pulse.
Not knowing what had happened, Clara hurriedly ran away, hiding behind a tree. She crouched down and burst into tears, crying until her heart ached.
"It could have survived, but why did it end up like this?" Saying in her mind.
While Emma was unconscious, Aunt Emily carried the baby outside and buried it.
