Travels

I felt as if my body had moved on pure instinct and a feeling of acceleration like no other consumed me. I threw the pebble as hard as I could towards the wilds boars. That was when I realized I was betting my life to this anime mechanic.

What if it doesn't work?

No, it'll work. The writer's got no guts to pull off my death in the beginning arc. I bet I'll be a rival or a best friend character... I won't be killed that easily.

The rock moved faster than my eyes could follow. I stared on to the boar in certainty and with a small explosion that exaggerated the pebble's movements. All that for a pebble?

Don't we just love this world's logic? The smoke from that overly dramatic explosion slowly faded away to show the 5 boars laid there, plausibly dead.

Rex glanced back to find me standing on top of the boar's corpses.

Thanks for leaving me you coward, I did tell you to put me down, but I didn't mean leave me behind!

"That was so cool!" Rex rushed back to me with eyes sparkling in admiration.

"I only took a leap of faith" I brushed it off as if it wasn't a big deal, but I swear if there's another scenario like this I will trip him and leave that man child.

Lost in thoughts, I was emitting a salty aura but snapped back before Rex realized it.

We aimlessly walked along the path we saw through the night as the dawn breaks we were so tired that the only reason we were still moving was the promise of food and water.

I wouldn't say I'm out of shape, but everything touching feels like it's draining my very life energy.

Even more frustrating is the fact that this shut-in is not physically capable of walking any faster.

A few hours past by ever since Day 2 of our "arrival", but it felt as if it had been months. I'm practically dragging Rex by now. He's such a pain...

There's no point of breaking character when I've gone this far though. My driving force for keeping him alive is the moment where I can stare into his eyes in glee as he suffers from my betrayal.

The moment he needed me most I'll leave him. With all those thoughts inside my head, I couldn't help, but smile even though I can barely hold on to consciousness.

Finally, when I felt like I was gonna pass out I saw a person riding a rustic horse wagon transporting something from behind.

"Sir! Do you mind if we were carried by your wagon to the next town?" I shouted out of desperation, trying to say it was fancy as an otaku can muster.

He looked at us suspiciously and asked: "Where are you from kid?"

Oh no... ok umm... come up with something... any stupid backstory... you can do it...

"We are from the village hidden inside the woods and we journeyed outside the village because a demon massacred our entire village"

I... just mashed Demon Slayer's plot with Naruto... what have I done? Wait are demons even a thing? Okay if it's not then I can say that a demon is what the village calls all of the wild beasts.

The rider looked doubtful, but sighed and agreed to let us ride along.

The moment the wagon started moving Rex passed out of exhaustion. I don't fault him for that though, I'm very tempted to do the same, but there's nothing stopping that rider from just selling us to become slaves.

It'd be the introduction of the world section of the game.

We later arrived at a huge wall blocking the path. I had to slap myself constantly to remain awake, but that also led to my cheeks being extremely numb.

"Ey, you boys got any identifications?" The rider asked

"No, sir" I replied in an exhausted voice

"Can't let you go any further without identifications. Gotta leave you 'ere. Sorry kids" The rider said looking sympathetic.

I tried to wake Rex up by shaking him but he just wouldn't so eventually I just dragged him off the wagon and thanked the rider.

In normal video game logic, this would be our base town. Identifications are a thing... that's gonna be a bother.

The rider told us that if we had no identifications we had to line up for inspection.

It was a pain to wait all day, but eventually, we got to the front of the line. I haven't slept in 3 days now I think...

Glaring at the sleeping Rex just makes me hate him even more.

I looked at the procedures and it seemed to be quiet easy. A wizard guy would cast some sort of spell and if none of your items glows you'll pass.

Everyone seemed to get in just fine so I wasn't worried until we were stopped.

"Boy... why are you carrying that child?" The knight asked me.

Shoot! I totally forgot about him!

"I... couldn't wake him up..." I told the truth because I couldn't think of anything else anymore.

Wait a second... I made it sound like Rex was dead! Oh... how... how do I play off of this?!

Ey! I swore I'd upload weekly! Sooooo 'ere ya go!
