Damn These Boys!

“Uh I never thought that you would actually call me, so I didn’t have anything planned but how about I take you to the movies this Friday?” he asked hopefully. Denise rolled her eyes from beside me probably unimpressed by his confession and lack of smooth talk. It seemed like he was not very experienced in talking to girls and getting their attention which is odd because he looked very cute. If I wasn’t on a mission to hurt boys, I might have given him a chance. “Friday works fine for me. I’ll send you my address so that you can come pick me up.” Now that the deal was made, I had no longer any interest in talking to him. I had already entertained him for way long and although it was fun while it lasted, I had places to be and people to meet. *************** Scarlet has finally lost all trust in guys after getting her heart broken many times. Chapter 3: Finding A Prey.

Scarlet’s POV

“Where do you think we should find our first prey?” Denise asked as she looked through the menu, sitting in front of me.

Sabrosa was astonishingly sparsely occupied today. It disappointed me, as I was meaning to find someone here suitable to be my target.

“I have no idea Denny.” I confess truthfully.

I might have made this plan but now that I must go through with it, it seemed much more difficult than I thought.

“What would you beautiful ladies like to order, today?”

A waiter came greeting us. He had a big smile on his face, clearly the one he had to put for the sake of his job, as he looked down at his notepad to write our orders.

Denise ordered two chicken fajita rice bowls and plain water for the both of us as she had already declared on our way here that this was going to be her treat.

He looked to be around our age and when he looked at me his eyes seemed to pop open a little as he stuttered, “W-Would you like anything else along with it?”

It was like god has listened to my problems and sent him as the solution. He was already into me.

He was to be my first prey.

Giving him my most flirty smile, I tilt my head up towards him and said, “Yes, you.”

This seemed to make him even more flustered and giving me a shy smile, he quickly walked away.

“Are you sure he is the one?” Denise asked leaning forward towards me and not so subtly pointed at him.

Swiftly putting her finger down, I nod my head.

“How are you going to ask him out?”

“I haven’t thought about it yet, but it wouldn’t be very hard I am sure, he already seems to find me attractive.” I say looking at him, and when our eyes meet I give him a sugary smile.

“He doesn’t look too bad himself; I gotta give that to him.” She says observing him.

If I have to be honest he indeed looks very handsome.

“So, how do you think Blu really feels about all this?” Denise asks while leaning her head on her palm.

I sighed she was really bringing up all the wrong topics today.

“Disappointed. She is really disappointed by my choices I can see that but she doesn’t really understand the pain I have gone through,” I say while mimicking her actions and placing my head in my hands.

Remembering the looks she had thrown at me today made my head feel heavy and my body tired from all the stress. I hadn’t even gotten enough sleep last night which already helped in exhausting my body.

“Hey, I am sorry for bringing that up. I don’t know, I was just worried that Blu might hinder your plans,” she clarified most probably reading the despondent expression playing on my face.

That perked my attention, “Why would you think that? You know Blu enough to know that she would never force me to do something which I wouldn’t want to do, the max she would go is to scold me and give me advice.”

I couldn’t stop the defensive tone from slipping into my words causing Denise to raise her hand in mock surrender, “Back off tiger, I mean no harm.”

“I know that. Sorry, I am just a bit worked up,” I apologize, never wanting to blow up on her.

There was a line I drew when someone talked bad about my family and even though I knew Denise didn’t mean it, sometimes in situations like these my instincts just works on its own.

When our dishes our brought back I am disappointed to see that it is some other girl and not him. I really didn’t need any more letdowns today to ruin this already hectic day.

Please god! Let one good thing happen.

“I think you scared him.”

Denise says, immediately digging into her food.

“You don’t think I had been too direct, do you?” I ask worriedly

“Well,” she says stretching it, “Maybe.”

“Damn! Why did I have to say that?” I say cursing myself and grudgingly start eating my food.

“I thought guys usually like bold girls who are not afraid to speak their minds,” I complained with my mouth full.

If he were to see me right now he would surely run away.

“Not really, it’s different for everyone but hey, I like my partners to be bold and independent.” She smirked and threw me a wink from across the table.

“Too bad you are already taken by someone,” I staged a sad face while sighing.

This caused her to laugh which in return started my own string of laughter. Gasping for breath, suddenly, I choked on my food and rushed for the glass of water in front of me to dissolve the loud coughs beginning to sprout unflatteringly.

“Oh god! Idiot, are you okay?” she asked on seeing me wheezing for breath.

“Hurry, look, was he watching?” I croaked, afraid of embarrassing myself even before I could date him.

Swooping the entire area for him she exhaled noisily, “Nah, you are safe, seems like he isn’t around here.”

“Thank god! Imagine how embarrassing that would have been.” I breathed in relief before continuing to savor the delicious food.

After bickering about the plan some more and after a quick tour to the ladies’ washroom to fix my look, Denise asked for the bill which to our luck was being brought by him.

Maybe I could still get him to go out with me.

He smiled at me, again, a bit too shy for my liking and gave me the bill before getting back to his job.

Denise snatched it from me even before I could take a look and opened it to show me the bill below which in small neat letters were written a set of numbers with a name below it.

He had given me his number.

I smirked at Denise taking the bill from her.

This just got so much easier.
