2 Chapter 2: She really was a weird one.

Scarlet’s pov

“Are you sure Scarlet?”

Blu has been interrogating me for the past fifteen minutes since I dropped the bomb on her and it seems to me that she is nowhere finished yet.

“Yes Blu, I am sure. I have already thought about it.”

“I still don’t have a nice feeling about this. I understand that you were hurt but this isn’t the right way to go about things Scar.” She says looking at me worriedly while sitting on the couch in our living room.

“I know it isn’t the nicest thing to do and that’s exactly why I am doing this, Blu.”

“I support Scar, all boys are dogs and they need to be taught a lesson.”

My loud-mouthed best friend says from the love seat that she has occupied.

She says that even though she has a boyfriend.

“Denise, you already have a boyfriend who treats you like a princess, you are in no position to say that,” Blu huffs while glaring at Denise, her slight animosity for her getting out.

“I am just stating facts Blu, and Ryan is an exception; he doesn’t count,” She says getting a little defensive.

Her face twists into an ugly scowl and my best friend and my twin seem to get into a staring match forgetting the main person regarding this situation, me.

“Guys stop! I don’t want you bickering again. Remember what I said, agree to disagree.” I scold them, sitting opposite to Denise on the other love-seat.

“Don’t look at me. She started it.” Denise accusingly points a manicured nail at Blu.

“I think you should give your heart some time to heal first. It has only been a day since your breakup. Don’t you think you are rushing to conclusions very soon?”

Blu and I are twins, but our personality was quite different. She had been a ‘good girl’ all her life where as I had been more of a rebel.

She was known for taking good decisions and I was known for being more impulsive. At twenty she looked more like a teenager but with brains of a mature woman.

Denise Scott had been my best friend since junior year of high school when she first joined our school.

She was very similar to me and was always by my side getting in trouble while Blu tried to get us out of the mess.

Blu has always blamed her as a bad influence for all my mistakes and Denise thinks that Blu always ruins all the fun, thus the slight enmity they have for each other.

Right now, Blu looked troubled, probably again worrying about me while Denise casually scrolled through her phone not paying much attention.

“I am older than you Blu. Stop questioning me. I have already made up my mind and what happened yesterday is something I don’t care much about.” I said staring at her with seriousness. I didn’t want her to see my pain past the pretense.

“Shut up! You are only older than me by five minutes.” She pouts accepting defeat. She knows how stubborn I can be.

Huffing she says, “I know there is nothing I can say that can change your mind, so I guess I’ll just have to keep an eye on you.”

I smile at her and get up to give her a hug. Plopping on the couch beside her I wrap my arms around her and say, “Thank you, thank you so much! You know I feel better now that you are there to look after me.”

“But I do not support you in this madness.”

“I know” I say grinning at her, happy to have my sister’s back.

“How are you going to go about your plan then?” she asks pulling away from me.

I quickly go over my plan with her that is simply playing the boys like they have been playing me all my life.

I get up and stand in front of her putting out four of my fingers and say, “It’s very simple.”

“First I’ll date them.” I put down my little finger.

“Second I’ll win their trust.” I put down my ring finger.

“Third I’ll make them fall for me.” Another finger goes down.

“Fourth I’ll break their heart and leave them.” My last finger goes down.

“And then we party!” Denise shouts from the love seat gaining herself a disgusted look from Blu.

“It will not be as easy as you think. It will take a lot of time and how many boys do you really think you can play and for how long are you going to do this?” Blu says eyebrows creased while her brown eyes stared right into my similar ones.

Her words make me pause.

How long am I really planning to do this?

Denise rises to her feet coming beside me to face Blu and says, “Don’t worry Blu, she can do this until she finds her ‘The One’ for her and till then let those boys suffer like they have been making us girls do.”

Denise’s words help me reinforce my confidence and I send my sister a sweet smile.

“Just please don’t get hurt.”

“Oh Blu, It’s those damn boys’ time to get hurt. She has had enough. Remember how her past three high school boyfriends

had made her cry. Seeing her like that was one of my worst experiences.”

Her words felt like a blow to my gut.

Memories of all the past mistakes I had made and how much I had let them affect me came rushing through me like molten lava. It boiled my blood to think how much of an asshole they were to treat me like they did.

Alex was the only one for whom I didn’t shed any tears after coming back home.

Blu sat with me yesterday listening to everything I had to say, coaxing me to cry and to let the pain out but I couldn’t cry.

Not after what I had promised to myself.

“And guys in Uni are no different, they just want to have-”

“Denise, I think we all understand your point,” Blu speaks abruptly, stopping Denise from completing her rant.

She had always been the one to understand my feelings without even having to look at my face. Call it twin telepathy or anything else but I was very thankful for my sister and that, she cut her off at that moment.

At times my best friend could be so clueless.

She had no idea how much it still hurts remembering all the pain I had to face in the past. It hurts to think that I invested so much time and affection and it was all gone to waste.

“Why don’t you two go out for dinner it’s almost time and I would have joined you, but I already made plans with my dance crew,” Blu says getting up to head out.

Waving and shouting a bye she walks out of the small living room.

“What do you say Scar? Let’s go to Sabrosa.”

Looking at my best friend I see her already taking out her keys from her purse, not even waiting to hear my answer before skipping out of the room.

A small smile breaks on my face at her antics.

She really was a weird one.
