Chapter 5

"Okay, you would spend the night in my apartment. Tomorrow I'll find you an apartment. It's already so late," Cullen spoke up as they approached a meadow.

Amelia, who was so lost in her thoughts said nothing to him. His words failed to break her out of her trance. She had no idea where they were, or how far they had come.

Cullen glanced at her briefly and continued driving. Getting to the gate of his mansion, the gate opened automatically after scanning his car.

The yard of the mansion was beautiful. There was a beautiful garden in the front yard, filled with blooming yellow flowers, and a colorful swimming pool on the other side of it.

Cullen drove directly to the garage. Packing the car among the many others, he stopped the car and took off his seat belt.

Amelia finally came back to her senses when the car stopped moving. She tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear before highlighting the car with her head bowed low to the floor.

Cullen alighted the car after her and walked away from the garage without saying a single word to her. He acted as if he was alone.

"I_"

Amelia opened her mouth to speak up but immediately stopped talking when Cullen halted and turned to her.

There was a slight frown on his face when he turned to her. He stared at her as if she was a bug, stressing the life out of him, "Do you expect me to carry you?"

Amelia's jaw dropped to the floor when she heard him. Tears stood in her eyes, slapping her with the reality of how she would forever be a burden to everyone.

Just when she thought she could feel less like a burden around this constant savior of hers, he turned out to be the same as everyone and decided to prove her wrong.

Clenching her fist to comport herself, Amelia stared at the floor and took a step back. "I'm fine," she said.

Timidly lifting her face a little, she looked around the well-equipped garage, "I'm okay here. I can spend the night here. Thanks a lot for your help," she tried not to sound how she felt but she couldn't help it. Her voice came out just exactly as she felt and she ended up sounding like a broken device.

Cullen shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly, and nodded, "Okay, suit yourself," and with those words, he walked away from her, to the direction of his door.

Amelia watched his back until he walked away. She hoped he would turn to her, and try to persuade her. But she was wrong. He did no such thing.

Well, who was she? What made her think that way? Just because he offered a little help doesn't mean he won't feel the same as the others when it comes to her.

When his hand turned his doorknob and he walked in, Amelia dropped to the floor weakly. She felt extremely dizzy after all that happened today.

Her hand rubbed her now flat stomach. Her heart shattered into a thousand pieces, she missed her bloated stomach.

Amelia looked at her stomach, tears in her eyes. "Why did you have to leave? Why did you have to go alone and abandon Mummy? When you first kicked, when I felt you for the first time, I asked you to kick again if you would forever stay with me and you did. You kicked again, so now why did you go?" tears rolled down her eyes, "You never thought of Mummy? I thought we had just ourselves. What happened to your promise baby?"

Her voice broke, making it hard for her to speak properly but she fought through, "You were the best thing that has ever happened to me after seven years. I suffered… I knew I suffered but I was determined to live for the light in your eyes. I was determined to do everything for you. I was determined to escape that marriage to help you live with love," she coughed out her tears, "It would've just been you and I.." she trailed off.

Her small sobs got louder and turned into heart-wrenching tears. She palmed her lips to hold it back so she wouldn't disturb the occupants of the house. The last thing she wanted was to be seen or thrown out. Regardless, on second thought, she decided to lift the burden off her heart.

Tears are words the mouth can't let out, so she cried. She let her voice out and released all of her tears and shouts. She released all of her fears and cried hard, wetting the garage floor. With a heavy heart, she repeatedly slammed her fist on the floor.

Anger!

Amelia felt anger running deep through her veins. She felt useless. How could she have let them take her child? How was she so helpless to allow that?

How could she have allowed her best friend, who she would sacrifice her life for at any moment, to treat her unfairly for years?

Her heart clenched, and she sobbed her hardest until breathing became so difficult for her. Her throat burned and her eyes felt raw pain. However, her tears came out relentlessly.

Amelia raised her face to the heavens, "Father," she whispered solemnly with a bitter but gorgeous smile at the corner of her lips.

Her body trembled greatly when she mentioned her father. Memories began to flood her mind, turning her limp.

Tiredly, Amelia fell to the floor and lay on her side. She folded her legs to her chest and hugged herself protectively. The night wind blew strongly, causing her to shiver but it helped nothing. It wasn't able to take away half of the pain she felt.

She raised her hands to her face and fixed her eyes on her ring finger. She stared at the beautiful diamond ring silently.

"You'd pay for this, I promise," she vowed, in tears. "I promise, you all would pay for this. No one would be exempted, I promise you all would pay for the life of my child," she sniffed, "It won't take too long,"

Please support Amelia~
