Ch.35 The First

The First looked at the people around her. She came into this family just three months ago. She had lost her memories and didn't know who she was. She was just 16 years old with no memory but she still gritted through and found odd jobs to survive.

Fortunately, she was talented enough and not only did she survive, she became stronger on her own. 3 months ago, she went into a tournament to get the prize money. She knew winning wouldn't be difficult. Unexpectedly one of the participants in the tournament was one of the protectors of Teran nobles.

Even now she didn't know why was protector that had an annual income of weekly would participate in a tournament. The protector informed the family and they wanted to hire her.

She didn't have anything else to do at the time and thought it wouldn't be bad to get the annual income weekly and rest from danger for while. She didn't have a name either so when she became the first protector, people started calling her First. The Terans were good nobles except for one rotten child.

That was the woman crying in front of her. She was always causing trouble and she knew no matter what she did, the family wouldn't punish her. The first protector wanted to help her a few times and straighten her personality.

As Beina was older than First, she wouldn't listen to anything a "brat" said and would retort sometimes back" Just because you are a little strong doesn't mean, you are something. Remember, you are my employee"

After that time, First had a bad impression of her and tried to stay far from her. Getting involved with her was a pointless, idiotic thing to do and certainly the situation they were in now proved how right she was.

" Fourth, explain what happened and do not try to hide any information for Beina's sake. If I find anything wrong, I don't mind leaving you with whatever problem you created" That's right, First was threatening by leaving with his missions alone If he played tricks.

It seemed to work as fourth-sighted. First always helped him with dangerous missions, thanks to her he was still alive. He was about to speak but suddenly the madam yelled" Truth? explain? do you not see there's someone who's injured? My daughter is suffering and you want to talk "

The First calmly looked at the madam. She was always unreasonable when it came to her daughter. Beina was not injured at all, the one who was injured was fourth. The blood that dried on his clothes told the tough battle he went through.

" I never asked Beina or anyone else to stay. I want Fouth to talk. Even if I asked what possible could she remember as she was probably panicking or even passed out " First didn't hold back her thought

Beina hated this vile woman. The only one who wasn't bending to her will. Who does she think she is just a servant? She looked at her mother and said meekly" Mother,I came back from the gates of death and this is how my family welcomes me back, maybe I should have died"

" Die? Don't ever say such an ominous word. We will deal with her later, you just need to recover first" while saying, she took her inside. The personal doctor of the family was waiting at the door.

First look at the Beina and her mother departing. She honestly didn't know how to blame Beinas mother. After all, which mother would be able to stay calm knowing they are hurt (or at least think they were), maybe her mother was that?

She was abandoned, maybe her parents got sick of her. She sometimes got those negative thoughts, not knowing something would make her imagination wild. If one thing she was jealous of Beina, it was having a mother.

Dismissing her weird thoughts, she turned to see the lord was still standing. As the family head, he had obligations and had to strive for the best options. His eyes were still looking at the door but he didn't move.

Fourth saw the situation calmed down and from the way first was looking at him. It was time for him to talk. He took a deep breath in and told everything he knew.

"Lastly a message from the Cloud monster. He will come to visit us and the target is the young miss."

Everyone at the present was silently thinking and digesting what Fourth said just now. For while, the only sound everyone heard was the rustling of the leaves.

The one who broke the silence was the young master" From what Fourth said, the monster's force was only the cloud creature. Other monsters were only medium and aren't a threat to us. We only need to seal the cloud and victory is ours"

" I disagree, you should never underestimate your enemy. That cloud is definitely not normal and he was confident enough to say he will come to that gate. The other concern is, among the ones that were with the cloud were humans as well"

That's right. First attention didn't only stay on the cloud but also on his companions. For one who survive merely thanks to her caution, First didn't miss any clues.

" The cloud monster must've somehow found a way to control humans. The monster is treating humans as its slave, this act is the true nature of monsters." The wife who came back said angrily. She hasn't still calmed down. While the fourth was telling the story. She made her daughter sleep peacefully with medication and returned.

" Their strength is far away from threatening us, let alone coming to Tartiib. The city has the third strongest military in the whole country. If they really dared to show up, they will be destroyed the moment they enter the city" The lord analyzed calmly.

-The next day

Beina who had rested. Her body wasn't injured but her mind was unstable yesterday. The woman hasn't suffered in all her life, not once and she almost died a few days ago. Now knowing she was safe within the vicinity of the city, she was back to her usual.

After the whole family had dinner together. They went into their garden and Beina decided to ask " Father and mother, when will the forest monster be eradicated?"

Nobody expected this question to arise as they all considered it impossible, to begin with. The father sighed and explained " Dear, that forest isn't normal. Even if all of this city attacked, we wouldn't be certain of our victory"

Beina felt her father was just making excuses and yelled " Father, don't you care about me anymore? How could that forest be as strong as our city, even the villages near it live piecefully. They are afraid of humans and that's why the monsters don't dare to attack. Those such monsters attacked me, mother!!!"

The madam looked at her daughter madly still yelling. There were many peoples telling her she was spoiling but she didn't mind that she was spoiling her. Now her own daughter was yelling at her father and she didn't believe his words!

Pa!

A loud crisp sound was heard. The madam actually stood up and slapped her daughter for the first time in her life. Everyone couldn't believe what was happening.

" I may turn blind eye to the taboo you have committed. The taboo that should have never been committed as beast tamers, killing blindly beast is the highest taboo for us. How dare you yell at your own father, the one who was always covering for you, when you made a ruckus in the city daily"

Everybody heard clearly when Fourt told that the young had committed taboo by killing a beast who was already heavily damaged. This act was considered taboo in the families of the beast tamer. Beast tamers made the connection and didn't kill other beasts unless they had hostile against each other.

Beina couldn't believe her mother hit her as a stream of tears came from her eyes. This still did not make her mother calm down. The maid ran and gave the young miss a tissue to wipe her tears.

Unknowingly the maid became the target of her anger, how humiliating it was for a servant to see her cry. She was about to slap the maid who gave her tissue but her hand was stopped by First.

With the First Strength, it was impossible to get hurt by Beina's attack. She couldn't let the innocent maid get slapped for caring and doing their jobs. This made Beina even more furious, everyone was against her today. Now that it came to this, she had to deal at least with First.

" Mother and father, am sorry for yelling. I was still nervous about almost dying. I am sure mother and father were more worried than anyone else about my health"

Seeing their daughter admit her mistake, the mother finally let go of her cold eyes as traces of warmth returned to them. It was fine to make mistakes but one needed to apologize and correct them.

" Good, I see you are finally growing up. This is a joyous day. Someone get me a desert for my daughter" The father said happily.

First look at this family and couldn't help but wonder if this was actually functioning. The parents wanted to believe in their daughter and bought her lies easily. It didn't matter to her as long as she got her payment, this was just another odd job to her.
