Start Of The Big Journey

"What happened..."

"Where am i"

"Did i... Die?"

Jack was floating in a nothingness, the last thing he remembered was hearing a gunshot.

"Ah i see, looks like they got to me huh..." Jack became silent, smiled, and said "Well, what did i expect reviewing the files in the underground bunker with no security..."

He looked around, this place was filled with only darkness, he could not even feel his heartbeat in this silent space.

"Well, is this then the afterlife?"

"It's a bit bland and boring, where are all the flying people with wings and harps" Jack joked to himself and looked ahead.

"Huh... this doesn't seem bad... just a silent place, just like i like it"

Jack closed his eyes.

--

"PHHHHGGHHH" Jack's eyes suddenly jolted open, he felt like someone restarted his heartbeat, and for a moment he could not breathe at all, he was like a newborn coming out of his mother's belly

"WHAT... God, crap, what was that... i felt like drowning in the water"

He put his hand on his forehead, it was filled with sweat.

Jack calmed his heart down and looked around, he was in some kind of building.

"Wait, isn't this the building i died?" he was sitting on the same chair as before, even the table was the same it's just... it looked new, like someone made it a few days ago.

He jumped back from his chair and looked around, he wasn't seeing anyone there, this place looked renewed, cracks in the walls were fixed, cement floor was looking new.

"What the fuck, did i resurrect? there is no way i would survive a headshot as i heard"

Jack was extremely confused, his asthma disappeared, in the past moment he got a little bit nervous that asthma would immediately come to annoy him but now... he could breathe completely normally, he immediately looked in the windows close by, after seeing what happened to his body he was shocked.

He looked young, from his old age of 39 he was already starting to develop wrinkles from all that work.

But now he looked like an Athlete he was in the past.

Jack smiled first time in 5 years, he waved his hand around and checked his muscles, they were defined, he was really happy right now, his deteriorating health was healed. but something came to his mind immediately after happiness passed.

"Just what happened, did i get somehow saved? there is something at play here" Jack didn't let himself get happy just yet, he was always a critical thinker.

He immediately went out of the building, he had to see what happened outside.

--

Jack went along in a long corridor that was looking very newly built, when he came here before it was rat-infested, the smell of unbearable gas almost made him pass out, he even thought about taking out his gas mask, but now this uncomfortable feeling disappeared like his deteriorating health.

Sounds of footsteps could be heard in a dark corridor as Jack got closer and closer to the steel bunker gate in his front.

"KRRRRRRRRRCH"

Jack with his newfound strength quickly opened the door and looked outside.

"Oh, crap..." Jack forgot he was in the bunker for 2 hours, his eyes were pretty much fucked up from all that unbearable darkness inside.

Jack's eyes needed some time to get used to the enormous light that assaulted his cornea but once they got used to the light Jack almost passed out there.

"What... oh my god... OH MY FUCKING GOD WHAT!!!" Jack yelled this sentence out.

The place he was right now... it wasn't a place that he knew in the past.

Jack's heartbeat got faster and faster.

He looked around just to see modern buildings completely gone, only aesthetic old buildings could be seen, the futuristic car that he was so proud to own was gone, and in its place old Wheeled vehicle could be seen.

On the roads, people still were using horses and carriages.

Jack wanted to say something but words stuck inside of his mouth, this was just too unbelievable.

This was the exact time described in the journals he was reading before, Just after the second industrial revolution when cars became super popular.

But most importantly the case he was investigating before he died was...

"Unsolvable Mystery Of Jack The Ripper"

He was investigating hidden clues from the police that were uncovered in the drillings that happened in London in 2035.

"Okay... okay... breathe... there is some kind of scientific explanation for this, there is no way i would just travel in time, not even the greatest scientists could understand the concept of time... there is just no way i would break the knowledge of their lives work" Jack got out of the bunker while thinking nonsense to calm himself down, he could not be agitated this much, his worldview was shattered but his common sense was still here.

He immediately went out to ask someone where he was.

--

On the road, he stopped a pedestrian.

"Hello good sir, sorry for the inconvenience but can you tell me what year it is?" Jack asked someone with a polite smile and refreshing voice.

The Pedestrian looked at him while wearing a traditional English bowtie and said with a very strong English accent.

"It's the year 1888, March. I say you appear rather pallid and peculiar, sir. I strongly advise you to seek the services of a doctor."

Jack looked at his white shirt and saw it was filled with sweat, he smiled nervously and said to the pedestrian with a polite smile "Thank you, i will."

He walked off.

At this time Jack's thought of this being a dream was shattered, he could feel the cold wind blowing to his face, the sense of touch was real, and he could feel fabric when he touched the hand of the Englishman before.

Jack went to his car and simply looked at the city.

"I can't believe it but... it seems i time-traveled, for real this time..."

Jack said this quietly as his critical mind tried to comprehend what just happened, and what would happen in the future times.
