Chapter 41

Cardan left the exam room after finishing writing Mathematics and as always he was one of the last students to leave the exam room. Students had already began coming to the assumption that Cardan was stupid and being put in class A was an error on the teacher's part.

Zaden had gotten used to it by now.

As Cardan was making his way to the basketball court where Zaden usually went as soon as he finished writing he noticed a few students filled with stress.

Some were year twelve students and others where in his grade.

All the grades had been writing Mathematics today and based on their reactions they didn't done so well. Not like it was any of his business.

As soon as he made it to the court his eyes found Noa before Zaden. He immediately made his way to them with a smile on his face.

But that smile left just as quickly when he noticed Brianna was with them talking about something that gained their interest.

"...that's why she's leaving" as soon as he arrived all eyes turned to him as Brianna finished her sentence.

"Oh hey Cardan" Noa greeted as soon as Brianna finished speaking with a blush on her face.

Zaden followed after then Brianna.

"So what did I miss?" Cardan asked as he took a seat right next to Noa.

"Wren is dropping out of school. Apparently she got scouted by an idol entertainment company. I guess she lied about wanting to become an actress then" Brianna said in a small voice filled with foreign surprise and betrayal as if they where friends.

Cardan rolled his eyes.

"I guess having money really does open doors for you" she continued this time her tone was filled with ridicule.

Deciding that he'd heard enough Cardan began speaking "Wren didn't drop out of school she'll still continue with her education the only difference is that she'll be home schooled and I admit she does have her 'issues' but she's still talented. Either way her pride would never allow her to cheat her way through anything." Cardan finished and as soon as he was done speaking all eyes where on him in shock.

"How do you know so much about her?" Noa asked after a long silence.

Taken off guard Cardan turned to her clearing his throat he answered "Did you forget I'm her so called 'persant' so she tells me almost everything"

"Oh I'd forgotten about that" Zaden said as he took a drink of water. His hair had grown a bit which gave him a more boyish look but Cardan was sure that he'd cut it off.

"She's also paying me now" Cardan added as he looked at Zaden as he made his way to lay down.

"About damn time" Zaden replied.

Brianna and Noa looked at the two in surprise.

"Since when where you Wren's slave?" Noa questioned dumbfounded.

Cardan replied "After she made me quit she called me again and forced me to work for her."

Noa's eyes narrowed at his answer "She forced you?"

Unaware of her change Cardan replied "Mmh although now she's paying me which is good all on its own"

"So basically she made you her doormat, and is giving you hush money so that you don't say anything to her or complain to an adult" Noa stated.

Cardan and Zaden looked at her in surprise.

"You're right Noa and how can we be sure that what she told you was the truth. For all we know she could be lying" Brianna said as if she was worried.

"What...?" it was now Cardan's turn to be dumbfounded.

"We'll continue this later I have see teacher Cin." Noa said as she stood up "We'll report this to the student government but then again she's already leaving after this term so we'll have to find another way to deal with her." not giving Cardan a chance to speak she left with Brianna following right behind her.

"...What just happened?" Cardan turned to Zaden who had been trying to contain his laughter.

"I think she believes that you're getting bullied" Zaden responsed after managing to calm himself down.

Sighing Cardan decided to just forget about it "I heard we're getting our marks next week and soon we'll be going back to debate"

Zaden nodded "Yeah we are and soon the holidays will begin. I'll be free during then so what are you going to do."

"I'll be working for a few more hours and maybe start a business. What you want to join me" Cardan replied as his eye looked at the clear blue sky.

Zaden laughed a little"Yeah I'll be joining you I'll have nothing else to do and what's this business idea you're talking about" Zaden finished.

"You'll see I just need to convince someone to invest in it" Cardan said. He had decided to start making money before he would be cut off.

Although this was a poverty test it didn't mean that he'd have to starve and not do anything while waiting for it to finish. Although he couldn't use card they had given him to buy anything but his basic needs he'd be fine since it made it easier for him to spend his salary on other things.

"You that confident that your business plan will succeed?" Zaden looked at him in interest. He wasn't the kind of person to be interested in businesses he was more into taekwondo and basketball.

"Yep" Cardan popped the P as he replied before adding "And if they don't accept my offer I'll just offer it to them again and it they continue on refusing I'll move on to someone else who sees the same vision as I do."

'Or I'll start it myself' Cardan added the last bit in his head.

Zaden looked at him for a while. There was something telling him to believe in Cardan's words "Alright then"
