Chapter 48: Avram's Wrath

Avram sneered, cracking his knuckles and baring his claws. "You vile things come in packs, don't you? All the same, I think I'll have a little fun with you before I kill you both."

"It will be a cold day in hell," Ember growled, before charging at Avram.

Malcolm was right behind her and they both struck out at Avram simultaneously, Ember with her dagger and Malcolm with his two short swords. Avram was quick and dodged their blades with ease.

Ember had already recovered from her first strike and swiped her blade at Avram, barely missing as he phased out of view. They turned in a circle looking for where he would reappear and when he did, Avram slashed at Malcolm catching his arm.

Malcolm let out a cry of pain, dropping his sword, but with his uninjured hand, he thrust the blade at Avram and caught him in the calf. With a hiss of rage, Avram kicked Malcolm, sending him several feet away to slide to a stop on the stone floor.
