Chapter 16: Ready For Those Flashing Lights
Takoda soared over the treetops, his body buzzing as he approached Ophelia’s cabin. There she was, like clockwork, on her back porch leaning against one of the wooden beams framing the stairs.
He sighed, even from a distance her radiance was all-encompassing. She’d make fun of him for thinking that but it did not negate the truth of the matter. To him, she was a lantern and he was but a simple-minded moth drawn to her beauty. She could be the death of him, it would matter little.
He landed, less gracefully than he had hoped, and walked up to the woman who had taken over his dreams. She was giggling, that delicious sound that dripped like honey from her lips. How he wanted to taste them again.
Shaking his head, he focused as he realized she had begun to speak. “So, I was wondering, how much can you carry while flying?”
