Chapter 5: Continuous fights!!

Chapter-5: Continuous fights!!

I wasn't flustered as I saw 4 goblins rushing towards me. From my previous clash, I knew that I was more agile than them if not stronger. I felt that it was worth it investing in agility as It gave me confidence. I could see their attacks clearly and could dodge them easily. This gave me a little boost and I took a deep breath and scanned my surrounding to look for something that could give me an advantage.

I didn't see any narrow hall or passage that could make the fight easier. I knew that I could only fight head-on. So, I equipped my sword and lunged at them.

The goblins weren't together as they were still some distance apart. I dodged the attacks of the first three heavy ax swings and I blocked the last one. I discovered that I was stronger than it by probably only one or two points. Before it could react, I slashed it twice.

Horizontal slash-60

Vertical slash-60

I was so focused on the last goblin that I forgot that there were still 4 goblins behind me. Before I could throw another strike, I felt an alarm ring all over the body. I didn't know what it was. I knew that I was in danger. I could feel time slow down. I jumped from where I was standing to anywhere I could instantly.

I didn't know if I dodged that blow or not as I didn't feel any pain. This attack taught me that I should never show my back to my enemies. Though it didn't make the most of it, I might not be lucky later. I had nothing worth mentioning until now. I had thought that I would become like MCs from all the stuff I read. But I discovered that it was extremely hard. Only fighting low levelled monsters with no intelligence was already hard. I was an optimistic person all my life so, I thought that I should look at it from another perspective. I was just starting to fight. This wasn't even my 2nd day fighting. Many protagonists started from much lower points. I was fortunate to have my healthy body and all the knowledge they didn't.

I then regained my confidence again. I thought that I should counter instead of dodging their attacks if I could as it would injure them and maybe reduce their combat abilities or something.

So, I dodged then threw a strike, and then again dodged. I was dancing here and there while throwing my slashes or chops. Once again, I realized the plus points of having higher agility. As time progressed, I was getting more and more hits. I would occasionally fail to dodge their strike sometimes and get hit. But still, I didn't stop as I believed that I could finish them before they finished me.

But I soon found out that I was only fooling myself as I saw my health at red points already. I had only 50 HP remaining, while there were still 4 goblins with 820HP, 580HP, 400HP, and 120HP.

I backed down and created a small distance between us as I needed to ponder on what to do now. I remembered that one could restore my full health if I levelled up right now in most of the games. I felt that I needed to take the chance as I could level up if I killed them. We had differences of level 6, so, they should be giving me a bigger amount of exp. I looked for the previous notice which should have been about killing the goblin.

Notice:

Congratulations on killing Level 11 Brown Horned Goblin-300exp

6 level differences noticed.

+100% bonus in exp.

Total exp=600 exp

I needed 1000 exp to level up and I only got 600 exp despite the 6-level gap. I needed to kill another one to level up. I looked towards them and looked for one with the lowest HP. I felt that I should focus on one and kill it to level up right now. And I found one with only 120HP remaining. I only needed to connect two shots or maybe one critical hit to kill it. I was glad that they weren't much intelligent. If they were, they might have already noticed my low HP and lunged at me.

I cautiously approached them. I was ready to dodge or parry anything they threw at me before I could get a chance to kill the middle one. They attacked me and I focused on dodging them waiting for the perfect moment. I tried to change their order while dancing here and there. I attacked finally when the previous middle one with 120HP was at the last position. I connected both chops and I was glad to hear the system announcement for the first time.

I backed down and used my 1000 exp for level up.

Name: Shiva

Level 6 (200/2000exp)

HP: 740HP

I used all four points on agility.

I was glad to see full HP and it also increased from 640HP to 740HP this time.

I felt confident and again went for close combat with my full HP. This time I was more cautious and attacked more decisively. After some time, I killed all 3 goblins with my 460HP remaining.

I saw the announcement again but this time I didn't see any bonus exp.

Notice: *3

Congratulations on killing Level 11 Brown Horned Goblin-300exp

Level 5 difference noted. No bonus added.

Total=300 exp

I discovered that I could get bonus exp only with 6 or higher-level differences. I rested for a moment and only then searched for the loots. I found 3 red cores and 3 items. 1 of them being a rare item. I knew that it was because of my lucks.

1. Beginner's armor (Level-11) (Common)

Defense +10 HP +50 Agility -2

2. Beginner's Sword (Level-11) (Common)

Strength +4 +20 Attack Power Durability 50/50

3. Leather bag (Rare-storage)

(0/100)

Though the rare item was storage-type item, I didn't feel bad for it. I urgently needed a storage item right now and it came right on time. I noticed that the Level 11 sword's attributes were similar to The Stake at Level-5 only. They were similar in strength despite the 6-level gap between them.

I then stored all the loots and headed for the door to seek the next stage. I equipped the armor right away despite -2 in agility. I already had 22 agilities right now. Reducing -2 shouldn't be much problem as it could boost my defense and attack power.

When I approached the door, I was a bit nervous as I didn't know what type of monsters awaited me next. I took a deep breath, remembered the almighty Shiva, and opened the door.

The instant I opened the door, I could feel the chilly wind flowing through me from inside the door. I could see a big hall sized about one football ground. There were 5 statues placed across the hall each equal distance from the other. When I approached the first statue, it lit up and the next moment it came to life. I wasn't surprised when it came into life as it was already within my calculations. I was just worried if all statues would awaken at the same time. Fortunately, only one lit up at first and it was the smallest one among them.

Red Horned Chilly Goblin (Level-12) (Rare monster)

HP 2000/2000

This goblin didn't have any weapons but its hands looked like Wolverines with long, pointy needles coming out of each finger.

Despite being a goblin, it looked at me as if a wolf was looking at its prey. It eyed me for some time probably trying to intimidate me or looking for the best chance. I also didn't make any move but instead waited patiently for its move. I wanted to see what it would do.

I waited, waited, and waited but still, it didn't make any move. It just circled around me. I wanted to see what it would do. Seeing it not making any move, I felt as if I was wasting time. I could have got more experience and kills instead of wasting time. So, I moved towards it slowly. I didn't lunge at it this time.

I wasn't thinking of anything. I just approached it cautiously. The Chilly looked at me approaching it slowly and finally made its move when I was 2 meters in front of it.

10 needles were thrown toward me at an instant each from different angles and probably covering all my dodging possibilities. Only then I discovered why it didn't attack me or just waited for me. It was probably because of this skill.

Still, I wasn't one to be underestimated either. I could see the 10 needles coming at me in a way that restricted my dodging possibilities from all four directions. So, I waited for a while and jumped upward when they neared me. I got lucky but still one managed to hit me in my leg.

-10

The damage done was minimal but I knew why this move was dangerous despite its low damage.

Warning: Poison detected

Deals -5 damage every second.

I had 790 HP initially. So, I had about 156 seconds before the poison finished me. I had to kill it before it happened; in case it dropped antidote. Else I would have to look for some clues here for dispelling the poison. I felt that killing it would get me the antidote.

So, I rushed at it the next instant as I could already see the needles restoring themselves at its hand.

Slash-30

I was shocked to see that I dealt only 30 damage to it. Only now I noticed that its body was covered in armor. By the time, I came back to myself, it had already restored its needles. It attacked me with its pointy needles. I jumped back in desperation. I barely escaped its claws. Before I could relax, it again threw its needles toward me. Now I was shocked. This goblin was giving me a hard time. I tried to dodge them this time jumping backward. Two needles hit me. I was lucky that they hit the armor instead of my flesh. I then felt that my decision to wear the armor was a good one. I only then realized the benefits of armor and heavy defenses. I should look to strengthen my defense next time I thought.

I again lunged at it and attacked it endlessly with continuous chops or slashes. But this time I focused mainly on its joints where it wouldn't have any defense.

Chop-60

Slash-30

Critical hit-60

Chop-30

I chipped its HP as fast as possible by attacking its joints. So, its HP hit 0 and it hit the floor.

Though I managed to kill it, I had only 400HP remaining by the time I killed it.

Congratulations on killing Red Horned Chilly Goblin 600exp

Level 6 difference noted.

+100% bonus in exp.

Total=1200 exp

As the poison was still taking my health, I didn't waste any more time and collected the loots. It had dropped a red core, 3 potions, and a helmet.

Heals the deadly poison of this dungeon.

2. Chilly Helmet (Level-12) (Rare)

+4 Defense +20 HP

Set effect: +50% HP (Collect all pieces to activate the set effect)

I drank the first potion which stopped the damage from the poison. Then I equipped the Helmet and looked at my current stats.
