Chapter 30: You're On Your Own, Kid

Kate focused on practicing her viola for the following week. She used every spare second she could find obsessively going over compositions and discussing where she needed improving with Professor Darby. She would often forget to eat and Theo had to bring her feed or drag her to the dining hall. She tried to lessen her sleep for more practice time and was running on average of four hours a night.

Exhaustion was creeping up on her and Kate knew she couldn't sustain this but she only had to make it to graduation. Theo was concerned and tried to get her to rest. He fed on her less because she needed her energy more than ever. He took little doses and began to look the worse for wear as he tried to wait as long as he could between feedings.
