Chapter 28: Could've, Would've, Should've

*Present Day*

Kate was still trying to process what she had learned at the New Year's Eve party. She didn't know what to do about Theo. How did she even begin to figure out what her next move should be? She didn't think that the price for their ritual would be this.

She didn't know how things got so complicated. She just wanted her boyfriend back.

Kate was travelling back to Nimue the next day but she still had some time left to spend with her grandparents. If they had noticed she had retreated into herself more they didn't mention it. Her grandparents had always been open to talking but didn't like to push.

Her mother had told Kate once that they had been different when she and her siblings were growing up but time could mellow people out as life went on. They let Kate come to them instead of badgering her to open up which she appreciated.
