Chapter Three

Thought fresh in her mind, Kasie stopped as she passed the closet as she pulled down the linen pillowcase, put it under her arm before moving like a soldier toward the end of the wall. She stood frozen at the door to Number Eight, very scared to face David. The nervousness was a far cry from the anger she wanted to feel. Despite what he had done,there was still a dangerous attraction in her. The love she had for him hadn't faded after she got rejected by him in front of his friends. She still had a little hope that he will say he was protecting her in front of his friends. But when he left town before the date he was suppose to leave town, she had no other choice but to bury the love she have for him.

In order to forget about him,she started to date two men after that night. One was a manager at the rockview hotel while the other man was a medical doctor at Divine Mercy Hospital. They got attracted to her. No one was willing to let her go so she decided to date the two men at a time.

Whenever she tried to take their relationship to the next level,she got scared of being betrayed again. Passion was a dangerous emotion and she wasn't willing to risk her heart for the second time. So she decided to build a quiet and secure life for herself. She was been called an ice queen by her ex boyfriends, she doesn't care what her ex boyfriend or people called her. All she wants is to protect herself from heart break. Kasie stiffened her spine refusing to dither any longer. David never know what he made her feel and he try to take advantage of the situation.

Kasie took a deep breath and was ready to see him so she knocked on the door as the door opened the door, Kasie heart started thundering behind her ribs but it was Sophie who happens to open the door. Sophie smiled to Kasie and she smiled back to her.

"Is that my snacks".David asked

Kasie blinked away the flash of David skivvies. Y----yes as she stammered, trying to change her mind from the disturbing enticing vision. I came to give you the pillowcase i promised you, she said.

Sophie took a deep breath, with a sweet little gasp of awe and gratitude. She took the pillowcase and thanked Miss Kasie. You are welcomed, answered Kasie.

Sophie gave Kasie a tight hug while the door to the bathroom flew open at that moment. He froze at the doorstep immediately he saw Kasie. Kasie could only stare at his bare chested. His jeans were zipped and the button was undone. He had a towel tossed over one strong and muscular shoulder and also had those damned six-pack abs. He walked towards her and reached for the tray. When his fingers made contact with Kasie's hand, Kasie jerked her hands away,nearly upsetting the glass.

"I–I'm s-sorry". She went back to the door. I hope you like your snack,she asked Sophie. Remember, breakfast is at nine. She left the room and closed the door.she got a hold of herself,rested her head on the door and took a deep breath while her heart was still pounding heavily. She didn't want his mere presence affect her so badly. He was nothing more than a mouse in men's clothing. Small clothing for that matter but a mouse is always a mouse no matter what did or didn't wear.

Determined to find her center and also calm her troubled mind.She closed up her house for the night and retreated to the tower room.The room had once been the maid's room but she changed it to be her retreat room. Everyone in her life had someone apart from her. Whenever she is upset, her refuge was a place not a person.she wanted it that way as she reminded herself of it. Instead for her to wallow,she yanked at the buttons of her shirt and moved toward her dresser. The turbulent weather was working on her or maybe the shock of seeing David's body or his touch. Trying to shake herself from the observation,she removed her clothes and got into her leotard.

An hour later, she twisted and stretched into yoga position she knew and tried the ones she didn't know. Fresh from the shower,she climbed into the bed acknowledge the truth,she is still in love with David,the past still haunted her. Her early life had gone along just fine. Turmoil started when she decided to stay at Anna's house during graduation night eight years ago. Immediately she turned out the light in Torthuil's kitchen after washing the dirty dishes then David's voice drifted in the back screen door of Wilson's farmhouse.

She loved David with all her body and soul but later got tired of been ignored by the man she loved.she hoped it was a sexy stance,really hoping that he would realized she had grown up in his absence which David didn't do. He tried to warn her off after a hearty gulp of air but it was late because she had won. She run her index finger down his chest and across his sexy abs and passion had exploded between them.

Kasie got up in bed. The storm raged outside her snug tower lair and she was soaked to the skin,and also soaked with sweat. She went back to the place she sworn never to go again and because David Wilson was under her roof.

David was near the window watching Sophie sleep. Seeing Kasie again brought back the memories of the painful past which became a huge turning point in his life. Kasie seems different,he thought.she always worn a smile in her face,good to his princess and that met his heart.
