Chapter Two

Kasie couldn't send the child back into the storm because of how angry she was. The look in David's said he was aware of the deteriorating conditions. Kasie said she can't send a cat out into this weather and certainly not couple with a child. She asked about his wife.

David was surprise by Kasie's question. All his friends, family and loved ones knew the story behind his inconvenient marriage.

it's just Sophie and me. He answered and then gave his daughter a big tight hug. Sophie pulled her hair off his daddy's shoulder to kiss him on the cheek. She gave Kasie a cute smile and said, "Daddy and me are partners. We do everything together and we are inseparable.

Kasie smiled back at Sophie and said. "I have a room with twin beds and i don't think Sophie wants to be far from her partner on a night like this.

David frowned and said, "If you could show us to the room, I'll get Sophie settled then go back for our luggage.

"You want to leave her all alone in the room" Kasie asked. You can go ahead,i will keep an eye on your little princess.

David agreed even though little princess wanted to go with him so that she could talk to snow, but David wasn't sure he was comfortable leaving his little princess with Kasie.

Kasie assured him that his princess will be fine with her. He later agreed and said he won't be more than one minute or two. Immediately he reached the edge of the restored Happiness porch, the sky lit up once again. In a distance,he would swear he'd seen what looked like a Tuscan village. The next flash, row of grapevines blinked into view before the dark of night returned to hide them. A clap of thunder reminded him of his mission. Without any delay, David ducked his head and ran out into the torrential rain. He ran to the truck and brought out their luggage and then noticed that Sophie precious stuffed dog abandoned on the floor. He picked it up and went back to the house where his princess was waiting for him.

Sophie was just ten months old when one of her brothers sent the stuffed animal for Christmas. After been seen it under the tree,she said "Dog-dog". Sophie first word was "Da-da",then "Dog-dog". The toy had been her companion since her siblings are not around. Sophie mother Eucharia had walked out of their life before the toy arrived.

David got married to Eucharia when he found out that she was pregnant with his child. The condom he used during that time failed him so she became angry about the pregnancy and the disruption of her acting career. Eucharia wanted to abort the pregnancy but David was able convince her to keep the baby because of her upbringing in Catholic church.

Eucharia got married to him only because of legal and insurance purposes. They never lived like husband and wife. Once in a while,she visit Sophie but later on she decided to cut all ties with her daughter and the father.

Sophie had been his only family since she came back from the hospital. He got a new nanny for Sophie due to the kind of business he was into.Sophie had more than sixty aunts and uncles who pamper her so much that she hardly notice that she have no mother of her own.

Lightning struck again, reminding her that she have a father and she was missing him so much.

He ran to the front porch on his way back from work after he saw the White Snow with gritted teeth. He had the same reaction to Kasie the very first day he was aware of the little princess growing up on the property next to Torthuil. She'd been upstream with her family on a picnic. The current caught her inner tube and carried her away from them. She'd been laughing happily when he fished her out of the river near Torthuil's levee. She'd truly looked the part by the time she'd hit her teenage years.

As predicted by an old saying of his mum, been absent had really made his heart to grow fonder when he had come home for his sister Anna's graduation. Kasie graduation was also on the day. He thought that Kasie was still as innocent as her fairy-tale ego but he was proven wrong.she had turned into a seductress in his absent.

David entered the lobby where he froze in place while Sophie sat on the step below Kasie while she help comb her hair inorder for the hair to be untangled. She didn't want it to cut short and she didn't want the tangles combed out either. After Kasie was through with combing it,she braided it and then she went to bed. After seeing Kasie attend to his princess,he went into a big thought how Sophie was never attended to by her mother. He was happy.

Kasie handed him the key to his room and when their hands met, he felt the familiar surge of raw need rush through him. He remembered what happened between them years back. Kasie felt it too. David took back his hand. He had reason for returning and definitely not for Kasie.

Kasie sexy eyes had gone hard as stone revealing to him that she felt the same attraction she was had for him. As she went back to her room, David watched her go away,brought out his tongue at her retreating back.

Kasie went to bring a glass of vanilla soy milk with a plate of cookies for Sophie because she wanted the night to be special for her since Torthuil have been a disappointment for and she felt like every little girl should be treated like a princess. Though Sophie have only her father,she never felt the absent of her mother in this world..
