Chapter 2

Charlotte's POV

.

"Are you mad at me?" Scarlet asked after the wedding.

"No.", I shook my head. I was thinking the same when the marriage officer was asking about her accepting herself as her husband and asking him about accepting her as his wife.

I felt bad.

I really did.

But then why should I mourn over someone who was nothing but a stranger to me?

I meant it was just my crush from school days, nothing else. At the same time, this incident halted my plan for marriage, at least for a few years.

"Thank god! I felt like you would hate me for doing this to you." Scarlet released a deep breath which she was holding for god knows how long. "You know that I love you, right?"

"I know, Scar. I know." I nodded my head. Just because she married the man whom I wanted to get married to didn't mean I would hate her. I was sure that she would have some reason for doing so. "But I don't get it. Why do you marry him? I'm sure it is not for love for sure."

"Because I hate him," She responded. Her words were deep in venom. I couldn't help from feel worried by sensing such a strong emotion that she had for him. "And I will make sure that he will cry in pain for forcing me into this marriage."

"He did WHAT?", He forced Scarlet into this marriage, but why?

And how?

Was he the reason behind her boyfriend's disappearance?

Was he a bad guy?

"Ssshh!!", She placed her palm on my mouth. "I'm just sharing this with you. And you have to keep your mouth shut. I can deal with him on my own."

"But..."

"Trust me! Your sister is powerful enough to handle someone like him.", She smirked, and her eyes shined, and all the things in the room started floating in the air.

How could I forget that she might be a human in front of everyone but was a witch in real?

"But isn't he a human? Please don't be harsh on him."

"Human? He is anything but not a human, Lotte Choco pie! I can't risk your life by sharing more detail than this."

"Just...just take care of yourself."

"I will. And I'm sorry again for whatever I did with you today."

"It's fine.", I smiled. "Next time, I will make sure that the person whom I decide to marry is in love with me.", I joked, on which we both laughed.

"Princess, if you are feeling bad or anything, then you can talk to me." I heard Mom speaking; I didn't know when she came into my room. She sat at the window beside me.

She looked guilty and sad as if it was her whose wedding was called off because of today's drama.

"It's all my fault. I should have said those words to you on the day of your wedding.", So, she was blaming herself for whatever happened today.

"Mom," I grabbed her hand and kissed her knuckles. "I'm not sad or feeling bad, okay? And I'm sure you and your wolf can smell that.", I said with a small smile on my lips. "And I don't believe in superstition and all things. In fact, you were right; I'm just 25 years old. I will surely find someone who will love me truly. I should be traveling around the world and finding my true love, my true soulmate, instead of thinking about arranged marriage."

"You're saying all this to cheer me up, aren't you?", She asked, eyeing me suspiciously.

"You can smell that if you think that I'm lying.", I pointed confidently because I wasn't lying at all.

"Still, Princess, I'm so sorry..."

"Complete that sentence, and I promise I will cancel my plan of traveling around the world and will start thinking of another arranged marriage."

"Hell...No!", She screamed. "How can you human can even think of marrying someone who is not your soulmate? If I was you, I would have waited all my life for my mate."

I laughed, shaking my head. "I'm a human, mom. Stop giving me werewolves tips. But yes! I'm planning to give myself some time to accept everything that happened today."

"Very well, then! You can start from your Uncle's place.", She suggested. "Your Uncle was there at the wedding, so they are really worried about you. So, they asked your dad if we could send you with them to their place for a while. So that you will feel better in a new environment."

"Yeah! Not a bad idea. It has been a few years since I last visited there." I quickly agreed because this was what I wanted. A new environment, a little adventure, and a lot of fun.

"I can't believe that you're going somewhere where I'm not allowed to go.", Naomi, my best friend and the daughter of Mom's best friend, Aunt Isla, complained.

Naomi was a witch, just like her mother, so she was not allowed to visit my Uncle's place; otherwise, she might end up dying to hunters. She had thought that I would be spending time with her, but I didn't know she would reach here running from her witch training. This was her last year, for god sake. I didn't share about my wedding date with her because I knew she would do something like that and even tried to postpone my wedding, but MY CRUSH didn't want that. But it seemed like Aunt Isla told her everything that happened yesterday.

"What are you doing here in the first place?" I asked, crossing my arms around my chest.

"Really? I should be the one who should ask why did you even think of marrying someone that too without me by your side?", She glared.

"I'm sorry. I'm definitely calling you next time. I promise."

"As if I can trust you now. By the way, is it important to go there? I mean, we can choose to visit somewhere else.", She pouted like it would make me change my mind.

"Nope! Just one month more is left in your studies. You should spend time on your studies right now. I will be more than happy if you will get a job in which institute as a professor.", I said, imagining all the movie scenes of harry potter.

'A life of witch and wizards are so cool.'

"Also, until when Aunt Isla will work? You should focus on your career and get a decent job so that Aunt can take leave from her working days."

"Got it, Mom.", She grumbled, making a face.

"I'm going to miss you.", Mom said, pulling me into a tight hug. I smiled and hugged her back.

"I will miss you too, Mom. And it's just a couple of months' tour, so I will be back before you know it."

"Just inform us or your uncle or your grandpa if you are stuck in any pain.", Dad added, hugging me as well.

I laughed. "Yeah, my grandpa is god! He can appear anywhere.", I said, hugging him back.

"I don't know if he is a god or not! But he is always there for you; all you have to do is just call him.", He said and kissed my hair. "And try to stay away from any type of trouble. And don't...

"...trust on anyone easily. And always keep your phone charged. Leave a message before going anywhere." I mimicked his lines. "I know. I know, dad."

"I will be fine. Bye, everyone." I waved my hand while sitting in the car, which was going to take me to the city where my uncles were waiting for me.

"Don't forget to tell me about your SOULMATE if you find one."

There you go!

My mom and her soulmate theory!

"I will. I promise."

After traveling for seven straight hours. I finally reached Valican City (There is no city with this name. I have created it on my own.)

And the moment I reached there, my eyes widened in shock. A lot of houses were burning in the fire! People were running here and there.

No, there were not crying for help or were scared! While half of them were trying to calm down the fire, others were searching for someone or something with carrying arms in their hand.

"Holy shit!" Uncle Oscar cursed and ran toward his men, hopping out of the car!

"They can't handle a demon for a day." Uncle Owen hissed, hopping out of the car calmly.

A demon?

Did I hear it loud and clear?

I shouldn't be surprised, right? This was the adventure I was waiting for, didn't I?

One by one, everyone hopped out of both cars.

"I hope you are not scared because this is so normal here.", Olivia, my four years younger cousin, commented.

"I'm not scared.", I confessed, looking around.

"I'm sure they will kill him today because of the mess he created today. On the top, he is already injured. I doubt he can go far away from here.", She said, looking at the fire.

"Is he a fire demon?" I asked, assuming the fire was around.

"Yes!", She nodded. "Come on, let's go inside. I'm sure dad and others can deal with him."

"Won't he come here? I mean..."

"Don't worry. Everyone's house is tied with a holy thread here. So, no evil power can enter inside nor break it."

"And what if that thread break for some natural reason like you know."

"Well then, assume that you're in big trouble.", She joked, winking at me. "Come! I will show you the room."

After a while, she showed me my parent's room. "Before reaching here, dad had asked the servant to clean each and every part of the room."

"Thank you."

"I'm going to freshen up in my room. Will catch you at the time of dinner. Bye!"

"Bye!" I closed the room behind me and went directly to the washroom.

Unaware of the fact that I wasn't alone in that room.

And unaware of the fact that the thread tied in that room's window had been broken by the servant while cleaning.
