Ash Bloom, a 21st-century female office worker and avid gamer, wakes up one morning to find herself back in high school. But this isn't the high school she remembers! Instead of math and history, she's stuck learning about Spirit Beast Evolution and how to become a Beast Master. Oh, and she's somehow missed the memo that humans and magical creatures called Spirit Beast coexist in this world. As she tries to wrap her head around spirit energy, soul bonds, and a textbook that reads like a fantasy novel, Ash realizes she’s now in a world where becoming a Beast Master is the ultimate goal. Struggling with no memories from the original owner of her body, she’s left to figure it out on her own! Now she just has to pass her tests, bond with a Spirit Beast, and somehow blend in without looking like she’s just fallen out of a different dimension. No pressure, right? Note: 1. Female Main Character 2. Slow-paced story 3. No romance plot
According to the historical records Ash had studied in school, Azure Emperor, who had become regent of the Crimson Empire, was killed in the tenth year of his rule.
His death came at the hands of someone within his closest circle, a tragic result of internal conflict.
Following Azure Emperor's death, the Crimson Empire—a millennium-old reign—collapsed rapidly, spiraling from its zenith to its demise in less than twenty years.
Thus began a 1000 years separation, known as the Era of the Four Kingdoms.
Yet, for reasons Ash couldn't explain, she always felt that the death of the Azure Emperor was far more complex than the history books suggested.
After all, Azure Emperor was known as the greatest Beast Master in Gaia's history
Montis had long been home to rumors that Flarepheon, the strongest among the trio Legendary Spirit Beasts, was once Azure Emperor's contracted Spirit Beast.
Considering Flarepheon's remarkable feats—well-documented in historical texts—Ash found it hard to believe that Azure Emperor, under Flarepheon's protection, could have been assassinated so easily.
As these thoughts crossed her mind, Ash's steps halted in front of a mural.
The display case housed an illustration of a massive crimson bird in flying in the sky.
The mural unmistakably depicting Flarepheon.
Historical accounts described the Azure Emperor as a man who valued freedom above all else.
He was indifferent to political power and showed no desire for the Crimson Empire's throne.
When his elder brother, Bazuardi Yudin, fell gravely ill and sought to pass the throne to him, the Azure Emperor firmly declined, citing his unwillingness to be confined to the responsibilities of the throne.
If not for his nephew's youth and inability to shoulder the burden of governance, the Azure Emperor likely would have refused even for the role of regent.
And yet, this very man, who shunned the chains of power, met his end amidst a vicious power struggle between uncle and nephew for the throne.
The irony was almost too much to fathom.
Ash lingered before the mural of Flarepheon, pondering the incongruity of the Azure Emperor's fate.
Ash withdrew her gaze from the mural and continued walking deeper into the museum.
The small museum, situated next to the Spirit Beast Reserve, was not particularly large.
Strolling at a leisurely pace, she managed to complete a full tour of all the exhibits in under half an hour.
When Ash came out from the museum, she encountered a staff member exiting through the back door of the Spirit Beast Reserve.
The staff member noticed Ash, with her schoolbag slung over her shoulders, and smiled warmly. "Hello, student. Are you here to see the Spirit Beasts at the Spirit Beast Reserve?"
Ash nodded.
The staff member continued, "You can head over now. Little Caine and the others just finished their meal and will open the gates shortly. Sorry for the wait!"
"It's fine; I only just got here," Ash replied with a polite smile.
She left the museum and made her way toward the Spirit Beast Reserve.
