A Chance to Begin
"I remember you'll be turning 18 in about a month, right? If you plan to take the exam for the Beast Master Department, you'll need to start thinking about your contracted Spirit Beast now."
As Ash's homeroom teacher, Naveen was well aware of her family situation.
If her grandmother hadn't fallen ill, perhaps with the inheritance left by her parents, buying a regular Spirit Beast from the breeding facility in Solvale Town wouldn't have been a problem.
But now, after her grandmother's illness drained all their savings, purchasing a Spirit Beast had become an unattainable luxury for Ash.
The only option available to her was to adopt a Spirit Beast.
The Spirit Beasts available for adoption at the Spirit Beast Reserve were mainly those rescued Spirit Beast by the patrol team from the wild.
These Spirit Beasts mainly the Spirit Beast Baby who had lost their parents and couldn't survive on their own, or those who had been separated from their own species.
Although these Spirit Beasts were generally not as well-bred as those Spirit Beasts raised carefully in the breeding facility, they were much more affordable.
As long as both parties have made contact, the Spirit Beast up for adoption is willing to follow its chosen adopter, and the adopter meets the adoption standards set by the Spirit Beast Reserve—including having no history of mistreating Spirit Beasts—then, after paying a deposit of no more than 10,000 Beastdollar, they can take the Spirit Beast home.
After all, not every family in this world can afford the cost of purchasing a high-quality Spirit Beast.
For many ordinary families, adopting a tamed wild Spirit Beast from a Spirit Beast Reserve has become the best alternative.
Ash was aware of this.
Although she currently had no intention to make a contract with a Spirit Beast, what Naveen said was true: if she planned to take the Beast Master Department Practical Exam, selecting an initial Spirit Beast had to be prioritized.
When Ash came here this morning, she had been worrying about where to find a suitable Spirit Beast.

As she stepped out of the teachers' office building, sunlight filtered through the thin layer of clouds, bathing the entire campus in a soft, golden warmth.
This gentle warmth filled Ash with a sense of comfort and lifted her spirits significantly.
She felt like this was a good omen.
Having been in this world for over three months now, her life had gone from initially scrimping and saving just to get by to now having saved up a decent amount of money.
