He Miscalculated What His Wife Actually Desired

On the same Saturday afternoon, both Yuina and Ryuu had a leisurely lunch.

As Yuina had planned, she made sakura mochi together with the other dishes for lunch then the two of them went to the rooftop garden. Flowers bloomed everywhere on the rooftop as they were tended by the gardeners. Even though the view was beautiful, this place was rarely visited by the other residents.

They chose a secluded spot. After taking off their masks, they enjoyed their lunch.

Right now, Yuina was resting her head on Ryuu's lap as both of them watched the bright spring sky.

On Monday, Ryuu would enter the film crew. On Friday, he would leave for the global tour.

She had to fully used all the time she had with him.

"What are you smiling at?" Yuina looked at Ryuu who was focusing on his smartphone.

He had been grinning nonstop.

"Hehe, wife, look at this," Ryuu flipped the phone downward, letting his wife saw what he was intently looking at.

Yuina took the phone from Ryuu. Pleasant surprise flickered in her eyes.

Displayed vividly on the widescreen, it was a scene of a wedding, a garden wedding.

Yuina's nose felt soured.

"Don't you think it's beautiful?" Ryuu bent forward and dropped a kiss on her forehead, "I remember seeing you always looking at garden weddings."

Yuina was surprised once again. She didn't realize he would notice despite the small frequency of him being at home.

"Ryuu, have you told Yousuke?" Yuina asked back.

She was genuinely looking forward to their wedding even though they had been married for seven years. Yet, there would always be voices nagging at the back of her mind, harshly telling her to not keep her hopes up.

"Yousuke has known my plan long before," Ryuu talked about his manager of a decade, "He said he would deal with the news that would come out because of our wedding. He also said it's best if I revealed about our hidden marriage to the public instead of being done so by the paparazzi."

Because this was a major occurrence, no matter what Ryuu had to discuss it with Yousuke first. Even though Yousuke was worried about the public out-lash but he understood he couldn't stop Ryuu at this time.

Ishizaki Ryuu's name was unshakable in the entertainment industry. As long as his name wasn't dirtied by the likes of doing drugs or sex scandals, the news about his hidden marriage wouldn't do much to him.

Aside from the fans who loved him for his face, he had gained a massive amount of fans who loved him for his acting. The latter type of fans usually didn't care about who their favorite actor was in a relationship with as long as his love life wouldn't affect his performance.

"You don't have to worry so much. Hehe, Yousuke purposely sneaked inside my fan cafe and asked a question about marriage. Although the younger fans are unwilling, the mature ones said I'm already at the age of getting married. They hope I wouldn't stay single until I hit the 40s."

Ryuu lightly brushed Yuina's bangs over her forehead. His face was obscured by the shadows as the sun backlighting his head but Yuina could see he was smiling tenderly at her.

"So, why don't you announce it in a decade?" Yuina giggled at his words.

Ryuu cocked up an eyebrow, "I don't want to further surprise them with our grown-up child. If I revealed it ten years later, our child might have already been eight to nine years old, isn't it?"

Yuina blinked. She covered the lower half of her face with her hands that were holding his phone. She murmured, "A child?"

"Yes," Once again Ryuu kissed her forehead, "It's not much to have a child after revealing our marriage to them. The fans would think it's a normal occurrence."

"Oh... okay," Yuina darted her eyes away from him.

Ryuu hummed softly. He mistook his wife's action by acting shy.

"Tsk, what are you being shy about? We've been married for seven years. If I wasn't too busy with work, I believe we would already have a child or two by now."

He was so sure that he could work hard in that matter. Ryuu was so proud as if he had a tail wagging behind him.

"I'm not shy..." Yuina narrowed her eyes and harrumphed, concealing her guilt.

All this while, he thought they couldn't conceive because of the little time they had together.

Little did he know...

Yuina pursed her lips hard.

"Hehehe, even when you're shy, you're so pretty, wife~"

Ryuu laughed out loud. He playfully flicked on her forehead.

With their child, Ryuu would feel more at ease if he had to go out for the filming process. At least, Yuina wouldn't be left alone at home.

But.

He miscalculated his wife's desire.

While Ryuu was happily thinking of their future child, Yuina was immersed in her own thoughts.

Since he had already planned to reveal their hidden marriage, it was inevitable for a child to come next. The fans wouldn't have a hard time accepting it as it was a natural flow.

Yet, would he cut down his work for her and their child?

Yuina felt distressed. She didn't know how to talk about it with him even though her friend, Kanna had been reminding her about it countless times.

"...Ryuu."

"En?"

Yuina nervously fiddled with her fingers. Her expression incited laughter from Ryuu who found it funny.

"What's wrong?" He cupped her face and gently caressing her skin.

"I want... Ah, I have something to tell you," Yuina forced the words out of her mouth.

Ryuu felt weird.

Why did his wife look troubled?

"My love, is something bothering you? What's wrong?"

His tender voice and the gentle look in his eyes made Yuina wanted to burst into tears. All the deep emotions that she pushed down all this time were on the verge of surging forward.

"I just... I want to tell that..."

Yuina closed and opened her mouth a few times yet no other words came out from between her lips. She grew anxious as time passing by.

Ryuu frowned. He bent down and helped his wife to sit up. He placed one arm around her shoulders while the other gently stroking her head.

"Don't force yourself if it's hard," He whispered, "Take your time to tell me."

Yuina let out a soft 'En.' She felt both relieved and guilty when he said that.

If she confessed that... she took contraceptive pills without him knowing, would he be mad and disappointed?

And, she also wanted to discuss with him the matter of having a child.

Would it be possible for him to tone down his career after they have a child?

"Ryuu, I..."

Her words were cut off by a sudden ringing of a phone. Yuina narrowed her eyes as energy was drained from her body as her attempt to confess was interrupted.

"...It's my phone," Yuina lowered her head, turning away from Ryuu and took the phone.

Who would be calling at this time?

Her expression froze once she saw the Caller ID.

Why was it her...

"Yuina, what's wrong?"

Ryuu came closer. His wife's face changed as if she had seen something unpleasant.

Yuina didn't answer him. She silently showed the screen to Ryuu. The ringing continuously echoed around them, following along the fast beating of her heart once Yuina knew who was the one calling.

In an instant, Ryuu's face glowered in displeasure.

"Pick it up. Let's hear what she wants to say," He said through gritted teeth.

Although both of them didn't want to listen to whatever nonsense the woman would spout, they still had to be wary.

With a heavy heart, Yuina picked up the call and turned on the loudspeaker.

"Yuina! What took you so long? Listen... Help your brother, okay? He's in danger!"

A woman's shrilly voice exploded from the phone. Yuina moved the phone away from her. Creases of deep frown marred her forehead.

"What do you mean by he's in danger?" Yuina asked coldly.

"He fought with guys and now... Those scums ask for the hospitalization fee. Please! Help him, okay? If not... They would bring him to the police!"

"Are you sure you're not lying to me?" Yuina's tone hardened, "He won't need you to relay the news to me and I know my brother well. He won't get into a fight as you said! You just want my money!"

"Yuina! How could you say that? He's..."

Before the woman continued babbling, Ryuu grabbed the phone from Yuina and coldly spoke to the caller.

"Mrs. Okamoto, didn't I warn you to not contacting my wife again?"

The woman's gasp clearly sounded from the end of the line, "You... You... Why are you there?"

Ryuu sneered, "What? You think I'm not by my wife's side so that's why you brazenly called her? Remember about your husband. Do you want him to have a super 'good' time in prison?"

"What... what? This is not harassing! I'm her aunt! Yuina should..."

"Bye."

Ryuu ended the call. He placed the phone down and quickly looked at his wife.

Yuina's face was pale. She was absentmindedly staring at the row of potted plants in front of them.

He leaned forward, brought her into his embrace and gently stroked her head.

"My love, forget about them. They couldn't harm you anymore," Ryuu whispered next to her ear.

Yuina closed her eyes. She hugged him tight as if she wanted to blend herself into his body.

Both of them were quiet as the heavy atmosphere around them slowly dissipated.

After that, Yuina looked up and looked at Ryuu, "I don't care about her but... How about Hiro? I'm worried..."

She wouldn't give her aunt and her husband to harm her again but, she couldn't ignore if the only cousin who always supported her be in trouble.

"Don't worry. I'll look into it," Ryuu still tried to soothe his wife's feelings. He softened his voice, "Let's call Hiro and ask him, en?"

Yuina listlessly nodded her head. The thing that she wanted to talk to him went away as trouble came.

The chapters about the picnic date would come next! ;) Enjoy!
