Apotropaic of Danmachi

Mallory the unfortunate child born from a human among a tribe of leopard demihumans was bullied and shunned since young due to her being slightly weaker, being a bearer of bad luck and because she was an easy target. Even when she kept trying to overcome her trials and difficulties, she still ended up in a poor situation and that is when her previous life’s memories returned along with a skill which had been awakened. How will she survive in the Danmachi world? I do not claim to own Danmachi, its plot or characters but there are some changes I may make to the original story and add my own characters. Dangerous Talismans

Mallory watched on as the flames grew within her barrier walls and as the breathable air was reducing with a curious surprised face. "This really is very effective.. perhaps a little too effective."

The use of the talismans had been tested on their own but once arranged into some kind of formation, their range and effectiveness seemed to grow.

Several talismans linked up to each other around the edges first then linked up to the others on other parts of the formation to form something similar to a spell matrix or pointed star formation made from those elements or energy.

The barriers did not work the same way and linked up when more than one was used to form a series of walls that trapped those within but a lot of other talismans created different effects just like how the purification talismans created a purification circle.

One basic fire talisman may have been quite useful for basic tasks like starting a small fire but its usage was somewhat limited compared to the results produced by a more advanced talisman or a combination of talismans.

The air that was trapped within the talismans had become something that had sustained the flames within the barriers and helped them to continue to burn up anything inside.

Mallory had not used such a combination before so she did not expect the results to be so deadly.

Those trapped inside struggled to break out but had either suffocated or burned to death.

Small talismans with a fire mark were in the hand of Mallory as she looked at them. "Okay.. I will mark these as lethal last resorts."

She wished to test others like them but she did not have the opportunity to do so since most of her opponents that she had faced were not that she wanted to inflict harm upon.

So many talismans had been restricted from being used since they were the types that cause inflict injuries upon others and cause destruction.

Since the bandits had been recognised as hostile and dangerous to herself and those around her, Mallory had lessened those restraints a little and began to make use of the sealed away talismans.

The talismans had been tied to kunai and other small weapons that had been placed in different locations by Tia and Hiiro while Mallory handled the defence.

Hiiro and Tia were kept safe behind her so that they could retreat to a safer vantage point.

As they retreated with Mallory keeping them safe from the arrows, they were busy stabbing them into the ground or in the gaps of the terrain.

The placement of the talismans was done in a hurry but it was enough to be used tactically in a tighter space.

The magic was seen from further away which had caused many of the bandits to grow surprised.

"They have more than one mage?"

"They must have at least one powerful magician among them."

"Well… It does not matter. Their magic should not hold up for much longer."

They were under the belief that there was either one powerful magician or more than one among them.

They had identified one of them as Mallory who had raised the magic barriers to block their arrows but had not seen anyone else.

They may not have seen another magic caster use any magic spells but it was enough to let them guess that those who were casting them would have started to reach their limitations.

If Mallory had been casting them alone then it showed that she was very skilled as a magician but casting so many spells would take a large tole on her.

If there were two magicians then the spells used by both of them had already been large enough and that many to be able to reduce the amount of magic power they possessed.

All it took was to force them to continue to deplete their magic power so that the potential dangerous or protective magics would be removed as the mage experienced Mind Down.

Once the mage or mages were removed from the battle, the battle would turn back towards their favour again.

More arrows were taken out as they checked how much they had left then put one onto the strings of their bows.

The arrowheads were wrapped with some cloth that were placed near a campfire nearby and were fired towards the direction of Mallory but two figures had appeared from different directions.

Some of their gazes turned towards the cat girl with a pair of black ears and tail who had jumped out. "Hi-nya~"

She looked small and cute in appearance but the bloodied large sword and clothing had taken away that kind of appearance and atmosphere from her and made her look quite intimidating to the bandits.

Nia had been busy leaping around in places that covered up and hid her the best that she could manage to evade them while dealing with one or two people in her path.

She showed a cute smile and licked her lips while her eyes had a playful look in them as the large sword rested over her shoulder before disappearing from their sight again.

Where she had stood previously had been left with several arrows that had missed her body which wasted some of what had remained of the arrows they were carrying or had nearby.
