Evelyn

I'm so pathetic... it's been two days.

I've held myself up in my house for two days with no contact with the outside world. While I appreciate space that I asked for I am almost afraid to turn on my phone. I roll out of bed so I can shower and make myself presentable so I can start my day. I turn my phone on as I walk down down the stairs and set it on the counter and pour myself a large coffee.

Leaning against the counter I sip my coffee as I listen to the continuous buzz of my cell  as I drift off into my head. My ringer goes off and startles me out of my thoughts. I scramble to reach it and answer without looking.

"Hello?"

"Hey Ev you busy right now?" Reeses calm smooth voice comes over the phone. I sigh in relief that it was him and not someone else.

"Ev?" he said.

"Sorry i'm here. Just getting ready what's up?" putting the phone on speaker as I fill my travel mug of coffee.

"I wanted to see if you wanted to meet up at Carter's before we have to meet at the Clinic" He tried to sound nonchalant.

Turning my wrist over and see the time is only 6:30 and we have about a hour before we have to be at work.

"Sure i'll meet you there in 5?"

'Sounds good see you soon!" He said before I heard him click off.

As I pull into Carter's I see that Reese is already there. I walk in and see him the back corner in our usual booth.

"Morning!" sitting down across from him.

"Morning Ev, I already ordered for us I hope you don't mind." chuckling to himself 

"That's fine lol so what up?" leasing back against the seat.

"Jumping right into it huh... Okay I guess I want to know why? Why did you not tell me what happened? I understand not telling Jace but me..?" I could see the hurt in his eyes and I sighed.

"I was broken Reese. The boy I loved my entire life disappeared without a word or a goodbye after he fucked me the night before like a common whore." He winced at the tone in my voice.

"I felt betrayed and no one could understand what I was feeling or thinking.... How could I look everyone or even you in the eye after that. I just wanted to be numb."

Looking at me with sympathy which I hated.

"See this from my perspective Ev.. This whole time I thought you were just upset that he left. This whole time I have been trying to find a way for you to move past your anger and talk to him. Then I find out all this..." rubbing his hands over his face through his blond hair.

Sighing "I know and i'm sorry this what not the way you should have found out, I know I should have said something sooner but it never seemed like the right time. Eventually three years had gone by and this whole thing with Jace started up so I felt like it was time to just forget and move on."

Reaching across the table Reese grabbed my and and gave it a squeeze. Appreciating the gesture I smiled.

"I would have been there I hope you know. I would have found him and beat the shit out of him the moment I found out. I still might..." mischief and a fury behind his eyes.

"Maybe i'll take you up on that offer one day soon!" I stated with a chuckle to myself.

Finishing up we get up to walk out.. I realized he was still sitting down I turn my head as I continue walking to see what the hold up was, when I run into literal wall of muscle. All of my senses are on overdrive as I breath in cedar, rain and a hint of spice. My mouth waters as I take in the scent and my eyes drift slowly up until I reached the last pair of eyes I wanted to see right now... Fucking Tate.

"Ev..?" His deep voice reverberating throughout my body.

Snapping out of the scent spell he left me under I stepped back and I straighten my self as I moved around him and started walking out.

1 Evie 0 Tate: Check

I heard Reese chuckling as he too walked past Tate.

"You didn't think it would be that easy did you.. i'd stay far away from my brother and start practicing how to grovel. You have one hell of a fight infront of you." he called over his shoulder.

I smiled up at Reese when he reached me and we both walked out..
