“…You’ve lost me,” Scarlett said.
In and of itself, getting jobs wasn’t a bad idea. All of them could use the money; their families weren’t exactly rich.
However, with Velma and Gavin being eighteen and Scarlett being twenty-one, they hadn’t had many opportunities to work due to their age. Moreover, the jobs that Scarlett had wanted to take on were often forbidden by her father.
So, none of them had ever had more than a summer job or a short stint of manual labor in construction or the fields.
“You’re going to have to explain in a bit more detail,” Scarlett pressed. “How are jobs supposed to help with the whole mate situation I’ve got going on?”
Velma rolled her eyes. “That’s the whole point of it! We’re going to get jobs in the capital.”
“…Are you crazy?”
