On a rainy night, in a small province that is within human territory, in a small cottage in a remote village, a little boy has just been born.
However, the little Baby was special as he resembled his father in appearance a lot. With his pointy ears and silver eyes, you could tell he wasn't fully Human like his mother, but also an Elf.
But not just any Elf, but a Dark Elf, which could be recognized by a small dark Mark on his chest.
All Dark Elves bore the Mark of Amelon, also known as the Mark of the Necromancer. It is the Mark that characterize the traitors of the Elves who betrayed their former race and served as the forces of Amelon long ago.
If an Elf in today's time would see this Mark, he would not hesitate to slit the Dark Elf's throat open even though the Dark Elf in this case is only a newborn Baby and has not done anything remotely malicious or bad.
The Elves detest the Dark Elves and for the past few centuries have hunted them down and decimated all but the last of the Dark Elves and their descendants.
It is a true miracle that a Dark Elf can still be born in this small village today.
Well, the Baby is not only a Dark Elf, but also a Human like his mother.
Speaking of his mother, he got her black hair and handsome face. The Baby's mothers name is Nimera and she is known as a beauty in the small village were she currently lives.
However here in the village, everyone sees her only as a big sister. Only her husband, the stranger who arrived a few months ago, sees her as more and was able to win her heart. It never mattered to Nimera which race a being belonged to, whether it was a Human or a Demi Human, she only cared about the person and not the race.
Therefore, she quickly fell in love with the mysterious stranger who at first wanted nothing more than to leave the village again. However, one thing led to another and Nimera married the mysterious Dark Elf and they both fathered the Baby who is born today.
However, fate seems to have different plans for the Dark Elf, as he while his Child is born, has to fight against a Horde of Monsters which are attacking the village and are therefore threatening his family.
Attacks from beasts living in the surrounding forest are common here in the countryside, which is far from any city or wall. Of course, the village does not have any kind of guards or soldiers as well and must therefore fight completely on their own against the Horde of Beasts.
The Men of the village are therefore currently all involved in fights against the beasts almost every third night and sometimes have to give their lives to defend their loved ones against the hungry beasts.
When the Dark Elf has offered to help against the Beast Horde, the villagers didn't hesitate and accepted his request, because fortunately the mysterious stranger seems to be gifted with Magic and can therefore use Spells and Curses to help tremendously in the fight.
"Aunt, please tell me if Delemun is back, is the fight finally over?" asked Nimera who was holding her newborn Baby in her hand and looking at him lovingly.
"My little Nima, you have always been too worried, please calm down. You have just given birth and you are still weak and need to rest. The men will be fine, but what will your husband say when he comes back and you've been freaking out from all the stress." said an elderly woman who appears to be the midwife who helped giving birth to the newborn.
"Here have some tea my little one, I made it especially for you, it will make your milk more nutritious so your little boy can grow up fast." said the midwife as she gave Nimera a cup of tea.
"Sigh, all right." said Nimera as she accepted the cup and drank a few sips from it.
"Oh, before I forget, little Liona asked me to see the child. I promised her after she helped me so much taking care of the patients in the last few weeks, so please don't refuse her request." said the midwife afterwards, as she looked at Nimera.
"Little Liona? Why should I ever turn her away, with her round cheeks and beautiful green eyes I can't even resist to kiss her right away." said Nimera with a big smile.
"I thought so. Liona, you heard her, didn't you? So come out of the closet already and look at the Baby." said the midwife as she threw some bloody sheets in the trash.
Then some noises came out of the closet and afterwards a little girl with brunette hair and green eyes came out of the closet. She wore simple brown clothes and looked a bit scared at Nimera and then on the ground.
"Hahaha little Liona, don't you know, one shouldn't sneak into other people's rooms. Hmmm... if the Village Eldest knew that, what would he do with you?" Nimera wondered sarcastically.
"Wuaah, not the big bad olwd man again, he's awwfully mean, plewse don't, plewse don't tell the bad olwd man about this!" said little Liona with a pleading expression on her face.
"Haha, Liona my sweet, well I won't tell the Eldest anything about you, but you need to promise me that you won't hide in other people's rooms anymore, oh and don't call the Eldest a bad old man." said Nimera as she looked very very seriously at Liona.
"Ok Aunt Nimera, I'll newver hide from anyone evew again. Can I have the little one now... ah what's his name again?" asked Liona as she looked at the Baby in Nimera's arms.
"Every Baby gets its name at birth, just like you got yours five years ago, my little Liona. I and my husband decided on the name Amon beforehand if it would be a boy." said Nimera as she looked at Amon's face.
Amon, on the other hand, looked straight at his mother as he lay in her arms.
"He's such a good kid, he hasn't cried and the birth went smoothly, plus he's perfectly healthy. However, he should be hungry by now my little one, so give him something to eat." said the midwife suddenly as she came to one side of the bed and stretched her hands out.
Nimera just nodded and handed Amon into the hands of the midwife and then opened her blouse so that her breasts were exposed.
Then she took Amon back into her arms and fed him.
"So, babies really do drink their mother's milk, wow do all babies do that?" asked little Liona as she watched Amon eat.
"Yes, my little one, every child drinks their mother's milk, just like you got your mother's milk when you were little and that's exactly how you will feed your children in the future." said the midwife afterwards as she stroked little Liona's head.
The quiet atmosphere in the small hut was suddenly interrupted by a loud bang on the door.
A man with a long beard broke the door open, letting the heavy rain and wind blow into the room.
"A Dragon is attacking! Quick, we have to flee! Pack your things, we'll flee into the caves at the north!" the man screamed and ran to the next house before anyone could ask him any questions.
"What? Wait, what are you talking about? Wasn't it just a bunch of wolves and goblins attacking? Why are you suddenly talking about a Dragon?" asked Nimera in confusion and panic.
"Quick, we don't have time, just bring some warm clothes and blankets and something to eat, hurry!" said the midwife as she took some clothes and dressed Amon and Nimera with them.
Liona only nodded and then ran straight into the kitchen and got everything edible she could find there and ran outside.
Meanwhile, the midwife helped Nimera into her clothes and helped her outside into the rainy dark night together with Amon in her arms.
Currently, a thunderstorm of unnatural origin was raging outside and all the villagers could be seen running towards the mountains in panic. They had some supplies, food and clothes on their backs and ran with their loved ones in arms toward the mountains for shelter.
In the distance of the storm, on a hill far away, the beast of everyone's nightmares could be seen.
A huge Dark Dragon flying in the air over the hill, raining lightning on the ground.
The men on the ground were all unprepared for the behemoth and even if they were, they would have no chance of injuring or even killing this creature.
Arrows do not penetrate the body scales of a dragon, and swords cannot be used until the dragon comes to the ground. Even then only special swords which are only forged by Master Smiths are sharp enough to pierce dragon scales.
With no chance of defeating against the dragon, the villagers all ran away and took cover to avoid the monsters' attacks.
But the lightning bolts that the dragon shot were just too agile, they pursued their victims and sizzled them alive.
The smell of burnt flesh could be smelled even in the village, making the mood of the rest of the villagers even more desperate and worse.
The situation was hopeless and no one saw a chance to escape the inevitable end that the dragon will bring them.
Some wondered why they deserved such a cruel fate. The gods can't be so blind or evil that they don't realize that they don't deserve such a fate. Why aren't they doing anything against the Dragon then? Is really every hope gone?
But before despair could get the better of the people, the picture in the distance suddenly changed.
A man dressed in a dark robe over which he wore a special silver armor suddenly emerged from the burning forest.
While the others ran away from the battle, the man instead ran towards the Dragon. In one hand he held a short sword and in the other a purple light gathered in his hand.
Then, as the Dragon's lightning attacks hit the man, he used his hand and similar bright lightning bolts shot out of it, confronting the dragon's attack on the same level.
After that, while fending off one attack after another, the man ran towards a nearby tree and jumped up the branches while dodging the monster's attacks.
The Dragon, on the other hand, became more and more angry that a small ant dared to attack a superior dragon like him.
Fueled by anger, the Dragon's attacks intensified and the lightning bolts attacked everything in the vicinity.
The man now also struggled against the attacks, but before he could be hit by the dragon, he reached the top of the tree, which was his goal from the start, and then jumped high into the air from there.
The man jumped a few meters in the air and has just managed to grab the Dragon's foot and was able to stay in the air.
The Dragon apparently did not notice the new passenger it had at his foot and was convinced that in its attack it destroyed the man along with the tree.
Satisfied, he then flew towards the village where the villagers were and fled towards the mountains.
As the Dragon then took to the skies over the village, it opened its huge mouth, from which its thunderbolts shot out and attacked the villagers on the ground.
House after house was destroyed by the Dragon, and the weak villagers fell to the ground one by one.
Screams and cries for help could be heard everywhere, but who would come to the aid of the injured? Who should be able to heal their grave wounds now?
Only a Magician who possesses the rare Restoration Magic can be able to do this, but ordinary villagers can never afford such treatment and of course there was no one in the village who mastered this Magic.
In fact, there isn't even a single Magician in the village, since they are really rare found.
But before the Dragon could rain more destruction and death upon the village, it was suddenly attacked by the man who is upon it now.
The man not only held on to the Dragon's leg throughout the flight, but also moved up onto the Dragon's back.
There he withstood wind and rain and stayed for a few seconds.
In the next moment the man lifted his short sword in the air and out of the sky a large and bright Lightning fell on his sword.
In the next moment, the man rammed the sword into the dragon's body, while holding the sword and letting all his lightning flow into the Dragon.
"KRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!"
Screamed the Dragon in the next moment, and for the first time in its life, the Dragon felt fear. Fear of having underestimated his enemy and dying by him.
Therefore, even in its injured state, the Dragon could still gather enough strength and envelop its entire body in its violent lightning, which roasted everything on the Dragon's outer skin.
The man was not spared and also got hit by the strong lightning attacks of the Dragon and could hardly keep up with the Dragon.
Only after a full minute was the end of the fight sealed.
The Dragon fell down and crushed some houses and trees with its enormous weight, killing every villager beneath it.
On the dragon's back you could see the man who won the fight against the beast. But he didn't win the fight without making a sacrifice himself.
His body was shredded and burned by the lightning. He will die from his severe wounds if Magic cannot heal him.
With some effort, the man manages to get off the giant winged lizard and pulls his body away from the dragon's corpse.
Afterwards, a few villagers gathered around the Dragon, unable to believe their eyes.
The Dragon, the monster from their nightmares that threatened to destroy them a few seconds ago, was defeated by one of them.
They have only heard something like this in children's stories, but have never experienced it themselves.
"A miracle! A miracle I tell you! We were saved!" shouted one of the men suddenly.
"That man over there, he defeated the Dragon, I saw it with my own eyes!" shouted another.
"He's a Hero. A Hero, from our village!" shouted another.
"I know him! This is the stranger who married little Nimera. The Elf who can fight so well." said a woman looking at the man.
"What?" said Nimera, looking at her husband from inside the crowd of villagers. He was currently limping away from the dragon's corpse and didn't look to be in a good state.
"Honey... did I miss it?" said Delemun as he suddenly stood still in his half-shattered armor and took a few deep breaths.
"Delemun!" said Nimera as she ran towards her husband with Amon in her arms.
Delemun, on the other hand, who defeated the Dragon, fell to the ground and looked at the face of Nimera, his wife, who was looking down at him with tears in her eyes.
"No, no. It can't be, it can't end like this. Not when we've only just met." said Nimera as she cried and looked at her husband with tears in her eyes.
"My little Nimera, please don't look at me with such a sad face..." Delemun said as he wiped Nimera's tears from her eyes and then stroked her cheek.
"I always told you to be careful, you're just too hasty." she said afterwards as she looked at him.
"And I would do it again to protect you, my wife and my newborn child. I would gladly sacrifice myself for your both wellbeing, over and over again if I could." said Delemun afterwards.
"I'm sure we can still treat your wounds, everything will be fine, so don't talk about sacrifices. You're still alive and you have to stay alive! I need you! Amon needs his father!" said Nimera afterwards.
Delemun only responds to the statement by looking down at his wounds. He has already lost quite a lot of blood and his lifespan is nearing the end, which could clearly be seen from his pale and lifeless skin.
"My wife, please just listen to my last wish. Give this ring to our newborn boy when he reaches adulthood. My armor and sword shall also be his when I'm gone." Delemun said as he opened his other hand and gave a ring to his wife.
After that he looked at Amon who was sleeping peacefully in his mother's arms as if nothing dangerous existed in this world.
"I love you Nimera. My life until I met you was a constant curse. I don't want our boy to suffer the same fate. Therefore, I will watch over you and him even in death, don't worry..." said Delemun who spoke slower and slower overtime.
"I... love you..." were Delemun's last words as he died while looking at his wife and child.
"No! Delemun please don't leave us..." were the last words Delemun heard when he died and everything turned dark for him.
