Mutant

Basilius waited for the charging creature to come close and then decided to quickly duck to the side, going through the motions Basilius was relieved it seemed to be working but then something unexpected occurred as the creature suddenly kicked Basilius with its leg.

Ugghhh

All the air was taken out of Basilius's lungs as he let go of the metal rod and rolled for three meters on the ground feeling like a truck had hit him.

The creature, seeing its chance, quickly pounced on the fallen prey.

With it's sharp nails, acting like claws the creature attacked Basilius.

Just before the creature could scar his face Basilius managed to hold back the creature's hands that were trying to tear him apart as they landed in a desperate power struggle with the creature on top of Basilius.

Basilius was bound to lose this struggle as the immense weight along with huge chomping mouth that was getting closer and closer was spelling his doom.

Knowing his life was about to end Basilius's thoughts became erratic as he was overcome with a sense of dread and primal instincts making him begin to hyperventilating.

Because Basilius wasn't thinking straight anymore, he failed to notice the strange sensation happening inside his body, where the area under his armpits started to burn more and more, until eventually something happened that Basilius could have never imagined.

Suddenly Basilius saw blood squirt out of him and felt an excruciating amount of pain under the area of his armpits, two big bloody holes had erupted, Basilius having no idea how it happened or why quickly realised as two new sets of identical arms grew out from them.

All of this happened in less than 2 seconds.

Basilius, still desperately holding the creature back from biting him to death along with the excruciating pain, acted as if on instinct, and quickly got the two cooking knives from his pants with his new arms and stuck them in the eyes of the creature.

After it was stabbed it immediately stopped moving.

Basilius pushed the dead creature off his body as he quickly moved to the closest wall of the hallway and sat up straight as he began breathing sporadically looking at his new arms with bulging eyes.

Still not in the right head space Basilius began shaking his new arms hoping they would somehow disappear, however they just kept shaking following his commands, strangely enough the arms felt natural to his body as if it was a perfectly normal thing, freaking Basilius out even more.

After a couple of minutes Basilius finally began calming down and started to relax a bit.

"This is definitely because of the purple orb, first I thought I though it only made me a bit stronger but now, What is happening to me?"

"However if it weren't for this power I would have surely died just now so on the one hand it is pretty positive, it would also increase my chances of survival, it also seems that what I previously believed were monsters of some sort, were in fact humans"

Initially Basilius believed the creatures to be actual monsters, but now he realized that was a foolish theory as where would they actually come from and after seeing the Fat creature, Basilius remembered who it was, although he did not really know many people inside the apartment complex, he remembered the fat man because of his size, although the creature in front of him was even fatter and disfigured it still had the same facial features and clothes the fat man wore regularly.

As Basilius fully began to relax and think of other minuscule things he suddenly felt his new arms begin to burn a bit and then suddenly as fast as they had come out retract back into his body causing another round of excruciating pain, however after seeing that happen Basilius felt relieved and thought "That's pretty cool, and luckily I don't have to live my life as a freak".

Basilius, having rested for a bit now, decided to get up.

Trying to stand up Basilius groaned in pain, he definitely had a few broken ribs and some internal damage.

Slowly getting up Basilius walked with a great amount of effort to the two trash bags and carried them back to his room, once back at his room he put down the trash bags in a corner and laid on his bed while carefully eating a box of strawberries the battle had made him famished, Basilius took ten minutes to rest until.

"Dammit"

After Basilius killed the creature or what he now decided to cal mutants as he found out they were actually humans, his gut feeling acted up again telling him there was something very important in it's carcass.

Basilius however became annoyed as the last time he listened to his gut feeling and absorbed the purple orb he almost died, although he did gain powers from it as he had found out, which was also the reason why he became annoyed and knew he had to at least get the orb.

Basilius dragged his painful body back to the hallway although he didn't forget to bring a towel and small plastic bag with him and went to the corpse of the fat mutant, instead of physically touching the orb he would pick it up with the plastic bag which would hopefully keep the orb from suddenly dissipating again, while the towel would be used to clean his hands after.

Knowing that the mutant in front of Basilius used to be human made the thought of dissecting the corpse a bit more difficult morally speaking, however with everything he had been through Basilius decided to adapt.

However getting closer to the corpse it seemed to be unnecessary, standing one meter apart from it Basilius could feel his gut feeling flaring up more than previously, but could also somehow feel something else, an warm sensation or perhaps an energy of sorts beckoning to him.

Standing over the body Basilius traced where he could feel the energy, which again pointed to the creatures heart, confused Basilius didn't know what to think.

"Why does it seem like it is drawn to me?".

Sitting next to the mutant he decided to try and see if he could also reach out to the energy, he did not expect anything to happen and was only curious, Which turned out to be a massive mistake.

Having responded to the call Basilius instantly saw a purple mist stream out of the mutant, and before he could run away or curse it entered him again.

Thinking about how stupid he was Basilius began to grit his teeth as an familiar pain assaulted him.
