Wedding

Jasmine's pov

"What have I gotten myself into?" I muttered to myself after accepting to be Liam's bride.

He rejected me yesterday yet I accepted to marry him. I dressed myself in an elegant white long gown, my heart racing in anticipation.

A little touch of makeup to enhance my features in case there's no time for thorough preparation for the wedding. I waited impatiently for Liam to arrive.

My love for him remained strong despite the pain he caused me. I knew deep within that Rachel doesn't love him because she has once confessed her love for my brother, Alex.

Rachel and Alex had always been the close ones so I was surprised when I heard she was marrying Liam instead.

Even though he hurt me, I was ready to put myself and my feelings on the line to make Liam happy.

Calling off the wedding will put him in the spotlight, causing a scandal.

I should be happy, this was my chance to win his heart. This was the time to make him mine.

I sprang up from the couch when I heard the doorbell, my heart skipped a beat at the thought of seeing Liam's face again.

"Jasmine," he said my name and it was more like a gentle whisper that sent shivers into my spine.

He looked stressed with the dark circles around his eyes. His white shirt was wet with two buttons left unbuttoned, yet he still took my breath away.

" Thank you for accepting to do this, Jasmine. I promise to pay you any amount you desire," he said and I shot him a glance.

"I'm not doing this for your money, Liam. I'm doing this because I care about you," I uttered and he smiled softly.

"You are beautiful, Jasmine. We will talk about everything later. The guests are waiting," he said with haste.

His words warmed my heart. I wrapped my arms round him, offering a comforting embrace.

"We are in this together. I'm here for you," I whispered into his ear and he sighed.

"Thank you, Jasmine," he said and grabbed my arm gently. We hastened

our pace, our long strides leading us to the car.

As we entered , the driver sped away, speeding down the driveway. "We will use a mask at the wedding. No one will know it's you," he said, his eyes locked on mine and I felt better.

"Here, this is your mask," Liam handed me a white mask, it was shiny and beautiful.

He used a black one as we arrived at the wedding. The place was beautiful, decorated with flowers and golden balloons.

We alighted from the car and walk down the aisle.

Liam doesn't have parents neither does Rachel so it was a small celebration with friends and colleagues.

Everyone cheered as we walked hand in hand. My heart raced and my palms sweaty.

"I'm getting married!" I screamed inside my head. I can't believe this is happening.

Liam squeezed my hand gently and I gave him a smile.

"Do you accept her to be your lawful partner?" the anchor of the ceremony asked Liam.

"Yes, I do," he replied and everyone clapped with excitement.

He slipped a ring into my finger, it was a diamond ring that glows beautifully. It costs a fortune.

"Do you accept him to be your lawful partner?" He asked me.

"Yes, I do," I replied and there was noise this time. People were standing and cheering for us.

I bit my lip nervously. I was a bit sad, I really wish this wedding was real between Liam and I.

"I declare you both as husband and wife" the anchor said and Liam gave me a kiss on my forehead.

Music drifted softly in the background, the guests were dancing and eating. Everyone was busy with one thing or the other so I sneaked out of the event.

I was glad I avoided the press because I had nothing to say to them concerning the wedding.

I bit my lip and stared at the ring on my finger as I walked away from the event. My mind filled with a lot of questions.

Are we going to live together? How many months will this wedding last? How will I make him fall in love with me?

"There you are, Missy," a familiar tone pulled me out of my thoughts. I smiled when I saw Alex.

"Congratulations to you, sister," he said with a huge smile on his face. "Why are you congratulating me?" I asked with a pout.

"You are married to your dream man. You should thank me for that," he replied.

"Alex, this is not a real wedding. Liam doesn't love me," i uttered sadly.

Alex took my shoulder in a gentle grip and pressed his lip to forehead in a soft kiss.

"Everything happens for a reason, Jasmine. You are married to him now, the only thing you have to do is to make him fall for you," he advised.

" I will try my best," I nodded and he shook his head. "Don't try your best, do your best," he said.

The way Alex talked made me wonder if he knows anything about Rachel's sudden disappearance.

"Alex, do you know why Rachel left Liam?" I whispered and his mouth hung open in shock.

He shook his head and turned away from me. Alex's behavior seems suspicious which made me worry.

I just hope Alex doesn't have anything to do with all these. "Hey," Liam's voice broke into my thoughts as he said.

"You should be with your guests," I said and he shook his head with a scrowl on his face.

"They all left, we should talk about this wedding," he suggested instead and I nodded. His expression was daunting.

He was grumpy again "Let's go to my room upstairs," he said and I followed him behind closely.

When we entered the room, it was beautiful. It's a five star hotel room but everywhere was scattered with Liam's things.

"This marriage contract is just going to last for two months," he said and I raised a curious brow.

"Why the time limit? I'm happy to stay married to you as long as you need," I said, he shook his head.

"This marriage is just to avoid a scandal, Jasmine. I will find Rachel and bring her back," he said in a firm voice.

"Liam, do I look like a joke to you?" I asked him, my voice trembled with unshed tears.

"Why are you asking me that, Jasmine?" He asked softly and I sighed.

"Rachel left you and you want to go find her. What about me, Liam? I stood by you yet I mean nothing to you," I muttered admist tears.

"Jasmine, you mean a lot to me but I don't ...." he said but I interrupted him.

"Give me a damn reason why you don't like me. Let me know," I requested with tears in my eyes.

"I'm not in love with you!" He yelled at me and tears rolled down my cheeks feeling my chest tightened in pain.
