CHAPTER EIGHT (MEMMA AND NENMA)

"But still you are monsters. You kill the parents of these children instead of giving them a second chance." The priest opposed it.

"And those same parents kill their girls without giving them a second chance," Agu said in rage. Kadu saw that this time around, her anger was justified.

"Humans are impossible, you tell them the bitter truth of your life and yet they are still unmoved by it," Kadu said facing the priest.

"Not all humans are." King Bajju said, he looked at Agu and continued talking.

"The priest will leave. I will only allow the Izagi's to name my babies today and no one else."

King Bajju ordered the priest to be politely escorted out of his palace.

After all this, the people were beginning to have second thoughts. If King Bajju claims that he brought those flowers that gave them the powers they have today from these strange-looking people, then how can these same people be bad or not truly the Izagi?

Without anyone asking them to, they all went on their knees and bowed their heads before the spirit wisperers.

The naming ceremony was conducted by Kadu and she gave the kids Nenma and Memma. Immediately after the ceremony, the spirit whisperers were escorted personally by the king.

"Goodbye, dear king. Soon or maybe a little later, you will be welcomed by the spirit of your mother to the world beyond." Kadu reminded the king bringing tears to his eyes.

A king wasn't allowed to cry before his people but King Bajju wept bitterly before the Izagi. He said to the spirit whisperers with swollen eyes.

"I feel so terrible just thinking about it. That I will lose my life by the hands of my blood but still, I don't regret ever accepting this condition."

"I must admit, you are truly a great king. Brave, strong, and determined, you are all in one." Agu said praising the king for the first time. King Bajju felt good after receiving a compliment from Agu.

"Thank you Agu," Kadu said to her with a smile.

King Bajju got ready for the future by preparing for the present. As the little princesses kept growing up, King Bajju spent all his time taking care of them, training and teaching them how to use their powers.

As the Izagi had said, King Bajju noticed the difference in the princess's powers. Memma's powers were stronger than that of Nenma. He also noticed a difference in their habits, attitude, and characters as well.

Memma was a very beautiful and proud young girl who carried herself with such high esteem and she was also very intelligent. In her studies, she would tell her teachers the things they did not know, she was fast and smart.

Before her other sister could catch a rabbit, Memma was already catching dangerous animals like snakes and even a tiger.

Nenma was a soft girl, very beautiful and kind-hearted like her mother. Whenever their father, King Bajju would ask them to catch a rabbit Nenma would use her voice to hypnotize the rabbit and then put it to sleep before killing it whereas her sister would use her voice to kill it when her father would ask her why she did that, she would say.

"Just like how I can feel the pain of people who are hurt. I can also feel the pain of that rabbit."

King Bajju tried to change her but couldn't so he gave up.

When both the girls turned twenty-one, the king had to choose an heir to the throne and coronate her, this is what the customs and traditions required of him.

Even though the king already knew who would ascend the throne as the spirit wisperers had already hinted to him telling him that only the most powerful would become the king he still had to hold a competition for both the girls to participate and compete with each other.

The competition was organized and would commence in a week, exactly a week before their twenty-first birthdays.

The competition was a five obstacle course race including a dance battle. The courses were changed from the olden days to a new one because the people now had powers and even the princess's powers had to be tested to see who was fit to rule.

"I know you will win," Nenma said to her sister as they sat down in their chamber getting their hair done by four palace maids.

"Why will you say that when we haven't competed yet?" Memma asked smiling inwardly at how cowardly her sister was accepting defeat.

"Even Father knows this," Nenma replied and Memma looked at her as if surprised.

"He does?" She asked with a smile by the corner of her lips.

"But I don't care. When you win, you will have to shoulder all the responsibilities and I will happily get married to the love of my life, Ezinma." Nenma said pulling her hair and blushing at the thought of the crowned prince whose father is King Bajju's friend.

"You want to get married?" Memma asked her sister.

"Yes, why not? When you are gone, what will I be doing then? I will have to get married." Nenma replied.

"How silly. There is nothing greater than being a warrior and fighting in battle. Love and marriage are just stupid things." Memma said to her sister.

"Okay! But I still want to get married." Nenma said smiling.
