Power Test, Not for the Faint Hearted

For everyone else in school today was just a normal Tuesday, but the statement that Roughouser proposed was on Rex's mind all day.

He didn't eat a bite of lunch, he didn't pay attention to any of his classes, he barely even talked to his friends or his girlfriend, he was more scared of this damn test than he was fighting a literal villain, it infested his mind, these thoughts clouded his brain until, the time actually came.

"Alright class, time for the power test! Everyone change into their gym clothes and follow me to the training grounds!" Roughouser announced leaving the classroom.

Rex, now in the male locker room, is taking his shirt off and getting ready to change into his gym clothes, a huge frown on his face that was killing the vibe.

"Why the long face?" M1cheal said walking towards him.

"You heard what teach said didn't you? No way I can win, especially since my power is, how can I say this, worse than the rest of yours" Rex said looking down.

Orion gave a annoyed side eye, how, how could Rex say that, the person he was chasing to beat thinks he's inferior, there's mo way.

"Guys! We shouldn't be down in the dumps! Think positive T-Rex! If you give it your all you won't get expelled!" Jake exclaimed.

"Jake is right, remember, when it comes to powers like yours, the sky's the limit Rex!" M1cheal said from his speaker, motivating Rex.

"Honestly I wouldn't want anyone here to get expelled, you guys seem cool" Owen says nonchalantly and getting a Granola bar.

D-Jay and Owen were on the other side of the room, not really saying anything.

"T-Thanks guys" Rex said standing up.

He walks towards the door, full dressed in the Red and Blue Tracksuit that the school distributes.

Rex opens the door and all the boys leave one by one out the locker room door.

The seven boys meet up with the three girls, Angela, Yui and Sabrina.

Yui immediately runs up to Rex and talk with each other.

"Rex, I-I don't want you to get expelled" Yui said walking through the hallway.

"Yeah, me neither, not when I'm starting to finally figure myself out, making friends, I don't want to think about it" Rex said looking up.

"It's not only that, Rex, you're the only person that I can trust, that's treated me as a equal throughout my life, that's listened to me, I don't want you to go!" Yui says tearing up.

Rex looks at her sadness and places his hand on her head and smiles.

"Yui, if that's how you really feel, I'll make sure I'm not going anywhere" Rex said with his full confidence.

Yui hugs him as the rest of the class walks past the two.

"Okay lovebirds, we got a test to do, how about you focus alright?" Sabrina yelled at the two.

"Yeah your right let's go Yui!" Rex said grabbing Yui's arm and running to catch up with everyone else.

The class finally arrived to the training ground, it was a outside area with a track, open field, a weight room, and other things for training.

"Alright everyone, this is a test to see what everyone can do with a series of tests, so mo reason to hold back, I need all the data I can!" Roughouser said smiling.

"Alright we're gonna start with the 50 Meter dash! We'll go in pairs of two! First up is Orion and Rex!" Roughouser Exclaimed.

Rex and Orion got in a track stance and immediately started talking.

"There's no way you can win this Rex, mobility with your power is one of your worst attributes" Orion Whispered.

"Maybe you could be right, but there's no way I'm gonna lose to you" Rex said back.

"When it comes to your power, the sky's the limit" Rex remembered M1cheal say as he focused all the water in the area, not to his hands or arms, but his feet.

"Ready! Go!" Roughouser said shooting a gun in the air.

Orion lightened himself, removing the gravity in the air around him and started running swiftly.

Orion looked behind him.

"As I thought he's still at the starting li-"

Rex zoomed past Orion before that thought even fully processed.

Rex focused the water in the air fully into his feet and uses the water and surfes on the ground like skates using the water, propelling himself extremely fast and passing by Orion, winning the race.

"6.37 Seconds!" The Speed Calculator said.

Orion passes by a little later his anger clouting his judgment.

"7.12 Seconds!" The Speed Calculator said.

"Impressive, he finally learned some new techniques, his creativity is going up" Roughouser said smiling.

Rex looked back and smiles.

"Looks like I won!" Rex says to Orion.

"Rex that was amazing! When could you do that!" Sabrina said running up to him.

"I don't know, I guess what M1cheal said was right, whatever I put my mind to, I can manifest it into a attack or technique" Rex said getting up and explaining.

"Well duh Rex! Most people with the power to manifest something, like my shadows for example, can morph it into whatever as long as the given item is in the radius, you're lucky to be blessed with water, that shit is everywhere" Sabrina said closing her eyes and explaining.

"Uh I guess" Rex said (he wasn't listening).

Orion looked at the two with anger, he was still under Rex even after his training, the words of his father circle around his head as he loses a bit of his sanity.

The next pair was Angela vs Owen, Angela used her ice to slide across the track and got there in Four seconds, faster than Rex's time by a large margin.

Owen got to the finish line in about 8 seconds due to his power not being good for mobility and also he isn't very athletic.

Angela didn't say anything as she went back on the sideline.

Rex walked up to her as he smiled.

"Your power mastery is awesome! You must've trained it for a long time" Rex says starting a conversation.

Angela nods and walks away trembling.

"I guess she's the silent type" Rex said confused.

Owen walks up to Rex breathing heavy

"How… Do… You guys do this" Owen says putting his hands on his knees.

"I mean your power isn't the one for moving around quickly I guess, also you don't really train your body" Rex said bluntly.

"WHAT ARE YOU CALLING ME FAT!" Owen said creating a giant fist at Rex.

"Hold on that's NOT what I said!" Rex said running away.

Next was D-Jay and Harrison, I guess they might've been telepathic cause D-Jay used his tempo to fly at incredible speeds to the finish line, while Harrison flew in the air by propelling himself with his fire, both of them got to the finish line in three seconds flat.

"Aw come on Roughouser that's not fair they didn't even touch the ground!" Rex said yelling.

"Come on man, everyone used their ability, I thought I could use mine" D-Jay said speaking for the first time in a heavy accent.

"He's right, it doesn't matter if we didn't touch the ground, power usage has been legal for everyone" Harrison adds.

"Yeah whatever" Rex said looking to the side frowning.

Next up was Yui and Sabrina and they lined up.

"Good luck Yui! You too Sabrina!" Rex yelled at the two.

Yui smiled and looked ahead determined.

"I haven't seen her this determined before? What the hell?" Sabrina thought to herself.

Roughouser shot the gun and the two were off, Sabrina used her shadow as a board and rode her way to the finish line.

Yui took a deep breath while running and turned around and released a huge scream creating a shockwave and propelling her to the end. 5.75 Seconds was Yui's time and Sabrina's was 6 seconds flat.

"Yui that was awesome!" Rex said hugging her as she blushed and fainted.

"I lost but even I can say that was creative" Sabrina said putting her hand on her head and smiling.

Last but not least was M1cheal and Jake, they lined up and as soon as the gun shot, Jake disappeared and the speed machine fucking exploded.

Jake was so fast the machine couldn't calculate it and as he ran, he went to Japan to get JJK chapters, went to Africa and got Fufu and came back.

"Sorry guys! Looks like I went overboard!" Jake said excited.

M1cheal took a separate test using a regular stopwatch, using his rockets on his feet, he made it to the finish line in 3.5 Seconds.

Well everyone was done with the speed test, Roughouser lead them into a room with a punching machine, a lot of them, just in case.

"Alright kids, these machines will accurately measure your striking power of a 1-1000 Scale, these things are durable so powers are allowed, go nuts!" Roughouser said walking to the side.

First was Owen and he walked up to the machine in a huff.

"Time for me to let out some steam from that speed test" He said smiling.

"Everyone! Stand back!" Owen said expanding his fist larger, and larger, and even bigger!

Everyone scattered and gave him some space.

"Continental Crush!" He yelled bringing the giant fist to the machine, as a result the machine gets sent flying out the room and creates a giant hole in the wall.

The machine read "1000" a perfect score.

Owen walked back to the room as he stood nonchalantly.

"He seriously had that much power!?" everyone in the room thought.

Using the other machine, Orion was next and he gathered the gravity and put it into his hand.

"Gravity Push!" He said propelling the gravity into the machine creating a huge force.

The Machine read "896"

Orion smiled knowing that Rex couldn't get a higher score than that.

Angela looked at the machine and created a ice pillar and smashed the target with her full force, "797" is what the machine read as she gave a blank stare.

D-Jay used his already good physique and his tempo power to score a 805.

Harrison put a ball of fire in his hand and made a small explosion on the machine getting a 795, which he really didn't like.

Jake was next and he was super excited to do this, he got pretty creative with his power and with his speed, he ran in a circle creating momentum then with his full strength, punched the machine earning a 799.

"Alright Hybrids for the win!" He yelled.

Sabrina walked up and made a giant shadow fist smashing the machine with full force, earning her a 805.

"Good luck Rex" She whispered back as she sat down.

Rex wasn't next but he was a little anxious about this.

Yui walked up to the machine and yelled out her strongest blast getting a 780, the lowest so far but she was proud of it.

"Alright Rex, do your best!" Yui said grabbing his hands and smiling as she walked backs.

So many eyes were on Rex as he walked up, Rex took a look at his hand, pondering about what attack he should use.

"Damn it, a water gun would be strong enough to compete with everyone here, neither would a jet punch with my weak body" Rex said closing his eyes nervous.

Rex put his hand down and gave up, he didn't know what d-

POW!

A punch landed directly on Rex's cheekbone as he flew to the wall.

"REX!" Yui saying about to run to him but Roughouser stops her quickly as he smiled.

It was Orion, his eyes mad as he watched the motionless Rex's blood stream from his face.

"IS THIS REALLY GONNA BE IT REX!?" Orion yelled as he asked.

"I've watched you get stronger, I've watched you control you power this entire time, even beating me in that race, is that is really gonna be the end of your story, getting expelled!? HUH!?" Orion screamed.

The room was dead silent as everyone watched what Orion did.

A chuckle came from the floor, then it turned into a all out laugh.

"Man Orion you're hilarious, now I remember how we became friends in the first place" Rex said getting up whipping the blood off his face.

Roughouser chuckled and looked at Rex, "Well kid, show us what you got!" Roughouser exclaimed.

Rex took a deep breath and focused on the machine with a deep stare as he focused on the water molecules in the air, focusing it into his entire arm.

The class watched as his entire arm coated in water and released his strongest attack once again.

The water formed into a spiral and Rex thrusted his arm with all his strength.

"WATER DRILL!" He yelled as the spiral crashed into the machine and drilled into it, it had really good burst power but as it went on it got weaker and weaker.

"REX! MAINTAIN! MAINTAIN! KEEP IT UP UNTIL THE VERY END!" Roughouser yelled.

Rex let out a scream, the spiral cutting his arm due to overuse, but he pushes as much as he can and by putting all his power into it, maintained the same power from the start of the attack as he sent the machine flying.

The machine read, 908, Rex got a amazing score as he fell to his knees.

After the nurse was summoned and patched up Rex with arm bandages, the kid's lined up to see their rankings.

"Alright class, after some thinking, here are the rankings of the class, from destructive power, power mastery, speed and more, make sure to find where you are!" Roughouser said.

"WHAAAAAAA!?" Owen Yelled as he fell to the ground in defeat.

"Sorry Owen but your athleticism is what's hurting you, train and get stronger! This is what youre here for, if you get better the rankings will change" Roughouser said.

"Number One? Guess I'll try my best to maintain it" Orion said with his eyes closed.

Sabrina looked at Rex, seeing if he was disappointed.

"Honestly I'm okay with this, as long as I'm not last and get expelled" Rex shrugged.

Harrison looked as Rex shrugging as he frowned.

"Does nobody in this class understand that rankings don't matter? Afterall, Rex beat me and he's supposedly number 8…" Harrison said to himself.

"Alright Class since we're all done and we still have like, thirty minutes til school ends, pizza on me!" Roughouser said calling the delivery guy to the school as everyone cheered.

It seemed that today was good day for pretty much everyone, as the sun was setting on a warm afternoon.

Although, this day wasn't perfect as someone was waiting in the shadows.

The faceless man from the hospital made a army of transmuted humans, all similar to the Green Guy from before, as he watched all of them obey all his commands without fail, his mouth opened and gave a smirk.

"Okay my creations, our first line of action for my brand new world, eliminate ALL the up and coming heroes, DESTROY SUPERHUMAN TECH!" He said as they all flew out.
