Call of Duty

Inside a private golden spaceship orbiting the planet which would became the battlegroup of the second phase of the tournament, John Golden Fang observed through his wall monitor the changes happening bellow by multiple satellites circling around the planet.

"Boring! I thought terraforming was supposed to be something cooler then this! Last time I was too busy so I didn't have time to see it for the first planet, but it seems like I didn't miss anything. All I can see is rain clouds everywhere! This is no fun!"

"Please have patience, Young Master. The third phase should begin pretty soon."

"Don't be vague! Tell me the numbers!"

"The sower ships are entering the atmosphere right now, so it should begin in less than 10 minutes."

"So slow! Can't they do it faster?"

"T-That's impossible, Young Master. We are already using the fastest ships there are."

"Then pass another trillion to the engines department. I want a new faster engine ready by the time the next phase begin!"

(That's in what? Two months!? Does he think money can buy miracles!? I pity the scientists who will lose their job because of this...)

"Y-yes, Young Master! I will do so right away!"

G.F. grabbed a cup and slowly savored the taste of the drink.

"Hmm... Good. It seems like their are finally starting!"

Just like he observed, on one of the monitors, a bunch of vegetation started sprouting, growing at a surprising speed, painting the face of the planet in different shades of green, brown, yellow and red.

"Heh... This time it seems way better than the first one. There are more variations."

"Yes, Young Master. One of the improvements in the flora was the extension of the catalog of native plants. This change was necessary because the new planned neutral servants have different diets and needs."

"Remind me of the list of animals that will be added here. It's been so long that I already forgot."

"Young Master, there are too many for me to list them all. It would take all day! There are 150 different kinds of salt water fishes of different sizes, 30 kinds of fresh water fishes to populate rivers and lakes, 100 kinds of birds, 30 kinds of mammals, 60 kinds of reptiles, including 40 models based on ancient dinosaurs."

"That's not what I asked! I didn't ask for numbers, I asked for names! Which animals will be included that I have to take notice?"

"There will be panthers and other big felines, as well as many wolf variants. There are also horses variants, monkey variants, eagle variants, shark variants...last but not least, there are 9 kinds of carnivore dinosaurs of different sizes. Because their instinct are quite strong, be extreme careful when dealing with them and expect them to attack you at any moment."

"I see. That's good enough. Then, compared to the first planet, how much better is this one?"

"It's incomparable, Young Master! If we are talking about birds, there are only 15 types in the first planet. As for fishes, 20, divided half in half between salt and fresh water. The only mammals we have are boars and there are a few reptiles but no dinosaur. Because of this low variety, the ecosystems are quite fixed and some servants are able to reproduce wildly, which could pose huge problems in the future if no measures are taken."

"So that's why creating a base there felt so plain. Well, that's fine, it was just tutorial anyway."

Only a few minutes had passed since the seeds had been sowed but by now there were forests and grass plains spread all over the planet. It was truly like a miracle that not even nature could replicate and suddenly, as aggressive as the plants continued to expand to all sides, it all come to a full stop as if time itself had returned to it's normal speed.

"Young Master, the sowing phase has been complete, and now all that is left is for the arks to do their jobs."

"I can see that. No need to explain. I can see it with my own eyes."

Gigantic ships started to slowly approach the planet's atmosphere, but instead of entering it, they simply started dropping pods after pods.

(No matter how many times I see this, It feels so wasteful...)

The pods descended into the planet, searching for a good landing zone and delivered the animals safely to their new home, by dismantling themselves after finishing landing. The ones carrying fishes landed on the ocean or inside rivers and lakes, while the ones carrying everything else was completely random, varying from places inside the forest, to the middle of the desert or the mountain tops.

The animals that were delivered were not simple animals but servants in beast form. This was because servants had various advantages over normal animals: from superior intelligence to high degree of control and let's not mention about the possibility to be mass produced which was extensively used here so that they could supply enough units to fill the whole planet. As for the price, for small servants they could be considered expensive when compared to their natural animal counterpart, but for big ones, they were considerably cheaper, balancing the expenses in the end of the day, not that it was actually needed as money was never something G.F. lacked.

"Hoho! Are those the dinosaurs!?"

"Yes, sir. The big one was base on T-rex, as for the smaller ones they are velociraptor variants."

"Nice! Remember to present this technology to the museum. I bet those guys will go crazy for this. If they are willing to give us the DNA samples, we can fulfil their needs."

"As you wish!"

"I wonder what dinosaur steak tastes like..."

"People say it tastes like chicken."

"How can they know if they have never eaten?"

"Imagination?"

"My ass! Stop wasting time and capture one to make my meal!"

"But sir-"

"Stop nagging and do it!"

"Understood..."

Light years distance from there, on the space station orbiting the first planet, March was suddenly awaken by a call on his communicator.

"March, you got a new job to do."

"Damn! I'm going... What did the players do this time?"

"No, no, no, no. You misunderstood. This time the job comes directly from the big boss!"

"What!? I'm having a bad feeling about this! What does he want!?"

"He asked for best hunter we had available."

"Hunter? I'm no hunter!"

"But you have received training. It's in your personal file!"

"That's just to raise my salary!"

"And now you got to pay the price. Anyway, you are the only option so the job was thrown at you."

"You still didn't say what he wants!"

"You won't believe it."

"Try me!"

"Hunt a Dinosaur..."

"..."

"..."

"..."

"Can I call it quits?"

"Unfortunately it's too late."

"Damn!"

"The transport will be arriving in 8 minutes. Make sure to prepare yourself."
