Night Walk

Long Ying smiled at Yu Yan's reply. Of course, they had long cleared their first impression' little misunderstanding right on the next day from their first meeting. However, he still could remember what he was saying clearly because he quite regretted what he said back then.

"Your food is here." The employee had watched the two of them from far and felt that this couple was actually quite sweet. She had a lot to say about the man's fashion but she knew better than to meddle in other people's business.

"Let's dig in."

"Okay~!"

Looking at how Yu Yan enjoyed the food, Long Ying felt his appetite also increased. The two of them soon finished the large size hotpot cleanly. Not even the soup was left.

"It's really good." Yu Yan grinned in delight.

"Let's go back home."

"Ah right, how about An Lin?"

"He can return back with the car. We'll walk home."

Walk?

Yu Yan was stunned speechless. Didn't they take some time when they come to the office from Long Ying…no, their house back then? If they walked, wouldn't it take such a long time?

"There's a shortcut." Long Ying looked amused when he saw her expression. "Don't worry, the path will be circular so that we'll avoid the main road."

"Alright." Even though Yu Yan disliked walking because of the high pollution in cities, she still accepted what Long Ying proposed. Besides, she did need to walk a bit since she had just eaten.

She felt warmth on her hand and sensed Long Ying had grabbed her hand. He then guided her into the alleyway then turned in the intersection. There was barely anyone there, which was surprising for Yu Yan, but she simply followed Long Ying quietly.

The silence felt nice too.

In the darkness, there were two people who were frantically directing people to clear path for these two.

"Which way Boss will pick?'

"Just clear all of them!" Lan Huo signaled that there was a drunk man who wanted to come at the side.

"I'll deal with him."

"Hurry, Boss will come here."

"Akh, I need more time!"

"Hey, hey, help me over here too!"

Long Ying naturally knew that his men had already cleared up the route to avoid them meeting with stranger in this way. However, he said nothing and continued to guide Yu Yan to head back to their home.

There were no one around them thanks to those two and Long Ying himself purposely picked the empty area.

"It's like a maze."

"There's a map if you want to see."

Yu Yan looked at Long Ying then tilted her head. "Do you memorize the route, Long Ying?"

"I did. It's important to know the escape route in case you need it during emergency."

Emergency?

She couldn't ponder for a long time because they had already walked out of the alleyway.

Yu Yan waited for the cars to pass. She felt safe when she was holding Long Ying's hand. Even though it was a strange feeling, she knew that she simply trusted him that he would protect her and not let harm befall her.
