I used "Appraisal" on him…

[ Gerhund (Goblin Lord)

 Level: 20

 Str: 120

 Agi: 85

 End: 105

 Int: 50

 Wis: 30

 Dex: 80

 Cha: 10 ]

'So the creature even has a name huh..Gerhund. Now that I think about it, I have not chosen a name for myself yet. Well all that will come later, first I have to focus on it now.'

' His Strength and Endurance are far better than mine, coupled with his massive frame it will be a tough battle but I can win if I play all my cards properly.'

(He is parallel thinking here. Suggest me how to represent them in the comments.)

Without a word,I dashed towards him, my feet enveloped by bright light as I used "Flash steps" but before I could reach him, he noticed me. Clearly his perception was higher than I expected but things rarely go completely according to plan.

With no choice but to adapt as the situation developed, I ducked an incoming slash. The monster didn't stop and slashed again with his sword which I narrowly dodged but I had failed to account for his strength as I was hit by some rubble caused by its slash.

Fortunately my passive shield flared, protecting me from most of the damage.

Clearly he was taking advantage of his strength and while my speed was more than his, I was still lacking compared to him. Deciding to use another angle. I sped towards him again but in a different pattern this time.

As I had expected he still predicted my location just like last time. This confirmed my previous thoughts of his high perception but I had a counter this time.

I activated the "Parallel Thinking" skill and diverted part of my mind to predict his attack while the other part focused on my attack.

He slashed downwards swinging his sword hard as I activated "Flash Steps" followed by "Float" and leaped upwards. He couldn't react as the momentum of his swing was too much. Not missing the opportunity, I took out my "Vampiric Dagger" and slashed missing his neck by a few short inches.

But the dagger's special trait kicked in and the Goblin was struck with bleeding status. It would randomly drain 1% to 3% of the foe's blood and depending on the species, the opponent would die in a certain number of attacks unless he had some regenerative powers capable of replenishing the lost volume of blood.

Seeing the threat to his life, the monster charged and I felt a pressure emanating from him. Before I could even react to it, he grabbed me with his free and threw me away at breakneck speed.

I crashed against the dungeon wall. I heard a crack sound from my chest. This would have been fatal were I human and I would have coughed blood by now.

But fortunately or unfortunately I was not human anymore and looking at the monster approaching me I realised that to defeat a monster, I must become a monster too..

The monster was nearing me with its loud shout and I quickly got up and let out a war cry of my own, I lunged towards it dagger in tow.

Employing my last resort plan, I hastily bought ten lightning daggers with my points.

I inflicted a blind status on him using Dark magic which sent him into a confused and raged state as he started swinging his sword all around stirring up rubble.

I rushed towards him and used "flash steps" simultaneously with "float" and ran atop large pieces of debri. Summoning all ten lightning daggers, I launched them all in his directions like throwing knives.

And as expected he was paralyzed by the dagger's lightning. I had bought ten of them as I wasn't sure if I would be lucky enough to trigger the effect.

Having got an opportunity to strike again, I didn't hesitate to attack and struck his head and continued my onslaught on other vital parts. He was essentially crippled now and the outcome of the battle was getting clear but I didn't lose caution and kept my onslaught ongoing repeatedly even as he roared in pain and swung around madly.

"Parallel thinking" allowed me to dodge and attack him at the same time and I kept going until I finally spotted an opening. I lunged towards his neck and buried my dagger deep in his neck.

He wailed in pain and suddenly swept me away with his giant arms. He let out his dying breath before collapsing but I had nearly lost half my health in that last attack

" Mission passed. Rewards gained 1,000,000 exp. 5 rare skill cards gained. 5 rare equipment cards gained. Second level of the beginner dungeon is unlocked."

"Hmm...those are some good rewards. Um...System, show me the skills I can buy now." I asked.

"If possible give preference to any skills that can help me recover my health. After that, show me any offense oriented skills with either darkness or fire element in it.

The system opened up a window and listed down the available skills.

[Shop  Skills:

Corpse absorption(Upgradable): Able to absorb the corpse of the enemy slain, gain 5% Str, Agi, End, Dex stats of the enemy, and replenish health.

Dark Fire(Upgradable): a fire with traces of the darkness element, does more curse damage.

Dead Man's Pyre(Upgradable): a fire fueled by the regrets of the dead.Targets get cursed randomly and they get burn damage from the fire. Deals more damage against the living.

Pyro(Upgradable): a versatile skill that gives you the ability to manipulate fire at will. The user takes 25% less damage from any fire attack.

Hollow Body(Upgradable): increases precision, agility, and dexterity by 20% at the loss of 5% of strength and endurance.

Death Eater(Upgradable): temporarily adds 10% of a slain enemy's random stats during battle. Limit 200% of User's power.

Gaze of Death(Upgradable): A "deadly" gaze that strikes fear in the heart of enemies. The target will have to pass fear check three times and if it fails to pass it, fear status will be inflicted. Stronger the target, lesser the duration of the fear. Useful against weaker enemies and there is a chance they lose the will to fight.

After browsing through the skills, I finally decided to buy "Corpse absorption" , "Dead Man's Pyre", "Hollow Body", "Death Eater" and finally "Gaze of Death."

I used all my skill cards but I felt it was worth it.

"System, show me equipment now."

[ding..Skills bought. Showing Equipment..

Gauntlets of Atlas: Offensive equipment that gives the user buff in strength.

These are the best and recommended equipment according to the user's skill and expertise. ]

" That's Good. Purchase all of them and sell all of my existing ones." I order as I can't be too stingy with my points. I kept a small amount for emergencies but I used most of it.

A warm light washed over my body as I equipped all the new gear and an influx of information entered my mind. It was a bit disorienting but I managed to understand the usage of all my new skills.

I activated "Corpse Absorption" on Gerhund's body and watched as it quickly turned into dust. I could feel myself get stronger as my skill increased to level 3 in one go after absorbing the high level body.

My stats also underwent a huge change as I was level 19 now and almost 20 after the generous exp reward. Just a million more and I will be able to evolve again but bosses are not easy to find and I will have to grind slowly.

I spent some time getting used to my new strength as the sudden increase was difficult to master. I tried out my skills to get a hang of them and after resting for a while I got ready for the next level of the dungeon.

Turning on my mini-map, I started walking towards the six foot door that led to the next level of the dungeon.

There was a blinding light as I passed through it and I felt my body float and when my vision returned, I found myself in a lush green forest with tall trees.

It didn't look like the dungeon at all, I asked the system about it and it informed me that I was indeed not in the dungeon but in the waiting room as the next floor was being prepared..

I was a bit disappointed at not being able to grind goblins anymore as I had gotten used to them and they were easy to kill but I was hyped, anticipating what type of creature I got to fight next.

Maybe I might even get a chance to evolve here. Evolution brought about a huge increase in strength which would reduce life-death situations like last time.

If I evolve into a Lord Class monster, I would be near unstoppable.

After half an hour passed, the dungeon was ready and this time I was too…
