Chapter 6: New World (3)

Returning to the present, Yuki's sense of normalcy was abruptly shattered as a wave of discomfort rippled through his body. The morning sunlight streaming through the window seemed harsh and unforgiving, as if mocking his sudden agony.

As he sat down for breakfast with his family, a sharp pang coursed through his being, stealing his appetite and filling him with a sense of unease. The pain gnawed at him relentlessly, leaving him bewildered and vulnerable.

As he attempted to savor the flavors of his meal, a sudden onslaught of agony assailed his senses, seizing his attention with a vice-like grip. The sensation was alien, its origin shrouded in mystery.

"Ah! Painful!" Yuki exclaimed, his voice laced with both surprise and distress. The mounting anguish rendered his appetite obsolete, leaving his half-finished breakfast untouched.

Seeking solace and answers, he turned to his mother, desperation etched in his eyes. "Mom, what's happening? Something hurts," he voiced his concerns, hoping for a glimmer of understanding amidst the whirlwind of uncertainty that had befallen him.

A sudden surge of energy crackled through his small frame. The air around him seemed to shimmer with an otherworldly brilliance as luminous sparks danced and arced across his skin. The radiant light emitted from his body, casting an ethereal glow that bathed the surroundings in an otherworldly hue.

The startling display of power left Ayumi bewildered and apprehensive. Her voice trembled with concern as she turned to her mother-in-law, Mayuri, seeking solace and understanding. "Mayuri, what's happening with my son?" she implored, her worry palpable in her voice.

Mayuri, who had witnessed similar occurrences in the past, maintained her composure and reassured Ayumi with a calm yet knowing expression.

"Calm down, Ayumi. He is awakening another quirk," she explained, her voice filled with a sense of familiarity. "It's not that strange for our family. Look at me, I, too, possess multiple quirks. However, I recommend taking him outside immediately. It's best to be cautious, as his quirk might unintentionally cause structural damage to the building."

Ayumi's instincts kicked in as she absorbed Mayuri's words. Without a moment's hesitation, she sprang up from her seat, her motherly instincts overriding any fear or confusion. Cradling her son tenderly in her arms, she swiftly made her way outside, away from the confines of the building that could not contain the surging might of Yuki's awakening.

As Ayumi rushed outside, panic and worry gripping her heart, her husband Shinji Takehara could sense her distress. The weight of the situation bore down on him, threatening to crush his spirit. He clenched his fists, frustration and fear intertwining in his mind. "Oh no, not again, why must he awaken a second Quirk" he uttered, his voice filled with anguish. "This cursed family bloodline just has too many quirk factors in our genetics!"

Mayuri stood beside them. She offered her reassurance, her voice laced with a calm resolve. "Don't worry too much, Shinji," she said, her tone steady and soothing. "One more quirk does no harm to us, the better question is, are you sure that this is his second and not his third, after all he should have inherited 'that' Quirk of yours. With our bodies, we can easily hold two and three are also no problem. It just becomes problematic starting with the fourth."

"I don't think he inherited 'that' quirk." Said Yuki's father with confidence.

Hearing this, the old woman quickly replied. "You can never be sure about that, after all you also only found out after 'that' incident. At that time you were already an adult."

"True, without that strange eyed madman murdering grandpa and grandma, they would still have had ten more years to live. Up to this day I was not able to find him. It's as if he escaped to another world." Shinji said, while thinking back to the incident that caused his grandparents death.

They were people that had suffered their entire life from possessing too many quirks. Luckily for them one was a life extension quirk that would allow normal people to live over 200 years with ease. However due to possessing multiple quirks their lifespan was cut short and their bodies were weak throughout their entire life, resulting in a single man being able to kill them. If their bodies would not have been that weak, they would easily have been able to kill the current symbol of peace.

As the weight of their conversation hung in the air, a sudden gust of wind swept through them, causing their clothes to billow and their hair to dance in the invisible current. An eerie stillness settled over Tokyo, accompanied by an ominous darkening of the clouds overhead. The atmosphere crackled with anticipation, as if nature itself held its breath.

Then, in a spectacular display of power, a bolt of lightning descended from the heavens, its electric tendrils striking directly at the Yuki Takehara.

Anguished cries of Ayumi and Shinji filled the air, a chorus of fear and desperation as they witnessed the lightning strike their beloved son. The shock and horror of the moment threatened to overpower their senses, their hearts pounding in their chests. "Noo, my son!" they exclaimed in unison, their voices trembling with a mix of anguish and disbelief.

In that fleeting instant, time stood still. The world seemed to hold its breath, suspended in a state of awe and wonder. And as the lightning coursed through Yuki's small form. This marked the completion of his quirk awakening.

Amidst their distress Mayuri interjected with her calm reassurance. Her voice cut through the chaos like a beacon of hope. "Do not worry," she said, her tone soothing yet resolute. "That's just a normal occurrence. I remember when you awakened your quirk. A pillar of light struck down at us. At that time, I was just as worried as you are now. However, according to my parents, something like this happens every time a member of this family awakens a quirk."

As if on command, Yuki emerged from the aftermath of the lightning strike, seemingly unharmed. His young face held a mix of curiosity and wonder, his eyes gleaming with newfound understanding. "Interesting," he murmured, his voice laced with a hint of excitement. "So I can create any kind of wind and storm."

Intrigued by the untapped potential within him, Yuki couldn't resist the urge to experiment with his newfound powers. Excitement flickered in his eyes as he contemplated the possibilities that lay before him. "Hmm… I always wanted some snow," he mused aloud, a mischievous grin tugging at the corners of his lips. "How about we have a small blizzard in the Kanto region?"

However, his father's stern voice cut through the air, a warning laced with authority. "Do this, and you are grounded for an indefinite amount of time!" Shinji's words held a firmness that brooked no negotiation.

Undeterred, Yuki turned to his mother, his pleading eyes searching for a glimmer of understanding. "Please," he implored, his voice tinged with a mix of innocence and desire. "Just a small one, I promise nobody will know it happened because of me."

Ayumi hesitated for a moment, but then her maternal instincts kicked in. "No," she joined, her voice filled with determination.

"How about a small tornado? I've always wanted to know how they work," stated the young Yuki, his voice filled with curiosity and a touch of mischief. The idea of harnessing the power of wind in such a formidable way intrigued him.

But his parents' response was swift and resolute. "No," they both said in unison, their voices echoing with concern and caution.

Frustration bubbled within Yuki. "What's the use of this quirk if you won't allow me to use it?" he retorted, a tinge of disappointment seeping into his words. Although he already knew from the very beginning that he would get in trouble if he did so, teasing his parents a bit was definitely worth it.

In an attempt to impart wisdom, Shinji stepped forward. "Do you see me throwing around light beams? Or do you see your grandmother using her wind manipulation to cause catastrophes?"

There was a deliberate omission of his mother in his words, knowing full well, that she uses her quirk in all sorts of situations.

"I am neither you nor Grandma," he stated, but then Yuki's eyes widened, searching for answers. "Wait, did you just say you can throw light beams around? Why have I never seen you use it?"

Shinji, grateful for the opportunity to divert his son's attention away from the dangerous allure causing catastrophes, offered a reassuring smile. "As I've already mentioned to you many times, I choose not to use the aspects of my quirk aside from flight," he explained. "Why should I? We have heroes all around the country doing the work, protecting us."
