Alan felt a surge of excitement and determination. He had gotten what he wanted. He had gotten Castemere. He had gotten his chance to prove himself.

He knew the game. He had always known the game. He had learned it from his previous life, where he had risen from poverty to wealth, from obscurity to fame, from weakness to power. He had learned it from his father, who had taught him how to be ruthless and cunning, how to be strong and proud, how to be a Lannister.

He knew what he had to do. He had to rebuild Castemere. He had to make it his own. He had to make it a fortress and a palace, a mine and a port, a home and a legacy.

He had a plan. He had a vision. He had a goal.

It was only three years since the Greyjoy rebellion, when Balon Greyjoy had declared himself king of the Iron Islands and attacked the mainland. The rebellion had been crushed by King Robert Baratheon and his allies, including Tywin Lannister and Eddard Stark. The Iron Islands had been subdued and humbled, but not destroyed.

Alan knew that they would rise again. He knew that they would seek revenge and glory. He knew that they would target the Westerlands and its rich lands and coasts.

He wanted to be ready for them. He wanted to build a fleet again. He wanted to have ships and sailors, warriors and weapons, captains and admirals.

But first, he had to empty the mines of Castemere from all the water. The mines were the source of Castemere's wealth and power, but they were also its downfall. They were flooded by Tywin Lannister during the Reyne-Tarbeck rebellion, when he unleashed the waters of a nearby lake into them, drowning everyone inside.

Alan knew how to drain them. He knew a method of using pumps, powered by windmills or waterwheels, to suck out the water and clear the tunnels. He knew how to restore them and make them productive again.

He also knew that he needed help. He needed engineers and workers, miners and smiths, carpenters and masons.

He needed his second brother Tyrion Lannister.

Tyrion was his favorite sibling. Tyrion was smart and funny, kind and brave, loyal and honest. Tyrion was also a dwarf, hated and mocked by everyone, even by their father.

Alan loved him and respected him. He wanted to help him and protect him. He wanted to work with him and learn from him.He wanted to ask him for his advice and assistance.He wanted to invite him so as to write his own legacy and now it begins
