A switched behaviorial syndrome

Eric left the unconscious girl in the room and made his way downstairs to follow behind his dejected brother.

Evans's mood has completely changed from humor to disappointment in mere seconds... Which hurt Eric more than his answer to his question a while ago.

Amongst the twins, Evans was more sentimental than Eric, so he always showed his emotions and gets hurt more, that's why he needed more attention ever since they were kids, and their Nanny knew that, hence she loved him more.

This was the reason why Eric decided not to tell Evans about Kristine yet, until he had confirmed everything.

Unluckily for him, Evans had to find out the wrong way and even ask. But Eric couldn't lie to his brother and now, Evans feels disappointed and betrayed.

The past memories with Rachel were still fresh and engraved inside Evans's mind. He felt that way because, it had affected him greatly, much more than Eric ever thought.

As teenagers at that time, who just turned eighteen at a stage where every teenager begins to feel like they were finally becoming an adult.

Meanwhile, that was the age they couldn't enjoy in their life since their Nanny abandoned them on that night the same day.

They came back from their Prom festival that night and they made sure they came home before midnight, hoping to meet the best surprise their Nanny had prepared for them since she was always the first to wish them on every Birthday at exactly midnight. And even the first to surprise them with gifts.

Most often at times, their Nanny surprises them with sparkles of beautiful fireworks with a birthday wish written on them.

But that day was different...They arrived home excited and curious to find out what was in store for them on their eighteenth birthday only to meet her gone, with no letters nor messages or phone calls...Nothing!

Evans drowned his emotions on being the wayward Kid. As the studious kid in the family, Evans quit studying and adopted the teenage irresponsible lifestyle.

A completely different lifestyle than what he was known for.

He was the upright, kind, and gentle kid while Eric was the mischievous, naughty, and troublesome one.

But after their Nanny left, it was like a reversed moment for both of them as they behave differently in each other's behavioral roles, in order to overcome their pain and disappointments from being abandoned.

They had a switched behavior syndrome and it went on for months nonstop.

On the other hand, Evan felt the most abandoned by Rachel's choice to choose Kristine over them, since he had always been their Nanny's favorite.

Eric always thought their Nanny was like a mother they never had, and she loved them above anything else, but to Evans, his opinion was that Nanny Rachel wasn't like Mom, She was Mom!

Until Kristine's presence in their life changed everything!

When Rachel left them and went away with Kristine, Evans couldn't handle it for years, and he became very rebellious against their Dad and Stepmom, Clara. Evans later blamed their dad for all his misery and for bringing Kristine home.

"Why did you bring her home, Dad, why! Why didn't just leave her outside, or maybe, send her to the orphanage or something!. She ruined our lives. We had a perfect life with Nanny Rachel before she came. She took everything!!" Evans would yell and accuse their dad anytime Dad tried to punish him for his rebellion.

One day, for the first time, their dad got frustrated and even cried.

"Please, Evans... This isn't you! pull yourself together!" Then the tears flew from their father's eyes for the first time, after countless efforts to put Evans in check for his wayward behavior, before he completely follow the wrong path for good!.

What their dad was scared of the most was Evans doing drugs in the long run, so he promised to bring back their Nanny no matter what.

"You want your Nanny, right? I will bring her back...I promise." Their Dad had to result to this to get Evans to slow down from his rebellion.

But it was like their Nanny vanished from the face of the earth... untraceable, completely out of their lives for good!

Then Evans's pain began to grow from yearning to resentment then into anger, and slowly, it harden his heart. He later buried himself in his studies when their Dad had to lie to them that their Nanny left because she didn't want them to see her sick and battling with an incurable disease.

This was the only way their father thought of to pull Evans out of his rebellious life and it worked.

Months later, Evans made it his aim to become a doctor so he could somehow meet his Nanny even for treatment, and get her back into good health. That was the sole reason why Evans became the doctor he was today.

However, a few days later, they came home and heard their dad and stepmother arguing. And that was when they heard the real truth behind their Nanny's disappearance.

"Nicholas, stop searching for Rachel! I didn't tell you the truth because I didn't want to hurt the boys. But she blackmailed me for money and abandoned the boys. She left with that homeless girl you brought home...So there it is! The truth is finally out." Clara's eyes met theirs at the door as she spoke.

Their Dad's back was facing them so Clara noticed their presence first and moved to stop them when Evans dashed out of the house feeling hurt and betrayed.

Heartbroken from his dad's lies and accusing their stepmother of not stopping Rachel from leaving, Evans left the house and Eric had to follow behind him since he was also hurt by the lies.

That was the last time they ever set foot at the Kurt Mansion till today.

Therefore, finding out about Kristine this way must have ripped Evans's heart and re-opened old wounds, especially when he became the reason she was saved and out of danger now.

Evans hated their Nanny until his hatred finally consumed him and included Kristine in it.

But he seemed to hate Kristine more and more as the day goes by.... why her!" Evans would always ask.

"Does it still hurt? Do you hate her as much as before?" Eric asked curiously.

Even though he was still surprised about his brother's answer to his question back in the room, when he asked Evans if he would have never treated Kristine if he knew she was the same one he hated for years....and he answered in affirmative.

"I don't know what I feel, but when you told me she was that Kristine, I just remembered that Nanny. It was as if all the pain I experienced all those years multiplied like ten-folds. I really don't have anything against the girl right now, but I don't know why this pain wouldn't go away. I thought I was over it." Evans's voice was full of pain as he spoke to his brother.

Eric moved to console his brother by tapping him on his shoulders, while Evans was trying his best to hold back his tears.

"She betrayed us, Eric...She took the money over us. What hurts me the most was that she never looked back. But still, I waited and hoped continuously, that she might come back for us someday!.... But until today, she never came. She must have completely forgotten us by now....living a luxurious life, after all the money she shamelessly took from Stepmother." Evans paused in his speech and then turned to Eric, suddenly scared.

He questioned Eric about how he knew it was her, or if their father knew about her too.

Eric simply teased him about being worried for them, for their Dad's knowing.

After that incident, their Dad's hatred for their Nanny exceeded theirs, since he nearly lost his sons in the past and Rachel also became the reason they left home and were still angry with him.

"That Nanny should make sure she is never found... Or else, if I ever cross paths with her, I would definitely ruin her.!" That was their Dad's last comment when he approached them countless times to convince them to return home.

However, they refused to return home and asked their Dad for some space to overcome everything.

Even though they speak with their Dad from time to time, their relationship wasn't like before.

Their dad was the kind of person who loved to keep people in check. Especially his rivals who made it their aim to ruin him. Once he knew anyone trying to mess with him or his family, he would keep them under twenty-four/seven surveillance and monitor their every move.

However, he wouldn't react, unless he feels some kind of threat then he would hit them where it hurts the most, and they wouldn't be able to recover from it.

This was their Dad's strategy for years...

All those years, Evans blamed himself for their Nanny not coming back to them. He later thought Rachel didn't return because of his stubbornness and rebellion

Moreover, what bothered him the most, was why she had to accept that damned money. Was she with them just for the money? Did she ever sincerely love them?

Those were the questions Evans kept asking himself over the years, which he didn't have an answer to.

Whereas, he found it harder to even ask their Stepmother because, he was scared the answer might hurt him more, so he avoided ever asking...Until now!

"But why do you think she took that money and left...Did you ever find out!" The long-awaited question finally popped out from Evans's lips.

"That's exactly what intrigued me till today. Dad wouldn't tell me when I asked before, but I will find out eventually, about what they are both hiding from us.

We need to know the entire truth about what happened ten years ago!" Eric was now more determined than ever to find out.

"Dad somehow had something to do with her leaving right?..." Evans asked.

"I have no idea...I received a call from an unknown number last month asking me if I want to know why our Nanny left. And Since then, I have been receiving gifts and packages from an unknown sender. That was why I started this investigation. The call seemed strange, so I realized there might be something important we didn't know about." Eric shared all the information about how his investigations started.

As he learned more and more about the incidents in their past through the investigation reports Henry sent him...There were many loopholes he didn't notice before.

First, their Nanny Rachel, and one of his Stepmother's security guards, Steven Sanders abruptly left the house together that same night. Then they went into hiding for a long time.

Suddenly, he recently found out that both their Nanny and the security guard were now a married couple with a fully grown young daughter... Rhea Sanders.

Then suddenly, they came out from hiding and finally settled in Textile city, and the security guard was now a military agent.

How weird and cumbersome the entire situation turned out to be.

Eric secretly had Henry run a DNA test on Rachel and Steven to find out what their relation to Rhea was, and he was shocked when Rhea turned out to be their biological daughter.

However, why would Rachel become a Nanny to them for soo long when she seemed to already have a daughter?

What actually happened?

It all seemed like a chapter from a mystery book. No matter how deep he and Henry continued digging for the truth new shocking revelations kept turning up. There were a lot of different packages of surprises to unravel.

"I don't want any loose ends in my investigations and my gut feeling keeps pushing me to dig further, so I did!." Eric closed the small distance between them and placed his hand on Evans's shoulders before he continued...

"Evans, there is a lot we don't know about our Nanny and we would surely find out after we are through with this investigation." Eric finally ended his explanations to his curious brother, who couldn't help but find all that he said quite suspicious too.

Evans understood his brother's point of view on how all this happened, but it still hurt him that Eric left him in the dark and didn't bother to let him know anything all this time.

Moreover, Evans wanted to help in the investigation as well, but he realized he had to leave it for Eric to finish what he started.

On the condition that Eric keeps him posted on all his future findings and would never hide anything from him again. And Eric agreed!

The twins hugged each other and their bond strengthened even more since they were now on the same page and preparing for the same goal.

After their sentimental moments were over, Evans prepared to go back to the hospital.

"I have to get back to the hospital...keep me updated on her condition." Evans uttered referring to the unconscious Kristine.

Eric chuckled upon hearing his brother's statement and he never misses out on teasing his brother.

"You really want me to keep you posted about her condition?.. Now what? Did your doctor's oath suddenly kick in?" Eric commented teasingly concerning his brother's statement not to treat Kristine.

"I guess so...Oh! that damn Hippocratic Oath!. For the first time, I just want to sue the person who brought that Oath." Evans groaned as if in pain in reply to his brother's teasing, leaving Eric laughing at his expense.

Evans couldn't help but laugh at his brother's humor as he made his way toward his car, and finally, the good mood and humor was now evident once again.

Meanwhile, on second thoughts, Evans paused in his tracks towards his car and turned towards Eric. He traced his footsteps back to where Eric was standing and punched him in the stomach hard.... and twice!

"Ouch!... That hurts! What was that for?" Eric groaned in pain.

"That! Eric...Is for not telling me about Kristine.... before I treated her. And the second is for hiding everything from me until I asked. If I hadn't figured it out or asked, you wouldn't have told me. Bye! buddy...Take care!." Evans ignored his brother's groans and walked briskly to his car.

"That's not fair! So you really wouldn't have treated her if you knew beforehand?" Eric found his voice amidst his pains.

Evans, on the other hand, entered his car and then shut the door before he lowered his glass window to answer his brother.

"Of course, I wouldn't! But since I am bound by that damn Hippocratic Oath, I would have no choice.

"Seriously? Are you really saying that to me? what if I got in trouble or maybe, thrown into prison for hit and run or murder? It wouldn't make a difference to you?" Eric reasoned.

"Of course, it would.....but don't worry, I would have found you the best lawyer and gotten your sentence reduced. Bye! I am off.'

Evans drove out of the mansion with a broad satisfied smile on his face while Eric fumed then later chuckled after his brother left.

He knew how soft and emotional Evans was... and he wouldn't be able to do all that he said.

Eric climbed the stairs back to his room to get a brief sleep since that girl woke him earlier than he was supposed to.

From all the chaos of the day, he forgot to update Sofia on Kristine's condition like he promised. He had to call her and talk to her so she wouldn't worry about the incident last night.

Jeff appeared exactly at that moment to remind him to call Sofia.

That was weird! and absurd!

Jeffery Roland of all people just reminded him to call Sofia? Where did all his dislike for her go?

Jeff used to hate Sofia's guts, especially when rumours broke about both of them dating last year.

"What changed?" Eric didn't realize he had said that aloud.

Jeff's explanation of his change made Eric wish he had never asked. He couldn't believe Jeff was beginning to ship him together with Sophia as a couple.

He kept blabbing about how great Sophia was and even went as far as to grind him with soo many questions.

"Eric,...Did you ever stop to think about the reason Sophia was always so clingy when it comes to you?" Eric suddenly knew he was about to get busted!

Then suddenly another question.....

"Did you ever think about Sophia's lame excuses to extend her time with you? even during on-set shoots?

Then another one...

"Are you really a famous actor? How could you not guess that Sofia Pentson has always been in love with you!" And that was when Jeffery Roland finally completed his lecture.

And Eric who was silent the entire exclaimed in shock at his last statement.

"What?!!

"As if that was ever a secret." Eric added within his breaths.

"Oh Yes! I already knew you had never thought of it or imagined it. Poor Sofia! How could she like a dumb guy like you!." Jeff wasn't giving up and kept grinding him for his lack of intuition, and Eric finally gave up!

He escorted Jeff out of his room and locked the door behind him, just to put an end to his endless mumblings.

But the last thing Eric heard before he shut the door was Jeff's frustrated screams as he made his way down the stairs.

Eric heaved a relief sigh behind his door then chuckled at himself.

How did he end up getting busted by this strange girl, then brother and manager at the same time today...

"Poor me!"
