Death and Rebirth

A girl with black hair and eyes sat on the train with her eyes glued to her phone and earphones plugged in. She was re-watching the final episode of Kuroko no Basuke, her favourite all-time sports anime. If you ever visited her room, you'd probably see the walls covered with posters of the Generation of Miracles and the Seirin Team.

She also had a massive collection of figurines lined on her shelves.

The episode finally ended and Yui smiled in content. It didn't matter how often she watched the series as it never got old. She took her earphones out of her ears and placed them in her bag. The train grew dark outside as it entered the tunnel.

Suddenly, there was a loud bang and screeching of wheels. The passengers screamed, including Yui, when the train jerked and threw people out of their seats. The windows broke and glass shards flew everywhere.

One particular shard ended up in Yui's abdomen and she glanced down at the blood flowing with tears in her eyes.

'Mom, brother, I'm sorry. Looks like I won't make it home for dinner.'

The tears fell down her face as her whole world slowly became black. Then...nothing.

*Wahhhh*

"It's a girl!" a voice exclaimed.

Yui heard screaming and realised it was coming out of her own mouth. Just what was happening? She was sure she died so why on earth did she feel very much alive now? And why was she screaming?

Her eyes opened only to be greeted by a bright light and people wearing doctor's robes staring down at her. Only then did it click.

'Wait, was I...reborn?'

Her body was cleaned and she was then handed to a tired looking woman on a bed. The woman gave a sad smile to the baby in her arms.

" Oh my beautiful daughter. *Sniffle* I wish I could take you with me but I can't. I'm so sorry my darling,"

Yui whose eyes closed automatically, heard the woman and was startled.

'Wait wait wait. I was just reborn in this world and you're going to give me up?? How-why?'

Sadly, Yui could do nothing about her current predicament given she was but a new-born baby with practically no power. All she could do was hope for the best and pray she will be placed in good hands.

From her mother's voice, she could somewhat tell that her mother loved her. In other words, she had no choice but to give Yui up. This made Yui feel a bit better knowing that her mom does love her and because of that, she would probably be sent somewhere good.

Yui felt sad as she thought about her own mother. What were her and brother doing? She wondered how they took the news of her death. Probably not well considering they had lost their father two years prior.

Her family situation was pretty sad but they were better off then many. Her mom had a good job, she and her brother both did well at school. It wasn't luxury but it was good enough.

'Mom, bro, please don't mourn for me too long. You both must carry on living without me and dad. I love you both.'

She sent this message in her mind hoping it would somehow reach the two of them. After that, her mind tuned out and she fell asleep.

A little girl sat on the bench in a park reading a book. The surrounding kids were busy playing on the swings while their caretaker, Miss Hana, watched from the side. Miss Hana turned her attention to the pretty little girl sitting on the bench with her nose in a book and she sighed.

Yui had been placed in the orphanage two days after she was born. She was such a quiet baby that the caretakers thought there was something wrong with her. They took her to a paediatrician who said there was nothing wrong with her and that she was just a quiet baby.

As time passed, little Yui showed signs of intelligence that was ahead of her peers, being able to read at only 2 and learning to speak properly at 3. Yui always kept to herself and forever had her little nose stuck in a book. She only spoke when spoken and never attempted to make conversations with other kids.

The caretakers were worried she was isolating herself so Yui who was mentally 16, decided to join the rest in the park today to ease their worries slightly even though she still read her book.

Her tiny hands flipped to the next page when someone lifted the book out of her hands. She looked at the perpetrator confused until Miss Hana spoke to her.

"Yui-chan, why don't you go play a little? It's fine for you to read but you should make some friends okay? Go on now,"

Yui sighed and hopped off the bench before grudgingly walk to the rest of the kids who were currently building a sand castle in the sand pit. She settled next to a small black-haired boy whose hands and eyes were focused on his little construction.

"Do you want some help?" she asked when she saw the castle not holding up. The boy looked at her surprised before answering. "Okay. Who are you?"

"I'm Yui. You're Akio-kun,"

"How did you know?"

"...Miss Hana told me," No she didn't but this is a 5-year-old Yui was talking to. He wouldn't care.

Yui helped Akio build the sand castle and easily outdone the other sand castles that were being built. Of course this was because Yui took charge and better handled the sand. The two became friends through this little activity as Yui thought Akio was quite cute. Of course not in a weird way.

It was a shame when Akio was adopted. Yui went back to her usual self and continued to read and learn much to her caretakers disappointment and pleasure. They knew nothing would make the girl branch out so they stopped forcing her to interact with the other kids. It wasn't like she was a lot of trouble anyway since she always obeyed them and never caused trouble.

Yui was a cute girl with brown hair and green eyes. She was also intelligent so it was a wonder why she was never adopted. Perhaps the parents wanted a more...normal child? Regardless, Yui ended spending most of her childhood at the orphanage and the day finally arrived for her to go to school.

So like, this is my original fan-fic and if you see this on another website...don't worry.
