Nick put Kiara to bed for the first time, THough the bed was uncomfortable and the blanket was not soft as it used to be she barely noticed it because of the overwhelming feeling of happiness, joy, and warmth.
"Dad?!" She said.
Nick looked at her with a questioning look.
"Can you read me a story?" When she received the slightest attention from her father she thought she could go a step ahead and ask for another affectionate gesture. Nick took a breath and looked down at his watch and then shook his head sideways. "I don't have time, I need to work. Go to sleep." HE said and got up from his knees to leave the room.
