Competition 2

Having finished the first round of the competition, the remaining students that qualify to the next round was given some minutes to rest before they continue.

The forty contestants from the first round has dwindle down to just twenty four and the hundred questions from the start was now sixty in numbers.

Having just one chance to get things right without any mistake seems to be a real problem for the students as most of them were finding it hard to solve the question and was being eliminated one after the other.

"Kiran what's happening to you, are you sure you are feeling well?" Asked Mr Andrew as he approached him.

Raising his head from the desk he was resting on, he gently nod before resting it back on the desk.

"If you know you can't continue just say it so you don't have to trouble yourself with it, your health is more important than any other thing" said mr Andrew.

There's no way in earth that he would endanger the life of his student just because of an award.

'I know you are not someone to give up Kiran, just hang on a little more and continue to add point so Lydia can win this' said Mr Andrew inwardly.

Seeing as how Kiran is right now, their only hope of winning was currently lying on the hands of Lydia.

"I'm okay" was the reply from Kiran as he continued to rest his head.

'Attaboy, I know you won't give up' said Mr Andrew inwardly with joy.

Seeing as their time of rest was coming to an end and the second round of the competition would be starting now, all the students that qualify quickly started going back to their podium.

The first person that started the second round was a girl from Queens Royal academy, a partner to miss Jane.

Picking the number which suite her, the question was display on the screen and so as the timer.

She quickly started solving as she know that the timer won't wait for her. Seeing as the timer was close to zero and she haven't finish solving, she quickly call an answer out of desperation.

"You did good miss Alicia, it isn't easy to get to the second round, therefore it pains me to say this but your answer is wrong and you have been eliminated" announced the judge as he gestured for her to leave the podium.

The second person to pick a number was a boy from Prosperous High academy. He didn't waste time in solving the moment his question was display on the screen.

Seeing as it was three seconds left on the timer, he quickly called out his answer as he know that he couldn't waste any more time.

"That's correct Master John, five addition marks to Prosperous High academy" announced the judge as the score change to fifteen on the screen.

Prosperous high school was now taking the lead with five points ahead as the others haven't answer their questions yet.

Getting to Kiran turn for the second time, he picked a number and wait for the question to be display on the screen.

He close his eyes for some time and opening them so he could see the question on the screen properly as his sight always seems to be blurry at first.

Trying to control his heavy breathing so as to read properly, he managed to get a grip of the question in his brain. He didn't waste time as he quickly started solving the question on his material.

Shaking his head, he quickly gave his answer as he knew the timer was close to zero.

"That's correct master Kiran, five additional points to Brilliance High" announced the judge.

'God please continue to show us favor' prayed mr Andrew as he bite on his fingernails.

Bitting on his fingernails as seem to be a way for him to release the pressure any time Kiran was to answer a question.

Reaching the turn of Abigail, she picked her number with the question now being display on the screen.

After solving for it, she gave her answer with it being right, making her school fifteen points with some of the others.

Reaching the turn of Lydia, she didn't waste time as she picked her number before the question was then display on the screen.

Solving and giving out her answer in less than forty five seconds, the judge called out the result with Brilliance high now having twenty points on the scoreboard.

"Knowing that Lydia is the next to answer always put my heart at ease" said mr Andrew as he look at the scoreboard with joy.

Everyone looking at the Lydia couldn't help but feel amaze by how she was able to solve her questions so quickly.

'Is she that confident in herself for her not to cross check her work?' Asked Abigail to herself as she looked at her.

"You are next miss Clara, please pick your number" said the judge as they have been waiting for her for some time now.

This wasn't the first time this was occuring, about six different students has been in the same spot as her. Praying not to pick a question which would get them eliminated.

'Which number should I pick, I pray it shouldn't be hard, God, this is so frustrating' said Clara inwardly. "I pick number twenty two".

Seeing the question now displayed on the screen, she almost lost her balance but quickly compose herself to solve it as she knew she doesn't have time to waste.

'God why!, why does it have to be Riemann hypothesis' cried Clara inwardly as she continue her solving. 'Even though it's just the basic, but it's still too hard'.

Before she could even raise her head to look at the timer, it has already start ringing, signaling that her time was up.

"You did good Miss Clara, but you have been eliminated" announced the judge as she walked out of the podium.

"You did good Clara, you don't have to cry" said her teacher as she gave her a hug.
