Chapter 9: Joining the heavenly demon sect.

Kai walked out of the auction houseand started walking to his courtyard, he walked openly because he knew these people won't hurt him openly.

Luckily for him, he returned back to his courtyard safely, he immediately entered the cultivation room cause he actually can't wait to check his gain from the auction.

He took out the wooden gate, and started studying it. He spent a few minutes doing that, but the gate still gave no reaction nor did he figure something out from it. Kai kept the wooden gate back, since he couldn't figure out anything about it.

Then he took out the mysterious scroll and the star lotus, firstly he decided to absorb the star lotus to temper his body, with the hope that it would help him reach the peak of the stellar realm.

Kai spent two days absorbing the whole star lotus, but he was disappointed, because he couldn't reach the peak of the stellar realm, but he knew he was close to it.

Next he started trying to open the scroll, he tried to use force to open it but nothing happened, he attacked it with his heavy saber, and surprisingly, he couldn't even leave a scratch on the scroll.

After trying for thirty minutes, Kai gave up and sat down trying to find another way to open the scroll, moreover he doesn't have any energy stored in his body so he couldn't transfer any energy into the scroll to see if it would react to that.

He became helpless, and he started fiddling with the scroll, while looking at the runes around it. Suddenly the scroll edge managed to pierce Kai's strong body, he felt pained and blood started dropping from this wound, moreover his blood was now dripping on the scroll.

Kai quickly put his finger in his mouth and started sucking it in order to stop the bleeding. Suddenly, he noticed the patterns around the scroll are now active, and they started circulating in a mysterious motion.

The scroll started floating in front of Kai, mysteriously it started unfurling itself, Kai's eyes widened in surprise seeing the turn of events.

Immediately the scroll finished unfurling itself, and Kai froze on the spot. There was an image in the scroll, it was an image of a universe but there is more to this universe, in-fact it looks like the combination of all laws connected together to form a universe.

Kai suddenly felt his soul being drawn into the universes. Then he saw himself in a dark space, and in this space, he saw a small light. This light had been there for millions of years, but suddenly it started growing until it became a world. Another million years passed, it became a planet, and then after millions of years, it became a universe.

All of a sudden Kai regained consciousness back, he became confused, "what was that all about?". He asked himself, but there was no clarity.

Then Kai focused back on the scroll, but this time, he only saw the universe, he couldn't understand or comprehend anything from the scroll anymore.

He kept trying for the whole day, but nothing changed, no reaction, in-fact he dropped more blood on the scroll, but still no reaction.

He gave up the next day, he went out the training ground, practiced his saber art, movement art and also did some body training, before he sat down to meditate.

Two more days left before the heavenly demon sect starts their entrance exam.

Kai was meditating, while processing his next move, he knew that he has no talent for cultivation, nor is he a heaven favorite genius, so he had to put twice the effort and calculation to every step he wanted to take.

Suddenly something clicked in his mind, "hold on, the scroll opened up after absorbing my blood, maybe the wooden gate can also be opened with this process". Immediately this thought appeared in his mind, he stood up and went to the cultivation room to try it out.

He cut his palm open and started dropping blood on the gate. Surprisingly, it worked; all his blood was absorbed by the gate. But suddenly, he lost control of the whole situation; his blood was not under his control anymore, and his body started growing weaker and weaker. The gate was not just absorbing his blood; now it was absorbing his spirit, essence, and every energy in his body.

Kai tried to resist, but he couldn't move his body at all. After five minutes, the gate suddenly merged with the pattern on his forehead, and immediately Kai lost consciousness, but now there was a golden gate pattern on his forehead that is as visible as the day.

Kai slept for two days before he woke up, but when he woke up, he felt so powerful, his body has become stronger than before, and there are stars all around his bones and organs.

He was now more confused about the turns of situations, one minute ago he was weaker than a normal mortal and the next minute, he was stronger than he ever was.

However, before he could process thing's completely, old man Lu's voice came in, " young master, you have five hours left before the heavenly demon sect begin their entrance exam, so you need to get moving now so you can meet".

Kai stood up and quickly rushed out, he saw old Lu standing in the entrance, so he told him to hold for a few minutes, he rushed back inside, took a quick bath, and changed into a new dress, before rushing back to meet old Lu.

All this only took him thirty minutes, old Lu handed over a map and token to Kai, he had helped Kai register for the exam, and necessary stuff, so all Kai needed to do was to be present and participate in the exam.

Kai bade farewell to old Lu and gave him more benefits before he started walking toward the city exit. But along the way he noticed some people, with hostile gaze following him.

Kai was not afraid much now, because he is much stronger than before and he believes he can handle an expert in the journeyman stage of the mortal realm.

So he walked out of the city and started running toward the direction of the heavenly demon sect, which was the only sect that belonged to the city but was not located in the city.

He was running at top speed, but suddenly a sinister laughter rang out behind him, " hehehehe, you think, you can run away from me after the public insult?" Kai looked back after he heard this voice and he saw old man snake poison rushing towards him at top speed.

Immediately he knew he couldn't outrun this petty old man, so he stopped. Moreover he saw seven more men behind the old man's snake poison, and these men's aura was no different from the old man.

Within a second he was surrounded by nine men, old man snake poison was in the expert stage of mortal realm and among the others, one of them had the same aura as old man poison snake while the rest were in the journeyman stage.

Kai's eyes turned fierce, he knew these people were here to kill him, to survive this situation, he would need to run, or prepare to take them along with himself.

A huge heavy saber quickly appeared in Kai's hand. He pointed at the old man's poisoned snake, " petty old man, what do you want from me ?" He asked.

"Heheh, of course I want your life, for you dare to go against me, so hand over your life gently, don't make things hard for me". The old man said to Kai while a green dagger appeared in his hand.

"We only want the treasure in your possession so hand it over". The other man who has the same aura as the old man also spoke out fiercely.

"Tsk, you want my life and treasure, then come get it, let's see if you have the capability to do so". Kai said out angrily, of course he was very angry with this unreasonable action, but then he knew that there is nothing unreasonable in the world of cultivation, as long as one has power, he is a god.

Immediately Kai replied to them, he was attacked from behind, he quickly slash his saber behind, a huge metal sound rang out, and a figure was thrown back, it was one of the other men in the journeyman stage, who attacked him.

But before Kai could relax, the old man snake poison lunged at him, with terrifying speed and immediately, his dagger appeared close to Kai's throat, Kai immediately tilted his head back a little and he kicked the old man in the stomach, sending him away.

He quickly turned back and used his saber to parry the attack by the man with the same aura as the old man.

Bang, Kai took ten rapid steps back after the collision, suddenly, another sword strike aimed for his kneecap, wanting to decapitate him, Kai knew it was too late for him to dodge, so slash his saber downward, also aiming for the attacker's head.

Clang.. when the man sword smashed into Kai leg, the sound of metal colliding was what rang out, the man was surprised, even Kai was surprised, but he wasted no time with his attack and quickly beheaded the man.
