Chapter 5: Meet The Family

When the time came Damian was finally able to step out of the room he had been in for the past two days. As Wendy had said before, tonight they would return to the Clayton family home to introduce Damian as Wendy's husband.

Then Damian was directed to a car that he believed belonged to Wendy, without waiting long he got into the car and was immediately greeted with a small box that was thrown at him.

Damian frowned and glanced at Wendy in confusion, "What is this, Wendy?" asked Damian not understanding what Wendy meant by giving him a small box.

Out of curiosity Damian opened the small box and he was even more confused when he saw a ring in there.

"Are you stupid? Of course we have to be seen wearing rings, do you want to be caught cheating on my family?" Wendy rolled her eyes lazily.

Then Damian just nodded his head without thinking about it anymore, if he didn't want to get caught then he had to do this. Damian had to focus on organising his plan for revenge.

The first thing Damian had to do was find out about his previous accident and also he had to find someone he could trust completely to do the things he couldn't do.

On the way to the Clayton family home, Damian listens to the scenario that Wendy has prepared for the two of them. And Damian is given a new identity as Damian Douglass who grew up in an orphanage.

Although Damian had some reservations about his new identity, he could only endure it because he needed it so that he would not be discovered by the people who intended to kill him.

A moment later Damian realised that they had entered an elite neighbourhood where the homes of the wealthy were located. Damian was not surprised at all that Wendy's family home would be on Wetland Boulevard which is famous for housing the elite in Las Vegas.

"I didn't expect to enter an elite neighbourhood like this," Damian said pretending to be flabbergasted, he couldn't make Wendy think that he was familiar with this elite neighbourhood.

"No wonder, I'm sure you wouldn't have been able to get into this neighbourhood if it wasn't for me," Wendy replied looking quite arrogant at the moment.

"At least by accepting your offer I can enjoy a life of luxury," Damian replied, choosing to look out the window, he had to see clearly where he would be living.

Wendy drove the car further up Wetland Boulevard, it could be said that the Clayton family residence was in a very exclusive area. Soon they turned towards a large fence.

After passing through the large fence Wendy still had to drive the car for a while. Damian could see that along this road he could see that his right and left were full of large trees, and he thought that he could make good use of this environment.

Then, they found a huge mansion ahead, they had to pass through a heavily guarded fence before they could finally enter the mansion's spacious courtyard.

Wendy parked her car in front of the lobby of her house, then signalled Damian to follow her. Damian also followed Wendy's steps who immediately entered the house that could be said to be like a palace.

"I didn't expect your house to look so quiet," Damian said when he didn't see anyone there to welcome them.

Damian immediately knew that Wendy's position in her family was troubled, no wonder she asked him to be her husband. However, Damian wouldn't have done anything to help Wendy, if she hadn't asked him for help herself directly.

"I believe they're in the dining room right now," Wendy replied, looking like this situation was familiar to her.

"I didn't expect you to come at a time like this," Damian replied later while chuckling softly, it seemed like Wendy intended to make a dramatic introduction to her family at this time.

In response to that Wendy just shrugged her shoulders nonchalantly while grinning, then led Damian towards the dining room. And sure enough, when Wendy and Damian arrived at the dining room, the entire Clayton family was there.

"Good evening everyone! I didn't expect you guys to wait for me to get home, but I had a surprise for you," Wendy said as she hugged Damian's arm in front of all his family who were currently stunned.

"You're so shameless to interrupt dinner time like this. Which bastard are you bringing home now?!" A beautiful woman who looked arrogant glanced at Wendy sarcastically.

"Gosh, Mum! How can you call my husband a bastard." Wendy made a surprised face when she heard her stepmother's harsh words.

Meanwhile, Damian who was still seeing what would happen got a mission from the System which made him quite surprised.

Ding!

[The mission for the Host has come! The Host must endure the humiliation of this encounter. If the Host can complete this mission, then the System will provide rewards later]

"Looks like tonight I'm going to be thoroughly humiliated by them," Damian's mind could already feel his bad luck about to begin.

Damian could already see the various looks of contempt for him at this time, but he pretended not to notice it, fortunately Wendy pulled him to sit with his family, it seemed that Damian could not say it was lucky.

"What do you mean by husband, Wendy?" It was now a middle-aged man who spoke up which was Wendy's father or the head of the Clayton family.

"Because I didn't want Mum to worry about my mate problem, so I decided to bring my husband home," Wendy replied with a happy grin.

"Sorry to have taken you all by surprise. I'm Damian, Wendy's husband," Damian introduced himself to the Claytons who were still looking at him with disgust.

If Damian didn't need to hide his identity right now, he would shame these people for daring to humiliate him like this. Given that the System ordered him to restrain himself, Damian chose to pretend to be insensitive at the moment.

"Looks like my brother-in-law is very shameless, huh. By the way, which family are you from?" asked one of the fairly young men.

Damian thought that it was one of Wendy's older brothers, but he did not know what his name was, because the Clayton family had many children and he did not know them all by heart.

"Ah, I'm not from a wealthy family. I'm very lucky to be able to fall in love with Wendy," Damian replied, playing his role well, he followed the scenario that Wendy created for their relationship.

Unexpectedly Damian felt his face slapped with cold water and when he realised Wendy's stepmother had poured a glass of cold water right into his face. For a moment Damian didn't know what to do because he was so surprised.
