Chapter 6: Humiliation

Instantly Damian's body froze, honestly he had never been treated this humiliated by others, it seemed he had to feel this kind of humiliation to increase his motivation to avenge himself on the person who had ruined his life.

"Mom, what are you doing?!" Wendy got up from her position while pounding on the dining table, she could not understand what her stepmother had done.

Damian also held Wendy's hand while shaking his head, "It's okay, I'm sure your family will be surprised by my arrival," Damian said while quietly glancing around.

Damian could see that no one objected to what Wendy's stepmother had done to him, in fact it seemed like they were happy with the way she treated him. Damian could only sigh softly, not expecting this family to be kind to him in the future.

"You go back to your room Wendy and take your husband away. His presence only brings a bad atmosphere." This time Wendy's father also spoke up and waved his hand to drive the two of them out of his way.

Seeing that no one was on her side there Wendy clenched her fists in annoyance, she didn't expect their reaction to be this bad, even though she was just getting back at her overbearing stepmother.

"Sorry for messing up your dinner, Mr. Clayton." Damian also got up from his chair while bowing his head apologetically, then he carefully pulled Wendy to leave there.

Before Damian had gone far from the dining room, he had heard how the other Clayton family members had mocked him with very inappropriate words. Damian could only smile softly, it seemed like this was his reward for being arrogant and arbitrary when he was still in power.

"Where's your room? I think we should be together from now on," Damian said, stopping his steps after he was far enough from the dining room. He didn't know where to go because this was his first time coming to the Clayton family home.

Instead of an answer Wendy sighed, "I guess you don't mind the humiliation my family gives me?" Wendy glanced at Damian unpleasantly, she felt guilty for involving Damian with her crazy family.

"That's the risk I had to take after I accepted your offer that time. Can I ask you for something in return?" Damian had thought of something to carry out his plan and for that he needed a little help from Wendy.

After looking around Wendy said, "Don't say it here, come with me!"

Damian then followed Wendy who led him towards the upper floor of this large mansion. Damian also thought that Wendy seemed to be taking him to her room to discuss her previous words.

And sure enough, Damian was taken to Wendy's reading room. Damian seated himself comfortably there, waiting for Wendy to let him speak up about his request.

"So what do you want?" said Wendy matter-of-factly, she was quite curious about what Damian might ask of her.

"Can you hire me?" Damian immediately said what he had been thinking about for a long time.

Wendy frowned in confusion, "Are you sure about your request?" Wendy honestly did not expect Damian to ask her to do this.

"Yes, I'm serious. If you hire me, then I can move around freely. You know there's something I have to do about the accident that happened to me earlier," Damian replied casually, he didn't mind working for Wendy at all as long as he could plan it well.

"If you really want to, then you can be one of my bodyguards. And yes you can do whatever you want, your job is just for display. I won't mind if you do," Wendy replied, nodding her head in agreement with Damian's request.

Damian was able to breathe a sigh of relief after Wendy agreed to his request, this way all he had to do was look for acquaintances to help him find the information he needed.

. . .

After discussing his work problems Damian was able to join Wendy as her bodyguard today, before leaving together with Wendy to Wendy's own company Damian decided to watch the television in the living room.

Actually Damian wanted to see if the accident that happened to him was shown on the news and sure enough the news shown on the television was an accident incident in the mountains of the area where he lived.

"That's right they didn't let on that I had disappeared, not even as a victim," Damian muttered with a smirk, he was now convinced that there really was a traitor within his mafia group.

Although Damian himself understood that there were some people who didn't like him who took over the Estrado family's mafia group. Damian was honestly used to the hatred directed at him, so he always acted as he pleased so that those who hated him would not dare to do anything to him.

However, it seems that Damian's thoughts were not right because he almost died because of someone who wanted him dead. Too lost in his thoughts Damian didn't realise someone was coming towards him.

"I thought you had left here my beloved brother-in-law. Apparently you're mentally tough enough to think of staying here," one of Wendy's older brothers said in a condescending tone to Damian.

"Do you need anything?" asked Damian, not really thinking about George's words.

George snorted in annoyance when he heard Damian dare to speak to him, "Go get my coffee, it's really stifling to see you here!" George pulled Damian off the couch and shooed him away.

Irritated Damian clenched his fists tightly, trying to be patient and not do anything to harm him. Silently Damian left the living room to go get the coffee George was talking about.

"How sad that you can only endure, without being able to do anything," George said in a fairly strong voice, deliberately doing so so Damian could hear what he was saying.

When Damian went into the kitchen he immediately asked the maid, "Where's the coffee for George?" he asked kindly.

However, what Damian got was a condescending look from the maid and she handed him a cup of coffee in a very unfriendly manner. In fact, Damian was almost doused by the coffee if he didn't hold the cup deftly.

Without waiting too long Damian left, worried that the maid would throw hot water on his face if he stayed around the kitchen.

When he returned to the living room with the coffee George had requested, Damian didn't expect someone from behind him to deliberately nudge his arm so hard that the coffee he was carrying was thrown.

And unfortunately the coffee splashes and also the broken glass hit George who was relaxing in the living room, Damian immediately looked at the fallen coffee with horror, he already knew that bad luck would soon come to him this time.
