Unbreakable love: Only one I love

Alex had one goal in life to make enough money so she could give her mother a comfortable life. But her efforts always seemed less fruitful even with her adoptive father and step-sister by her side. "Am not crying, just got something in my eye " Alex sniffed. "Am sorry, here is something that might help" the stranger said passing his handkerchief. "Thank you," she said taking it. After wiping the falling tears she turned to look at the stranger. His long brown hair was moving with the breeze around him as his dark orbs stared down at her. He bent down took his hankie and gently wiped the still falling tears from her eyes, "you missed a spot" he smiled. She smiled remembering that night, it was the day she had met him. Nathan Livingston. The man who claimed to only have eyes for her and soon had proved it.

Keep you Safe.

Nathan was out of the car before his father could stop him.

"Nathan, wait," he said but he was running to where Alex was.

Nathan could feel the anger inside him boiling as he reached where Alex and her mother were.

"Alex!" he said kneeling next to them.

"Ahh, what are you doing here, I thought you left?" she sniffed.

"What is going on?" he asked looking back at the now-closed door. He could hear Cynthia screaming inside calling Alex.

"Nothing, am okay, everything is fine," she said pulling him away from the mansion.

She could see the anger in his eyes and with the bad blood between Mrs White and him, she knew he was more than mad.

His father walked up to them helping her mother up," What happened? "he asked her

"She wanted us out of the house, she said we don't belong there "she cried.

Nathan gently carried Alex up, "Let's go," he said.

"Am fine, you can put me down?" she said.

"You know you don't need to pretend with me, I know you're not okay," he said and started walking to their car. Alex laid back in his arms quietly.

Nathan's father helped her mother into the car, Nathan holding Alex walked to his car and placed her in the back.

"Is your apartment safe, I do not want her coming there too" he said.

Alex shook her head, "It's not mine anymore, she took it back"

He sighed closed the door and walked back to his father.

"Dad let's head home," he said.

"Oh, are they comfortable with that, why not her apartment?" he asked. Before his son could answer, Alex's mother in the back did.

"It's been taken away, her father bought it but she claimed it was never Alex's"

His father turned to Nathan, "Take care of her and drive safely" he said

"Okay, see you home" Nathan moved back to the car.

....

She was silent through the whole drive, Nathan kept glancing at her but Alex seemed so lost in her thoughts.

"We are home, love," he said. She looked up like she was waking up.

"Hmmm?" she answered

"We are here, come out" he gestured. Alex came out and frowned, "this is your place..but" he held her by the waist leading her inside.

"I want us to be alone and don't worry Dad sent me a text, Mom is doing okay," he said.

Alex sighed, "Okay".

He smiled "Come on then"

Ed ran up to Alex the moment the door opened, wagging his tail he barked at them.

"Hi cutie" she picked him up, "Did you miss me," she asked walking away

Nathan watched her go ahead with his dog and smiled, "Should I make you something?" he asked

"No thanks, I will be taking a nap" she answered.

"Okay, let me make a call and join you," he said.

.....

"Dad, how is the mother?" he asked.

"Can't say, she fainted when we got home so I called the doctor. He said it was fatigue, she is fine now resting in the guestroom" he said.

"Thanks, Dad"

"Anything for Alex, speaking of Alex how is she?"

Nathan sighed, "I don't know Dad, she's been quiet am getting worried," he said.

"Give her time, mourning takes time, and with such an abrupt death. She needs time to accept it & heal" he said, "Just be there with her until she's ready to talk about it again"

"Okay Dad, please do take care of mom and always update me," he said.

"I will, you take care of her daughter too" he answered. They hang up and walked back to the rooms where both women were sleeping.

"Alex, Alex, ALEX..." called Nathan. She wasn't in the room and neither was Ed. He frowned searching the other rooms but Alex wasn't there.

Coming out of the house to search outside he felt his phone vibrate.

Checking it was a text from Alex.

"I know you want to help and am glad I have you in my life, but I don't think it's you or anyone I need right now. Being by myself is what I need, I need to think about what am going to do now that I have lost another father and even been thrown away from the place I thought was home. You were right am strong & I can survive this but it's just too hard for me now. An old wound had been reopened and it hurts so much I can't pretend to be okay in front of anyone, especially mother and you. So I will be going away for a while & hope when I return you will still be there waiting for me".

He sighed where had she run off., he continued to read the last part.

"I hope you don't mind, Ed tagged along, I guess he loves me more now" he chuckled, "I hope he keeps you safe for me" he muttered.
