Ugly to Untouchable

My name's Earnest. I won't sugar coat it, I'm butt ugly. I'm the subject of bullying and harrassment in every way, shape, and form. Anyway, in a blind suicide attempt, this barrier of mine came out of nowhere and saved my life? You have to be kidding me, but maybe it's not so bad. It's extremely useful; this could be a chance for me to get even with the world.

Breaking

"What do you think you're doing?" Olivia asked now standing in front of me.

"Just some basic self defense, that's all," I said acting coy.

"You went too far," Olivia said in an accusatory tone.

This made me chuckle a little.

"So what if I did, was it too far when they broke me down each and everyday, when they took and destroyed everything I had?" I said cynically.

I feel like a piece of me is dying, but in the best kind of way.

Olivia paused for a minute before saying anything.

"Of course it was," She said sternly.

I was no longer laughing. She has a lot of nerve.

"Shut up, I don't need to hear that from you of all people," I said coldly.

"As the class president, it's my du-" Olivia spoke before I interupted her by finishing her sentence.

"Duty to protect and nurture the development of all students. That's what you we're gonna say, right?"

"You do-"

"Don't have to do this, look It's getting late and I'm getting ready to call it a day," I said as I walked away from her.

All she could do was stand there looking down at her feet in frustration.

After the hour long trip home, I found that my door was wide open.

I stood in my doorway only to find two men with black suits standing in my living room. They both had sun glasses on and were wearing wires.

Then they turned their attention to me.

"Are you Earnest Jackson?" One of the men said.

"Who's asking?" I asked in return.

"You're coming with us,"

"On what account?"

"You need to come with us or else," the other man said.

"Pft. *chuckle.* Fine I'll humor you," I stated.

The two men came and grabbed me, each gripping me by a 'shoulder.'

"No offense, but you live in a pretty shitty place," One man said.

"You have no idea," I responded.

They led me down the stairs and to a black limousine. They then put a blindfold and handcuffs on me. The car started moving after that.

After about an hour we arrived at some fancy mansion in the mountains. They took the blindfold off, but left the cuffs on.

Politicians and their riches...

We went up a flight of stairs which led to 2 huge wooden doors. Each man pushed open a respective door and directed me inside.

In the back of the room was a stern, but wealthy looking man sitting behind a large desk.

There were taxidermied animal heads, paintings, gold plated things, etc. He must've been Carissa's father.

Sitting behind him was Carissa, arms crossed, one leg on the other.

"You must be Earnest," her father said.

"Yup, and your William Baxter, famous politician. Although, I'm surprised you know the name of an nobody like me," I stated.

"Well, it wasn't until recently, however exchanging identities is not why you're here. I have a question for you," he stated.

"Sure, ask away," I said.

His expression got more serious than it already was.

"Where do you get off putting your hands on my daughter?" He interrogated me.

I looked back at Carissa to see that she was smirking. Upon smirking back at her, her face changed to one of disbelief.

"Hmm, I figured it'd be fine, especially considering how many people she's put her hands on," I stated.

Note, I never even touched her.

William chuckled to himself before he continued.

"Do you have any idea how I raised my daughter?" William said rhetorically.

"Pretty shitty from the looks of it," I said honestly.

Carissa looked at me in anger. Her father was still calm however.

William snapped his fingers at the guards and they rushed out of the room.

Pretty soon they came back in dragging a stripped man who was bound and bloody.

These people are sick. I felt something inside of me begin to stir.

"This is what happened to the last person who offended my family," William said.

"Is that so?" I asked sarcastically.

"I raised my daughter to be virtous and kind, and you go and hurt her," he said.

I getting some real creep vibes. That's ironic coming from me though, I look like the personification of creep.

"Well that's nice sir, I'm sure you did your best, unfortunately you failed though," I said in an exhausted tone.

This is the most I've socialized in single day, why is it so tiring?

"You don't seem to value your own life," William said angrily.

"Wrong, I recently gained a newfound appreciation for it actually," I stated honestly.

"I was going to rough you up a bit and let you go, but it seems I need to hurt you far worse. What if I took my anger out on that precious family of yours?" he stated.

I thought about it for a minute. I don't give a damn about my parents, but I do have a little sister. One of which, has never wronged me. In fact, she treated me like an actual person when my parents weren't around, but I haven't seen her in years.

"I'm afraid I can't let you do that," I informed William.

"I'll consider forgiving your family if you prostrate yourself and apologize," he said.

I got down on my hands and knees and saw Carissa smiling now.

"Sir William, it is my honor to humbly apologize...to the piece of trash you call a daughter," I said.

"Y-you, kill him! All of you, kill him!" William said fully enraged now.

About a dozen guards poured into the room and surrounded me.

I started laughing out loud. Finally, some excitement, I was starting to fall asleep here.

All of the guards charged at me at once. I stood on my feet and waited for them to get inside my kill distance. A.K.A. 2 meters.

3..2..1...expand.

In an instant my barrier expanded, blasting away all of William's guards. I heard the pleasant sound of bones breaking and screams of pain.

None of them got back up.

"You-what was that?" William said in a state of shock.

"Something you can't comprehend. Now then, didn't you make a threat on my family, I'll have to kill you now," I said not actually intending on killing him.

I began approaching his desk, when he suddenly pulled a gun on me.

I stopped and shrunk the size of my barrier.

"Don't move, I'm not afraid to shoot you," He stated.

I began approaching him again.

"Then why are your hands shaking?" I stated apathetically.

He fired a shot off which resulted in the gun he was holding to explode in his hand.

The bullet was reflected by my barrier and travled back down the barrel of the gun.

He screamed in pain, and dropped the gun.

"Daddy!" Carissa said sounding worried.

Huh, I didn't think she cared for anyone but herself.

He fell back in his chair and began grunting and breathing heavily. Carissa got up to tend to him.

I jumped on his desk and stood over him.

"I have some demands to make, if they're met, I'll forget all of this happened," I said looking down at him.

"Y-you, what are you?" William asked weakly.

I pondered the thought for a moment.

"I'm a monster of sorts, I was created by this horrible city," I stated happily.

Carissa stood up to confront me, but her father blocked her with his busted arm.

"You've seen what I can do, I could tear you and your daughter apart if I wanted to, so make the right choice," I bluntly informed him.

His eyes went from anger to sheer panic in an instant.

"You wouldn't!"

"You're right, I wouldn't. At least, not without a reason, and I'd say I have a pretty good reason right now."

"Alright..."

"I can't hear you."

"I said fine! Damnit," William agreed.

"You have a lot of nerve taking that tone with me, but I'll let it slide just this once," I said kindly.
