Unexpectedly, Rick, who had not seen him in many days, suddenly approached him and, although he was pleasantly surprised, he was still a little concerned about the good man's current condition.
Hearing the sound of the door opening, Rick looked back. His eye sockets were sunk at this point and his face was full of fatigue. It could have been caused by not having rested well for several days, but fortunately he was in a good mood.
Seeing Airon walk in, Rick flashed his first smile these days, although it was a bit forced, it was no big deal.
"Airon, are you done?"
Airon nodded and walked to the front of the desk to get a glass of water, he was thirsty and right now it was the only thing he wanted to do.
"Ha!"
With a gasp, Airon finally felt like he had come back to life. He had been sweating all morning, so he was interested in having stable energy on this base.
After considering everything he wants to achieve, he improves the quality of life in this place as much as possible.
So, with biogas tanks and other facilities that are convenient to live in, how many places can compare to this place in the future? Airon knows that anyone who came to this place would never want to leave.
Walking over to a desk he picked up the fan from the table and fanned it fiercely towards his face, he looked back at Rick and asked a little strangely, "Aren't you resting, why are you here?"
Rick smiled bitterly before speaking, but his voice was clearly hoarse. "I don't want to rest anymore, give me some work, I can do anything, I'm even considering helping with the upcoming construction, no matter what it is, I can do it."
"Do you think as long as you feel busy you can forget all your sufferings?"
Thinking about this, Airon got up from his chair and walked over to Rick to say a few words to him with a little more approachability.
"Unfortunately the two of us didn't get to know each other before all this started. A year and a half is long enough for me to realize what kind of person you are. Do you think I'm upset about things in the past?"
Rick lowered his head a little thoughtfully when he heard those words and spoke again in an apologetic tone, "It's not like that..."
"No!"
Airon raised his hand to interrupt the words Rick was about to say, so he was silent not knowing what he was about to say.
Suddenly, the fan in his hand stopped and the room fell silent. After a while, Airon's voice rang out, "I don't want you to be confused, the reason I never planned to blame you for Lori's actions is not because she apologized to me. You know better than anyone that I am not a nice person to those who hurt me, but I do have a judgment that I take very seriously, and you are the only reason I didn't decide to make a big deal out of it."
"I know you are an upright person. From before and you still are now. I know that even if Lori betrayed me in that selfish way, still if you were in my place you wouldn't blame her. I know you are a good man who wouldn't betray anyone, and I also trust that in the future this place won't be so exhausting."
"If someday some of the people I trust the most plan to betray my trust, I will analyze the situation and if there is a solution where the stability of this organization does come out, I will be the first one to take it no matter if it means leaving this place."
Boom!
Suddenly there was a crisp sound heard outside the door, like the sound of something falling to the ground.
Airon ran to the door with a step and opened it abruptly, only to see a small figure that had just turned around and backed up a few steps.
"Carl?"
It was Carl who ran away, and at this moment Airon shouted at him and he froze in place.
Rick was also startled when he heard the words, he suddenly stood up and even knocked over the chair and ran straight for the door.
Carl slowly turned around and looked up, only then did they both realize that two lines of tears had already run down his face, and his eye sockets were also filled with tears.
Airon adjusted his tone and asked softly.
"Carl, how long have you been standing in the doorway?"
"Hoo, it's been...for a long time."
Airon looked at him and didn't know what to answer. As smart as he was, he had no experience comforting children.
Rick walked straight to his son, bent down and hugged him, and said in a calm tone, " What was it we agreed on? You're a man now, you shouldn't cry all the time."
Rick was about to lie he stopped himself, "Carl, your mother had no intention of hurting Airon, she's not a bad person she was just worried about seeing you and your sister one last time."
"You're right, she was just worried." Carl cried uncontrollably.
Airon knew this was very true, but just the same even though he was upset at the time he stopped being upset long ago.
Rick on the side showed a more grateful expression.
Now all he cared about was his two children, and all the decisions he made and should be making were to ensure the healthy and safe growth of the two children.
After a while, the original two people in the room suddenly became two and a half.
Carl insisted on going in with his father, saying he had a right to know a lot more since he was a man, but Rick, unable to stop him, could only drag him into the office.
The three of them sat down, looking at Carl who sat there with a serious face like a small adult, Rick, who was not in a good mood, couldn't help but smile.
"Okay, let me tell you about my next plan. I plan to go to the power company heading northeast tomorrow early in the morning to check it out. The base is still running on generator sets. Although the fuel is still sufficient, that's not something we can sustain ourselves on."
"Now, since Georgia has solved this problem. We must work to do so now on this base."
After speaking, Airon walked over to the map by the wall. Next to it, he marked a few places with a pen.
"Here, here and here. In order, they're all power companies, and there's even a nuclear power plant from your company to the south that's gone into the base plans in Georgia."
As Rick listened intently without saying a word.
"So you want to find some electric company employees? The probability is too low don't you think?
"Well, it's too low. I don't have to find them. I just need to find more photovoltaic power generation equipment and see if Georgia has come up with a solution."
Communicating constantly, while Carl to the side stood motionless, his eyes constantly wandering between the two.
Finally, half an hour later, the discussion between the two gradually stopped, but there was another knock on the office door.
"Come in!"
When the door opened, two slender figures appeared in their line of sight, and it was Michonne and Amy who entered.
As soon as the two entered the room, they looked at each other and Michonne made a modest gesture, obviously wanting to say something.
"What's going on?"
After discussing things a moment ago, Airon's mood was a bit relaxed, and he was also a bit curious when he saw the two's expressions.
"We want to participate in the outing."
"You two?"
He looked at Michonne suspiciously, but saw the other party clasp his hands together and raise his eyebrows, as if he had nothing to do with her decision.
But Amy kept him from guessing, she explained. "Andrea, Jennifer, Carol and I no longer want to stay on base, and we want to request the opportunity to leave."
"Do you know how many trained soldiers with advanced military equipment died to take Birmingham?" Airon frowned at having to explain this yet again.
What the hell is wrong with bored people on the base?"
"No, didn't you say you wanted to go to the nearby power company, can't we go to that place with you?"
Looking resignedly at Rick, Amy suddenly spoke up after seeing him look at it several times.
"It's not far anyway, is it?"
Amy didn't expect to get Rick's support. She looked at him in surprise, but then nodded her head with a smile.
Carl, who had been silent for a long time, suddenly said. "I go?"
The veins in Airon's head almost exploded from the restrained emotions, he looked at Amy and then at little Carl. Is this a fucking field trip where what you will encounter will be turtles?
They'll just be a nuisance, Lori died because she thought she was a seeker. And now these women want out, well, Michonne is a warrior who can handle herself. Amy though? She died in the original story at the beginning, with normal walkers, what can she do with mutated walkers?
